Oookay, that's actually a good reference video there.

I'm not sure how appealing Slime would be on his own... I find him extremely generic considering he's a droplet with eyes... Hey, I guess I'm wrong considering his popularity in Japan. But I love the idea of the Chocobo team up, that quells my generic concern there.
Personally I'd love Slime and Chocobo even more than just Slime, but if not I'm fine with either one (though I just naturally lean towards Slime more).

Don't forget, Slime also has magic and the ability to summon other members in the Slime family. That was the basis of several special moves I came up for him.

Stage concept should be up in just a sec. Give me a moment.

Well I'm sure you would find Kirby extremely generic if he wasn't... well.... Kirby. =P

Well, with classes coming up I'm not sure how many more of these I will do? Hopefully there will still be one every now and then. Who knows, maybe it will become like a luxury then?

For now I won't worry about such things and will just deliver my concept. So if you are ready we will begin once again.

Gaur Plains, the massive field from Xenoblade Chronicles. A vast, sweeping locale with many cliffs and hills. We've never had a stage of this kind before. So to have a stage modeled more after a natural setting would set it apart from the rest. Platform edges would be traded for cliffrock. The stage isn't much more than two hills separated by bridges and a large gorge in the middle. Characters would actually be fighting on grass!

Above you are arch rock formations that are there for scenery. Waterfalls and distant cliff drop offs are some of the other things you will see in the background. If you have the time you can also enjoy the wild life, although I'd stay away from the giant apes if I were you...

This stage would bring with it a day/night cycle much in the same vein as Battlefield. Except the stage will load at a set period like night, dawn, morning, afternoon and dusk; and will cycle from there. On top of that it would have a weather mechanic completely unique of it's own. An alternate stage can unknowingly load which will incorporate some of these weather mechanics. Little to your knowledge did you know you are in a flood prone area...

What will happen during the rain is the terrain will become wet and it will be easier to slide on the grass, so tripping would become a concern. Plus the rain would cause the visibility to decrease, possibly making it harder to see your opponent. Depending upon the duration of the rain it will begin to flood, causing you to drift towards the center of the stage. Forcing you to fight on the bridges and closer to the gorge.

There will also be the possibility of various winds strengths. A gentle breeze which will do nothing more then affect the background and cause some of the rocks from the arches to crumble off. Or a moderate breeze that will push the players in whichever direction it is blowing, but not enough to where you cannot fight against it.

The last alternate will be what I call the "bright day" ability. Which will be an extra sunny day that will cause more of a glare on the characters, making the stage brighter, reflective, and more vivid.

This stage will be unlike any other and will make you feel as though you are a part of the outdoors. I recommend everyone at least listen to most of the tracks. These ones are REALLY good!

Stage Example:

___---_xx_---___

*X represents gorge
**Higher dashes represent the two bridges.

Stage Name: Gaur Plains
Stage Icon: Circular Hilt of Xenoblade

-Tracks-
Xenoblade Chronicles - Gaur Plains
Xenoblade Chronicles - Fight!
Xenoblade Chronicles - Mechanical Rythym
Xenoblade Chronicles - One Who Gets in Our Way
Xenoblade Chronicles - Those Who Bear Their Name
Xenoblade Chronicles - Beyond the Sky (Ending Theme)
The Last Story - The One Ruling Everything (Last Battle)
The Last Story - Invitation To Madness
The Last Story - The Flying One (Kanan's Theme)
The Last Story - Dance of Death
Pandora's Tower - Boss Music
Find Mii - Ultimate Ghost

I know some of the music posted has been associated with other stages, but there really is no way to avoid that here. Since I feel a Xenoblade stage is the more likey of the "Operation: Rainfall" trifecta. None the less this would be a great way of incorporating many RPG elements into one stage. Hope you all enjoy!

Haha, I suppose that's true. I'm sure if Dragon Quest was more familiar to me, Slime would be more iconic rather than seeming generic.

@ Star

Another nice concept, Star. Those cliffs always reminded me of open crocodile mouths. XD

I like the middle pit design, we haven't seen anything like that yet I think.

@ Soviet

I think how you changed it so all 3rd parties are together and the rest are separate is good. Just split off paper mario and it's fine.

I'm diggin' the stage idea. It's like taking one of my favorite aspects of the Pokemon stadium level and making it suck less. It's a clean stage, it doesn't envoke any sort of feelings of "Oh, that's definitely a Wario stage" because it doesn't have any sort of gimmicky stuff. I like that. It's a big reason why I like to play at Battlefield every now and then.

