Yeah Metal Gear Solid 2 is when people hated Raiden, I don't see why that version would appear when we have the much superior version that suplexed a Metal Gear.

Some people hated him in MGS2 for reasons unrelated to him to be honest.

I actually like him in MGS2. His role in said game wouldn't really work if Snake was in his place.

And those versions of Raiden clearly wouldn't work as echo fighters at all.
Big Boss would be better for an echo, but he could just be an alt with a different name to be honest.

Something like, Lack of Flair, or Soul or something like that

I Know Shadow and Dixie were very Popular Echo Suggestions, But I think them being Echo Fighters would have at the end of the Day been a Bad Decision. both these Characters Are very Requested and Have unique abilities that Echo Fighter wouldn't allow a lot of material to work with

Dark Samus is kind of the Same way, but to be honest, She'd Probably never get in without Echo fighter label, especially since Ridley was a newcomer in Ultimate as well. I would say she's a Sacrifice. Shadow and Dixie don't need to be Sacrificed. they can get in on their own Merits, even if it takes Getting into the Next Game (or this Fighter Pass) to do it

Same Deal with Raiden too. even if not as requested as the above Two, I don't think he should be added in as echo. MGR is What Made Raiden the super Badass people know of him now. Using the MG2 Version (while not as hated as today) is not best decision

If Snake gets an Echo, it should be Liquid. They're literally clones. And the one time you fight him face-to-face, he has the same moves as you do.

He is a big character in Metal Gear and while we have not gotten a second unique character for third party series yet, I think he might be one of the first. Granted Metal Gear is a former shadow of itself and there are other Konami series that have zero representation like Frogger and Contra.

Konami really goes downhill after they kicked out Kojima which is surprising considering he's the only one that can pull the company back together as he planned to revive Silent Hill back from their grave with P.T and now all of them boiled down into just Pachinko Machine.

Personally, I think he is overlooked in speculation. He is a big character in Metal Gear and while we have not gotten a second unique character for third party series yet, I think he might be one of the first. Granted Metal Gear is a former shadow of itself and there are other Konami series that have zero representation like Frogger and Contra.

I Don't think he'll be in this Fighter Pass, especially after that Nice Looking Bomberman costume came Separately

Now for Smash 6, I think there could be a good chance perhaps. It Really depends on whether Smash 6 will have more focus on Secondary Characters for 3rd party Franchises. I think that could be a thing for DLC, since DLC is meant to be extra Content on top of Base game.

In terms of the Konami Competetion, There's Bomberman. There's also Alucard who Sakurai was considering adding before deciding on Simon/Richter. Contra and Frogger are something to consider, but I don't think they are that big of Obstacles, despite how Iconic the Franchises are

I wouldn't really count on it. 3rd party series getting a second unique character is unprecedented, and I'd imagine the first would likely be from Sonic, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Castlevania, or Megaten.

Raiden would definitely be the second Metal Gear rep, though.

Unfortunately pretty slim. There just isn't anything going for him right now, unless they decided to bookend Snake being the first ever third-party rep or something (Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen)

Though now I'm curious, how much has the pandemic affected Konami? Since they mostly do pachinkos now, I figured they'd be hit pretty hard...

Maybe not Next, but I do think a Gray Fox Mii is a good Possiblity.

I Especially think Alucard Mii is a Very Real Possibility, along with other Potential Assists like Shovel Knight, Rodin (so we can have Shades without having to have Travis's Hair), Dr.Wily, Sukapon, etc

It feels weird seeing the Duck's face present in the Dunk Hunt portrait. I kinda get why - both ICies are visible - but still. Likewise, Luma's not visible in Rosa's finalized portrait, but I can kinda understand why that's the case too.

Master Hand would've been an epic pick though, both from the Ultimate and the Special (SSBU's Japanese name) angle. Especially considering his playable cameo in WoL was considered a highlight (first time he's intentionally playable, not counting the Playable Master Hand glitch in Melee).

Also, how the **** would New Villager / New York Islander differ from Villager? I'm stumped partly because Isabelle is already a different version of Villager's moveset in essence.

Marketing purposes? I know a similar situation with Touhou, which doesn't even have an official logo and had to make one up for the 25th anniversary events, as well as ones for various collabs.

You're completely missing the point of why people want certain characters in Smash by writing something like that.

People don't just want to see those characters in a fighting game, they want to beat up Mario with those characters. And that's something only Smash can offer.
