I think most of the guys at the Geno thread are solid about him being FP5 is because of Fatman's "Thank you!" theory. Fatman said that Heihachi and Lloyd were guest in Soul Calibur at certain points and that it would make a ton of sense if their Mii costumes came back with Nightmare because of that.
I should clarify that Fatman is specifically talking about characters like Lloyd and Geno, who have been requested since Brawl by the core Smash fans that hang out on forums like this.

No he claimed there isn't going be a Soul Calibur rep or Namco rep in general as well as no Level 5 rep as FP5.
No, its just that the Geno thread still believes (or wants to believe) that it is, despite Verge saying the contrary.

We'll get the orchestral Monopoly music for the trailer, but the MIDI in-game.
I mean I completely agree with you, Square has some of the most biggest franchises under their belt. I can see most of them getting in before we could even get to Geno. That's not me being mean or dismissing Geno, it's just based on what we've seen so far from Square themselves. Square can be pretty comparable to Capcom, in terms of character choices. They have so many characters that comes from big series that would be great for Smash and most of them would be fun to play. Not to mention they always seem to for their bigger characters or ones that's still relevant to them for crossovers for DLC.
Frank proved popular enough to get an alternate take of Dead Rising 2 where he was the main character. He also consistently appears alongside Arthur, Amaterasu, and Morrigan in various crossovers.
I completely forgot about Monster Hunter. Somehow.

I'm gonna be completely honest and say that Cloud specifically was a surprise to me, as I thought (at the time) that they would instead go with a FF rep that's more associated with Nintendo than he was. I agree with the rest of your post though. And I'm actually glad I was wrong there.

I think Geno has a good shot for post pass but honestly that theory of his doesn't sound that different to me in comparison to infamous theories like the one with the chairs or "the direct was suspended because Isaac is in and he was doing earth attacks".
I'd take it. Sawsbuck's my second favorite Pokémon so I'd be thrilled.
"Ah, Call of Duty Man. How is my favourite customer? I'm afraid that your new weapons have gotten stuck in this box. I may be persuaded to open it for ah, a small fee."
I mean it would make Nintendo a lot of money. Not to say he said it was going to be all highly fan requested characters, but he said that E3 and beyond would be almost nothing but 3rd party characters.
They're already making a ton of money. The Fighters Pass was stated to contribute significantly to Nintendo's fiscal growth this year. Smash DLC will sell well no matter what the character is, and they clearly are not prioritizing the biggest and baddest franchises nor what nerds like us talk about all the time.

Until the DLC lineup is over basically. That's why Fatman and everybody else in the Geno thread are banking on Geno being #76 or
#77.Because of Fatmanonice and his "Thank you!" theory.

Fatman (who was in Sabi's private discord) claimed that Verge (who is already spot on about the characters even if he isn't always the first) is lying about Namco being deconfirmed so the Geno thread thinks Nightmare is next. There's also Fatman's "Thank You" theory and according to him the next batch of DLC fighters would be "fanservice picks".
I'd also add that if we get another Square-Enix rep as DLC, someone like 2B, then that'd be the final nail in the coffin for Geno.

Basically this. As soon as that Direct was over I immediately went to talk to a friend of mine who is a big RPG nut. It took a few good minutes of talking and actually sending him the trailer to convince him I wasn't lying lol.

I feel their use of fanservice picks is kinda silly, given that we have gotten pretty much fanservice picks since the Inklings all the way to Terry. Fighter 5 is going to be fanservice and beyond are going to be fanservice as well, every character has their fans.
