Oh boy, it begins.

TGA or something else? Either way - to quote a certain space merc - we're gonna have fun with this thing.
To be fair, there is probably at least one announcement because of Animal Crossing's monthly updates. There might be something else - though there's no guarantee it would be Smash, of course.

I doubt there is an AC update video this early. We just had the video telling us about Turkey day and Toy day. The next update video isn't due till january

He's not as bad as Geno, but Crash always feels like one of those characters who's constantly used in fake leaks because the people who make them know more people will want to believe it.

The fact that this person could name not one but two DLC characters when others can barely leak a DLC character a week in advance is enough reason for me to doubt.

On the flip side tho, Shantae is a rare name in leaks, so even tho this one was blatantly fake...

feel like the most frequent character names to show up in fake leaks are Geno, Sora, Hayabusa, Crash, Master Chief, Doom Slayer and ... I think that’s about all of them. Anyone else showing up in a leak, fake or otherwise, is pretty rare

You forgot Dante, I feel as though he's in a bunch of fake leaks even if it's not as much as the others.

Right, I was forgetting that one infamous leak during the base game period that got DMCV info right but slipped in blatantly false Smash info

It feels like these guys are the "hot topics" of the speculative scene as a whole, at least on the Western side of things. They're the ones everyone is talking about, the guys everyone knows. As such, they're generally the ones who seem to get the most backlash, specifically Geno, Crash, and Hayabusa.

I’m ok with Crash, I played some of his games as a kid and I feel his smash inclusion would be deserved tbh

but the other two, I’m absolutely BORED TO DEATH OF. The fact I have no attachment to either of them and didn’t grow up with their games emphasizes that

Pretty sure we'll get something this month from Nintendo. But that doesn't mean a big announcement or FP8.

Nintendo will be at the Game Awards though, I'm pretty much convinced of that. Maybe not for a big thing (BotW 2, Metroid, Bayonetta, FP8...) but I would expect some announcement related to Nintendo, like Bravely Default II last year.

A theory so insane that even if Bayonetta 3 released literally tomorrow, it would still make no sense.
Admittedly it is a Little out there, But There's actually some sense into it

Theory: Shadow in Bayonetta 3, Shadow in Smash Bros... - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (gamespot.com)
Theory: Bayonetta 3, Sega, Nintendo, Smash Bros, And the Potential Correlation - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (gamespot.com)
The Bayonetta Subreddit gave me some info that COULD mean stuff for Smash... - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (gamespot.com)

These Posts goes over the Details

I Went through ALL of Platinum's 4 Thousand Tweets. this was the first time they ever tweeted Something Sonic Related. That Tweet was what got my Attention and led me to Connect The Signs.

Again, It does sound a little Crazy, But it isn't the most Far-fetched thing out there

And I thought PapaGenos liked to do some reaching...

Even IF we live in a timeline where Shadow is somehow in Bayo 3, why would he be a Bayonetta representative for Smash? That doesn't just make no sense, it makes negative sense.

What I think is that you're so desperate to see Shadow in Smash that you'd take anything, no matter how crazy, just for the sake of having hope.

Not growing up with a character's games shouldn't be a reason to avoid playing those games (or a reason to get annoyed with people speculating about them). I had barely played a Ninja Gaiden game (and certainly never came close to beating one), and while I could see why people wanted Ryu Hayabusa from a historical perspective (much like Simon Belmont), it was hard for me to get excited about him, or to get invested in the series given its infamous difficulty.

That changed when I got Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on the Wii U fairly recently. Even though it's generally considered one of the lesser entries (or maybe that's the regular Ninja Gaiden 3? I know one of them was criticized for being too easy), I still had a lot of fun with it and I could quickly see why people would like to see Ryu Hayabusa in Smash. (I wasn't even halfway through the game before I could picture his whole moveset)

If you're not familiar with a character, give their game(s) a chance if you have the option. (though it helps to do some research - if you're not familiar with Dante, it's probably best not to start with Devil May Cry 2 or DmC: Devil May Cry)

Hey is something even a theory if it hasn't been proven yet?
Like people said, it wouldn't be a theory if it was proven, but on a technical level a theory would have evidence to back the idea. Usually there's a reason said theory can't be proven, either because technology isn't there yet or it's related to something people can't feasibly recreate. An idea that hasn't been put through the ringer should be called a hypothesis. Basically every time theory is used in this thread it's actually a hypothesis. Theory just feels less annoying/pretentious to say.