I think I'll make a stage concept tomorrow. I'm free all day, so I'll bring up my Jill moveset, and stage concept.

Warning, may contain Guns :3

Well the fact of the matter is that Kirby is the hero you play as him and he isn't simply a species of creature. I honestly think Chocobo+Slime would be totally badass and even Slime would be interesting, but out of ALL the possible third party characters, why choose a common monster from the series that is neither popular, nor iconic to most of the world?

Because it's the mascots one of the most prestigious gaming companies that has set one of their flagship titles solely to Nintendo consoles which they are very serious about exposing now?

idk just a thought

I find even though generic enemies appear throughout a series shouldn't give them the rights over other main protagonist. It's like adding a generic swordsman over Marth or generic Mercenary over Ike.

I would think if Sakurai added a character from Final Fantasy or Dragonquest it would be someone like Black Mage from Final Fantasy or the original Dragon Warrior from Dragon Warriors.

Welcome to Dragon Quest :)

Where protagonists are very generic, and in more recent games are completely customizable by whoever plays the games. Slime is probably DQ's best representative. Although I like the Joker character myself. He looks like Baby from DBGT

Black Mage and Geno are also Square characters who would fit into Smash Bros nicely.

Geno is so overrated it's pathetic.
Says you. Geno a symbol of true coexistance and teamwork between two of the most iconic Companies in the Gaming industry. He's the ultimate "What if" character. You know why? Because he exists.

Only reason Geno is famous is because he was in the 1st RPG to feature Mario.
The only reason Mario is famous is because he was in the first Super Mario game.

But seriously, he's popular because people like him. Just how people like every other character mentioned on this thread. He doesn't have some sort of handicap because he isn't as prevalant. He's a full fledged character, who is a force to reckon with when it comes to fans.

I don't know but the Dragon Warrior hero slaughter countless slimes with a stick. He actually has some potential since he uses both magic and weapons. Armored sword shield weilder with spells like Hurtmore, Stop spell, Return Spell, and Repel Spell. He could be made into an interesting character.

well the new poll is up, it's allows for multi responses and does not allow duplicate votes but I believe you can edit your choice if you have a change of heart.

I took that survey, and then when I clicked finish it said that "THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE SITE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!"

I want the "Challenger Approaching" screen to not look like crap. Unlike Melee and Brawl.

Or rather, I want every aspect of the UI to not look like crap.

Well I wouldn't necesseraly say that the Melee approach screen was bad, well I guess I say this Melee was basically the first Smash that I ended up playing in depth, it just brings back good memories.

What would be intesresting though is if we saw some kind of cutscene when a new character approaches for the first time when it comes to unlocking, I feel it should feel like a big epic battle that feels deserving to win rather than 'just' another battle, it definetly would make unlocking characters more fun and interesting to say the least.

OMG, this is very creative indeed, I love it!! Those tracks are amazing, and the stage itself would be wonderful as well.

I'm still hoping that Operation Rainfall succedd's I definetly would get this game along with Pandora and The Last Story, hopefully it does come to pass in the states.

Neat stage idea, i love the natural setting(although it isn't entirely true to say there aren't any others: Green Greens((kind of)), Yoshi's Island((melee, and apart from the cardboard, even brawl's Yoshi's Island is mostly natural)) and Green Hill Zone((in a sonic style kind of way)) ). However, the ones in brackets do all have their small humanistic features(such as the wooden bridge on green hill zone and the(is it ring or invincibility? Can't remember....) box on the loop-the-loop in the background) so yours does still give a fresh feel to a smash game.

I find a female Pokemon Trainer to be unneeded. I'm fine with N/Cynthia getting in, but a female PKMN Trainer or a trainer from another gen to replace Red sounds unnecessary.

Replace red? Never! The two within the same time!

Off for now!
I agree to keep Red. Though I am bias since I only like Red and Fire Red games. I don't see why we have to have more trainers. Pokemon Trainer is unique in style and represent the start of the pokemon series.

Not to mention they'd have to put in 3 characters worth of effort for one slot again but with obscure Pokemon as opposed to the 3 most iconic besides Pikachu.

Just make Green/Blue (the girl) an alt. for Pokemon Trainer. As simple as that.

I think that since we didn't get "Red" but an all-encompassing "Pokemon Trainer," that shows that we won't be getting another trainer character.

Alongwithalloftheotherreasonsofcourse.
