I say Angry Birds is deserving- well- for all the reasons I stated prior- but I don't think not being up at TGAs has any impact. People know of Genshin didn't learn about their love of video games through it. New gamers found an entire way to play because of Angry Birds.
You say it didn't do anything phenomenal for mobile games and entirely missing the point- it made people PLAY mobile games. That's more impact than can be stated. Go ask your random neighbor down the street if they have heard of Angry Birds. Now ask them if they know Genshin Impact.


No, If I wanted to attempt trolling then I'd say Fire Emblem and Geno suck.

I've noticed far more often than I care to admit, that this thread prefers to talk about RPGs and minimizes majority of other genres. Which was the discussion at hand. You calling it trolling, guy I've never seen before- doesn't make it trolling.

I thought you were responding sarcastically because this thread has had a LOT of non-RPGs that people talks about incessantly. Doom Guy, Crash, Dante, and Ryu Hyabusa being the main contenders while Geno is mostly relegated to talk in the Geno support thread.

I’m honestly super surprised you guys literally only talk about Ninja Gaiden in smash when you guys talk about Koei Tecmo on switch when most of the KT games on switch are Dynasty Warriors. So by Smash speculation logic, you guys should be talking about a Dynasty Warriors character. My guess would be Lu Bu since he’s pretty popular. But I guess “legacy” is more important to speculation

Eh, I already stated before that popular doesn't always equal deserving in terms of impact, Angry Bird doesn't really tapped into other things other than movie and the fact that you can convince a console gamer to play a mobile game through Angry Bird seems like a complete theory crafting, I mean there's a slight chances they might heard about Angry Bird but to think they will be obsessed with something as simple as that to someone that experience playing a Triple A game isn't that easy to convince while on the other hand even if it's really new Gengshin is literally the gateway for console gamers to enjoy mobile games. I mean look on how many video from streamers playing Gengshin Impact when their library of games consist of anything other than mobile games cause it's on console which is a royalty in it as its own. Angry Bird is basically an overseas version of Fate GO, it's popular and we'll discussed, at least for Fate, but they don't earn the title of deserving even if you consider just being 'that game everyone used to play back' is as deserving as Crash Bandicoot or even as medium as Shantae.

Don't forget the obligatory "it's real people" argument and the overshadowing by Age of Calamity makes it hard to discuss. Also Hayabusa isn't just a "legacy" character cause the don't give a f for him if he didn't get bring up on leaks.




On the other hand, for the perfect Dynasty Warriors rep it's got to be Zhao Yun/Yukimura Sanada, I don't really want to pull the ARMS thing again where everyone is the main character which is just false cause the devs never stated that everyone in Dynasty/Samurai Warriors is equally as important but they clearly stated that Zhao Yun is not just the poster boy but rather always being the main focus just like Terry, I just can't see a villain getting in first before protag

I think if Dynasty Warriors didn't have the issue of the Fine line between Fiction and Real Characters (since the characters are based of Real People), Then I think Dynasty Warriors would have More Discussion, but there's more to it than that I think

I think People look at Ryu more as a Company Rep than on his Own Merits to be honest, Not to say Ryu Himself doesn't have his own Merits, but I think Ryu Siphons most of the Koei Discussion (and not including the Rumors) because Koei likes to shove Ryu in Alot of their Games, so he's seen as their mascot Character. Even when Ninja Gaiden is Dead Franchise at the moment, Ryu still appears in games like Dead or Alive, Warriors Orochi, Nioh, etc.

Plus on the Nintendo Audience, Dynasty Warriors hasn't been a Thing on Nintendo Platforms until Recently. They had one game on 3DS, but besides that Their only Nintendo Presence is the Switch. Ninja Gaiden was on NES, Gameboy, Wii U. Dead or Alive 2 was on Gamecube, and Dead or Alive Dimmensions was on 3DS.

AFAIK, you can’t see the Sony character Minecraft skins on other systems. This is the first time it’s happened. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ve become more lenient or if this is a special case for the juggernaut that is Fortnite.