He Wouldn't be a Bayonetta Rep, He'd be a Sonic Rep

It's just that Shadow would have the bonus of Advertising Bayonetta 3, Since in this Scenario he would be in that game

Alot of the Characters that be talked about usually Advertising Something. whether that be Koei's Relationship with Ryu (along with Potential Re-Release), how Monster Hunter got alot of Talk with the 2 Switch Exclusive games (or perhaps Timed Exclusives), Or how SMRPG Remake or Sequel is Cream on Crop for Geno's Chances or something like that

The Basis of this Theory, the Smash Part of it, is that Shadow being Bayonetta 3 would give Nintendo more of a Reason to Choose Shadow as one of the FP Characters. After all lots of characters have good merits, so you need everything you can get to be chosen. No Shadow being in bayonetta 3 would not be the only reason he'd be chosen, and he'd be a Sonic rep, but it would help

I'm not Desperate. I just think Shadow has a Real good chance of being in this Fighter Pass, There is NO Bias clouding my Judgement. I'll admit I am Bias towards Shadow, but I Can see through my Analytics that Shadow might be Slept on...yes

I'm not gonna go through this again. It's just not worth it.

Shadow's dead. He's an Assist Trophy. I've accepted that he's not getting in as a fighter. But even then, I don't think any sane man would put him in another game just to promote by putting him in Smash.

If the point is to advertise Bayonetta 3, why not pick a Bayonetta character?

Adding a character in Smash just because they appeared in another game as a guest feels like it's not from their own merits, and that's something that would just feel wrong on a third-party, even if it's a highly-requested one, because it'd give off the idea of "Oh, Shadow never would've had a chance if it wasn't for this very specific set of coincidences." regardless of whether it's true or not.

Well yeah, companies that aren't dead will most likely use Smash's audience to market something if their stuff gets in Smash. Why wouldn't they? Smash is basically one of the best advertising campaigns around, especially with the sheer size of Ultimate's player base.

That's just how business works. Plain and simple.

You just contradicted yourself there.

Saying it wouldn't be the only reason, yet saying Nintendo would justify this as a reason.

Not desperate, yet banking on a Bayonetta crossover for Shadow to get in?

I've read everything I needed to read.

Really, assist trophy aside, the only way I could imagine Shadow being implemented into Ultimate is if he were an echo fighter...which clearly was a base game only kind of deal.

We're not getting secondary third party characters as full blown DLC characters this time around, that I'm sure of.

There's alot of potential factors. Like I suggested in one of the Bayonetta 3 X Shadow Topics, Nintendo and Platnium would get more money by Putting in Shadow in Bayonetta 3. Sonic fans would be more interested, and there' definitly be alot of Attention on it since It be the 2nd Coming of Shadow using Guns

Sega will get more Shine on Shadow. they've been pushing him harder these days compared to the Early 2010's, where like most of the Sonic Characters not named Sonic, Eggman, or Tails, he was barely used. It also could be the Blueprint for a Sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog as an action game. from there they can actually create a New Franchise based around Shadow, for the more mature fans and stuff

Even if Bayonetta 3 Theory doesn't happen, I still will think Shadow will be in fighter Pass 2, Unless something happens that i have to give up on Him being in this Fighter Pass

But I'm not trying to suggest Bayonetta 3 would be the Sole Reason or main reason. it would be the Cherry on top that could Benefit Nintendo, Platinum, and Sega all at once.

If you want Bayonetta and Shadow to crossover just write a fanfiction or something

You're reaching farther than my mind can comprehend here.

If you don't think it's a big reason, why bring it up?
