After sitting and thinking for a while, I've come to realize that I've been rather harsh when speaking of Nintendo at times, and I feel it's unwarranted in some respects. I would go on about how Nintendo wasn't releasing/announcing big games, but a lot has happened this year:
- Animal Crossing
- Paper Mario
- Sw/Sh DLC
- Smash announcements (as sparingly as they have been)
- Lots of third party and indie support for the Switch (including a noteworthy update for Shin Megami Tensei V's status)
- Monster Hunter Rise was a significant announcement
- Super Mario 3D All Stars, and the announcement of a Super Mario 3D World expansion
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity announced and releasing soon
- Kirby Fighters 2
- Retro games continuing to pop up in the Switch Online service
- I'm sure I'm missing something
Not every year, especially such a historically awful one like this, is going involve Nintendo hitting constant homeruns, announcing big game after big game. There's always going to be that slow year, and I think for a crazy year like this one, they've done very well.
My only real complaint is that I wish Nintendo could be more transparent about their status.