It’s gonna be weird if the first crossover between Sony, Microsoft & Nintendo is in Fortnite instead of Smash. But with how close Nintendo is to the game (2 bundles so far), I think that Samus rumor is gonna turn out to be true.

Which Samus rumour? I haven't read anything about that beyond people guessing which Nintendo character could fit in Fortnite.

Master Chief has been datamined recently, or that's what I've read, so I'm guessing maybe it will be announced at the Game Awards?

I guess that's true. I do think that for Some though it's still a Pill to swallow however. However Dynasty Warriors is very Exaggerated I believe and Clearly Fictional, So I think others are fine with it

But I do Think the other reasons are perhaps why Ryu Overshadow Dynasty Warriors.

It was awhile back, but I'm on record for hoping for either Mocchi or Suezo for a Koei Tecmo rep. A few others hoped for Monster Rancher as well.

You're right, though, that people tend to favor the Legacy of a series when considering possibilities. Sakurai had said on multiple occasions, "Smash Brothers is a celebration of Gaming' (or rather, it was a Celebration of Nintendo and now its moved on to gaming in general) so people tend to see that and think "well, of course its only right to celebrate gaming with the most recognizable icons of gaming". That's why you've got reps from really well known series like Cloud (repping Final Fantasy) and Hero/Erdrick repping Dragon Quest (two pinnacles of the RPG world), Pac-Man repping the most well-known Arcade game to ever exist (the Pac craze was apparently pretty nuts), Sonic as he was the most well known gaming mascot aside from Mario in the 90's, Ryu because Street Fighter is incredibly well-known and practically the go-to thought when people think 'Fighting game', and others.

Of course, you've got the occasionally statistical outlier like Joker & Bayonetta who, while coming from a great game & great series, is still from a series that was more niche up until recently. Its additions like those (and the aforementioned) that are the reason peoples' speculation leans more toward 'Icons with Legacy' to join the others. "They've got Steve, Cloud, and Sonic to rep PC, Final Fantasy/Sony, and Sega; why not Master Chief for Halo! He'd be perfect!" is the general thought. It's hard not to see their point when you've still got near universally recognized characters like Doom Guy, Master Chief, and Crash not in while the rest have been added. That's why speculation tends to go in that direction than more niche titles like Monster Rancher, Ape Escape, or something like Tomba!.

Unfortunately, that also includes Dynasty Warriors. I think for warriors, though, it's more that its gameplay formula is more recognized than its actual series. There are so many games that use its formula (Fire Emblem Warriors, One Piece Pirate Warriors, and Persona 5 Scramble to name a few) that we're to the point where its almost its own genre of game. Given that, I don't think its impossible for it to get a rep since its gameplay spawned a thousand imitators, but that may be a reason why these boards (and others) don't usually consider it in speculation. They see it as more of a genre than its own title.

It's also almost like a lot of people will talk about a character because they really want them.

Not to **** on Lu Bu or Zhao Yun, but they haven't managed to gain traction in the speculation community the same way Hayabusa did.

Nah, there really should not be any problems with that. Dynasty Warriors isn't an encyclopedia like Civilzation.

Considering how protective and strict they are of their IPs, Nintendo stuff will either be made exclusive or not exist at all.

"Fatmanonice" it's been a long time since I hear that name in the speculation scene especially during the peak of who's the FP5 is where I always see him everywhere. Also, I don't know why he is being talked about in that Geno thread more often when he hasn't given us new information, or do they just dig deep into his history about him talking about Geno.

And those versions of Raiden clearly wouldn't work as echo fighters at all.

idk assuming raiden is a snake echo doesn't that not really work? i think that roster is ok but when it's by taking out the big stuff we got like k rool, simon, and ken it looks very lacking lol. They got dark samus right so props i guess

I'm so glad the Echo Fighter Roster is So Much Better than this leak to be honest

-Raiden, Dixie, and Shadow Would feel very Hollow as Echo fighters

The Unique Newcomer roster is kind of Weird, but Kind of Cool, Especially Master Hand. However no Crazy Hand echo is a Lost Opportunity

Yeah Metal Gear Solid 2 is when people hated Raiden, I don't see why that version would appear when we have the much superior version that suplexed a Metal Gear.
