As much as I like Blue, I don't think she is a good idea. Athough most of it depends on which Pokemon she would have besides Jigglypuff.

I'd rather see N, but just because he's a villian and would work as a 5th Gen Rep.

Just make Green/Blue (the girl) an alt. for Pokemon Trainer. As simple as that.
^^This so that everyone can be happy, plus she did have Squirtle on her team to begin with.

List of Pokemon Trainer I'd like to see if Red is replaced:

~ Blue
~ Giovanni
~ N
~ Crystal (Female Trainer)
~ Jessie & James

To be honest, Id like to see either N or Giovanni the most since they are the antagonist of the series, better yet if Rd were to appear I'd say Giovanni would definetly be his perfect antagonist since he also happens to be from 1st gen, If Giovanni were to appear he could possibly have Mewtwo/Armored Mewtwo as part of his moveset in case Sakurai didn't want him as his own character.

I however do see N making an appearance as well since his much more relevant ans is a 5th gen Pokemon, besides, he's also an antagonist which the Pokemon franchise really could use since Victini nor Zoroark aren't.

Armored Mewtwo and Persian? Nidoking? Or ditch being cannon and give him like Deoxys as well?

Jesse and James would be unique due to

A. Being two characters in the background rather than one.
B. Having a talking Pokemon in Meowth.

They are also a closer fitting antagonist from the 1st gen to ren than Giovanni is.

Problem is they first appeared in the cartoon, and therefore can't get in.

Hmm... The way I see it would be like this:

Jessie & James are a duo trainers who have always been iconic in the series and are always stalking Ash, these Pokemon choices would probably apply to them:

~Meowth
~Arbok
~Koffing

As for Giovanni:

~Mewtwo
~Persian
~Deoxys/Nidoking

Wow... how did I manage to sleep in until nearly 1:00? o.0

I see people arguing that a given character has a better chance than another because it'd be easier to make a moveset, or that their moveset would be more interesting. Don't you guys think that's a bit silly, seeing how many characters have invented moves?

Yeah I would go with this. Maybe have Gary(Blue) as a costume change as well. They don't have to change the pokemon just some style graphics with the trainer and some voice over. Maybe have a special team color version too so when you're on Blue team you can pick Gary and when you're on green team you can pick Green.

I'm sure most of you would agree that hopes for a Female Trainer or a Rival Trainer are nothing more than pipe dreams. Nothing is wrong with Red and his Pokemon as they are, and we're certainly not getting another Trainer alongside him (which would make a total of nine Pokemon characters...).

Sleeping in till 1, meh, I woke up at 12:30. XP

I do agree a bit with that, as often times debates come up as one side can't see or imagine how said moveset/move would work, and often times to avoid that basing moves directly on their games is much easier to do and get people to join your side.

Not to mention they'd have to put in 3 characters worth of effort for one slot again but with obscure Pokemon as opposed to the 3 most iconic besides Pikachu.
I definitely don't think Charizard is obscure. Ie;s probably the most popular starter of all time. Squirtle is, well, less popular, and I'm willing to bet Ivysaur is the least popular of the three. But the way the Pokemon Trainer works makes sense.

Just make Green/Blue (the girl) an alt. for Pokemon Trainer. As simple as that
Yeah, I don't see why they didn't do this in the first place?

Probably because Gary Oak is God Tier.

As for the Pokemon Trainers that could replace our latest one, I think this is a pretty good list:

Ethan/Lyra/Silver (Feraligatyr, Bayleaf, Cyndaquil)
May/Brandon/Will (Blaziken, Grovyle, Mudkip)
Dawn/Lucas/Barry (Empoleon, Monferno, Grotle)
Black/White/Bianca/Cheren (Servine, Dewott, Tepig)
Cynthia (Garchomp for sure, and then two less significant Pokemon she has)
N (Zoroark for sure, and two less significant Pokemon)
Team Rocket Grunt Male/Female (Meowth and two less significant Pokemon)

N would be so nice, what kind of Pokemon would he have.

Aside from N I'd really like to see a female trainer instead, Pokemon and Smash could really use one, May would be so cool.

Useless Goldeen has been coming out of pokeballs since smash 64, although Goldeen is quite useful in the games and magikarp is the useless one. They used goldeen as a reference to an incident in pokemon anime, though. Therefore, I'd have to say this is bad logic.

My point was that Charizard and Squirtle ARE ridiculousy popular and iconic, which is why another PT is pointless.

i hate Goldeen, at least Magikarp is better.

As far as the Anime goes, that is probably the only one that would be an exception since it's owned under Game Freak, the same people who do the pokemon games, so that argument towards the Pokemon Anime is somewhat invalid.

Magikarp would be an awesome character.

I was a full supporter of the Magikarp for Brawl thread.

