InfernoOmni: WIFOM stands for Wine in Front of Me. In the novel (and film) The Princess Bride, the Sicilian challenged Dread Pirate Roberts to a duel of wits. He places two goblets of wine on the table, one in front of himself and one in front of his opponent. He states that he has poisoned one of the goblets, and DPR can choose which he wants to drink - the goblet the enemy put in front of his enemy or the goblet the enemy put in front of himself. The natural instinct would be to put the poison in front of your enemy, not yourself; therefore, wouldn't the witty Sicilian put it in the opposite order? Or would the Sicilian think it a step further and put it in front of himself, knowing DPR would expect him to do the opposite? Or would he think it even a step further?
As you can see, this greatly parallels the mindgames in Mafia. Someone does something to attract attention to themselves and could seem, at least on the most shallow level, scummy - its something dumb mafia might do. Therefore, isn't it something that educated mafia, or at least semi-experienced mafia, would never do? At least, when they have experienced partners to shy them away from it, and especially when they can lurk, sit back, ruffle no feathers, and attempt to coast through the game. Or would the mafia then do exactly that, thinking we would think they are town for it?
I gauge that Florida would not apply pressure by saying "scummy, scummy, scummy" if he were scum, simply because there is not enough of a gain and he can risk a lot, especially in a game with new players who may be eager to jump and lynch. I do think, however, that a town Florida might pressure like that.
Regardless, I don't think its enough to lynch someone.