We had a moveset and everything. Magikarp could do everything from Splashing to Bouncing

Also, I see Barbasol is wearing his mark of shame

This is offtopic, but I was wondering if a huge Fire Emblem fan could give me a lesson on potential characters. There are so many and I hear about Caeda, Lyn, Miciah, Black Knight, Sigurd, Leaf, etc. and I have no idea who is popular or important or likely. Anyone know more about the subject without extreme bias?

No, she is of the games, and in my opinion, a second pokemon trainer would be a good idea, it is undoubtedly next on the list!

http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Green_(Game)
Yes I know that, she's also in the special manga in which she's known as Blue, anyway I don't like the idea of a second Pokemon trainer or N I think one is just fine.
Pokemon Reps
Pikachu
Pokemon Trainer
Jigglypuff
Zoroark
Mewtwo

If Mewtwo gets in we can have a Pokemon antagonist and people will stop going on about N getting in and what not.

Yes, Jessie & James do indeed appear in the anime but they also happen to appear in the Yellow Version of the Pokemon game as well, just like they got Pokemon Trainer Red, the same could apply to them, not having to do with the anime necessarly.

I don't really see what you mean by that but whatever.

Anyway, Team Rocket (Jessie & James) are character's from the cartoon, and Sakurai has already stated only characters who originated from video games will be considered.

Jessie & James first appeared in the cartoon, and have lost a lot of popularity over the years. Even now in the Black & White saga they only appear every few episodes. In addtion their only appearances in the games have been cameo appearances in Yellow and as minor characters in Pokemon Puzzle League.

They're just as likely as Goku getting in.

Hey Pops! I remember you from Mafiascum. Pretty interesting that we're discussing Smash right here.

Anyway, Magikarp can replace Goldeen as the useless Pokemon.

This pretty much, and besides didn't Sakurai say he was against anime characters getting in? Anyway off topic did anyone go to the midnight launch to get Brawl?

I take it not many people are concerned about Pokemon Gen 1 having more playable representation than any other Gen?

Why not replace PT's pokemon with the starters from a different gen? Seems like the only gens that get representation are Gen 1 and whatever Gen is the most recent...

I say replace Goldeen with Magikarp, and have it so if you attack magikarp enough times, it evolves into Gyrados and unleashes a hyper beam..

Who needs Magikarp for Smash when you can have this

I like the Magikarp Pokeball idea though it seems pretty cool.

I think gen 1 and most recent gen is all that needs representing. The pokemon sequels are just expansions, really.

I think I may be able to help.

Anyway, the most popular FE characters in Japan would be Sigurd/Leaf as the Japanese are major FE4-5 fanboys and they have also appeared on the Melee and Brawl polls.

After that would be the Pegasus Sisters, Palla, Catria, and Est, who have appeared as playable characters in more FE games then Marth. After them would be Caeda and Marth.

After that in a tie would be BK, Lyn, Miciah, Ike and other FE lords.

Good question, as far as Fire Emblem goes I'd say the following have decent to slim chances for SSB4:

~Caeda (Female from Shadow Dragon)
~Roy (Was the FE6 Lord and appeared in Melee)
~The Black Knight (Ike's eternal rival)
~Macaiah (Is somewhat lesser than Ike but relevent)

All in all I'd say it would be The Black Knight if we were to get a 3rd FE rep, otherwise I'd see The Black Knight since he's more relevant than anybody, Caeda also has a shot at it since she seems popular as well, Roy might come back but his relevance and axe from Brawl are probably the only things hurting his chances ATM.

Lyn has a chance but I believe her chances have greatly diminished since Brawl.

While I'm for both Caeda and BK, that's not very accurate.

The most recent games in both the U.S. (Shadow Dragon) and Japan (New Mystery of the Emblem) both feature Caeda, and therefore she technically is more relvent then BK.

wow, this thing looks A LOT better than the original artwork, but hopefully Magicarp will be the useless pokemon, as it is one of the most iconic pokemon out there (famous for its uselessness)

I never understood why they used Goldeen instead of Magikarp...

---

The Pegasus Sister changes roles, they could be in as an AT, but they aren't going to be playable... just won't work.

Caeda or Black Knight both add a lot to the franchise, it all depends on whether they want a villain or ally. Sakurai doesn't want region specific. But, if Sigurd gets a remake, I'd totally bet he makes it in.

Yes I agree with, I meant to say Caeda lol..but I got carried away with The Black Knight but you cannot rule out his possibility as well he has as much as Caeda does.

But I definetly see Caeda as the more relavent FE due to her being with Marth as well.

Beats me, but my best guess is because in the 2nd episode of the cartoon Goldeen pulled a Magikarp WAY (15-20 episodes) before Magikarp did.

I know I watched way to much Pokemon back in the day. :awesome:
