Tail and wings was the answer to "what more can they add?" They have all the things you'd have on a head. Eyes (White), Hair (Purple), Nose (Red), Ears (Yellow), Mouth (Blue). I mean. What more do you want? Chin? Cheekbones?

Whoa! My mind has just been blown! I did not even recognize that about the Pikmin. Okay, never mind than what I said.

I agree that any of these series could get a character (along with Takamaru and maybe Lip).

Frankly I do not think either of those two characters are likely.

Agreed. After Snake, Sonic, and Mega Man, he is the 3rd party character I think who is the most likely. And out of all potential 3rd party newcomers that aren't Mega Man (great chances), Knuckles (no chances), and Geno (small odds), he is the 3rd party character I want the most.

That was a rather remarkable; I applaud to your response.
Though I agree that the simplistic design allows a a newcomer to perhaps jump in and play a good game; however, it's the desire to master the game that's left in the field for those to take, much like other games of that nature. Sure, I don't mind playing a good round of smash with my buds and see if they can feat my skills and whatnot. And that's essentially why I enjoy Smash brothers in general as well.

Thank you. I personally played Smash Bros casually for over half a decade. However around 2004 I wanted to get much better at Melee. I worked on everything without going to the internet. I knew the game would allow me to be much better. So when I discovered Smash Boards in 2005 and L-cancelling, I learned that. I started going to tournaments in 2009, and man they are awesome.

I've never done as much "scrubby" crap until I went to tournaments. Of course, this is what happens when tournament goers are cool like with smash bros. I've done 3 vs. 1 on Hyrule Temple, Mewtwo FFA's with various close-range weapons, the Bowser Challenge (3 Bowser vs. 1 player), king of the hill, camping battles on Yoshi's Island 64/Fourside/Onett (and stages like that)... there is some fun crap you can think up!

I also once did a Brawl tournament match on the Summit. Due to the tournament rules, two players can agree to play on a banned stage. We both were 1-1, and needed a match to advance. We couldn't pick a stage we agreed on, so I joked about choosing a banned stage. The guy offered to choose the Summit. The match was awesome. It was 3 minutes of all offense (we both lost 2 of our 3 stocks in 2 minutes), and 5 minutes of "aww he's gonna die? WTF? HE LIVED!?" Even though I lost, it was still amazing! [/COLLAPSE]
Really, I just love how Smash appeals to everyone, regardless of age, sex, personal background, religion, social status, whether you like "fighting games" or "party games" or not, or even if you don't even like (other) video games at all. Hardcore fans who attend every tournament they can, casual players who like items, casual players who have "intense" matches (for them), and people who just want to have fun all play smash bros. Regardless, the focus of all of these is fun, which is why Smash Bros. is a perfect example of a perfectly thought of game. It is also marketing at it's best and easiest. If everything was aimed at "hardcore" audiences, companies Apple and Microsoft wouldn't exist. We wouldn't be using computers because it would be super complex to do simple things. Hardcore computer programmers don't need to make things simple for themselves.

I'm much more agreeable to this than your replacement idea. Sheik shouldn't and probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon, so if Impa gets in that's how I'd do it. Impa vs. Sheik might actually be pretty cool.

Agreed. Impa vs. Sheik would be a "cool" match up. This guy right here knows how to market characters.

Since this is my first post, maybe I should ask first: would it be too soon to post my roster concept, or should I get some more "cred" so to speak?

Frankly I do not think either of those two characters are likely.

I dunno, Sakurai seems to like both Lip and Takamaru, along with their respective games. Sakurai said on the Melee Dojo that if Takamaru got another game, he would probably add him in smash bros. That hasn't happened, but he would make a great "WTF?" character.

By the way, I think since most of us here have went out to look for a "WTF?" character that most "WTF?" characters won't be all that crazy to us. However to the casual smash bros and video game fan, it will probably still be as big as a "WTF?" as the Pokémon Trainer or Solid Snake.

By the way, I like the Orange and Green Pikmin ideas. That would be awesome if they became a reality. I think that until then though, we have to wait to see what new Pikmin we will (probably) inevitably get in Pikmin 3. I've said it before, I'll say it again: if we get 5 new Pikmin, I wouldn't be surprised. If that were to happen (and Sakurai got information on it), then a 2nd Pikmin franchise character should be considered. Of course, that is assuming Sakurai considers dozens upon dozens of newcomers (which I think he does) and doesn't automatically mean "oh a 2nd Pikmin character should get in." Rather, he should consider it with his staff. If they like it, test it. If they like the test, try adding it.

I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I have seen about a half dozen of them on this thread since last summer. This makes me think that someone should really start achieving movesets so we can see all kinds of different ideas. Plus is someone is super right, we can totally give 'em props!

I think a Dixie moveset is fairly simple, but I couldn't figure out what she could do for her B^. Today I came up with having Squaks the Parrot lift her up (think Snake). It would give her enough air to be able to propel around with her hair if needed

There is no point IMO. You can pretty much be like, "Sakurai has once talked about how he likes Mach Rider, Takamaru, and Lip, so he could pick one of them" But really... you dont have much to go off of.

I like your Roster, though I have a few qualms:

1. Cutting anyone from Brawl. Sorry, it's just not happening. Seeing as it was Pokemon Trainer you cut, B/W Trainer would at least cushion it somewhat. Though I can't say the same for the Charizard fanatics.

2. Krystal. Just no. Either keep StarFox at 3 characters (as it doesn't need 4) or add Peppy instead. Or alternatively, add Goroh to be alongside Captain Falcon.

3. No Roy. Roy's highly likely to return.

4. The fact I have to "insert" characters into your Roster. While yes, they would be choices I would want, it defeats the purpose of making your Roster.

Other than that, good job.

i'd be open to another Kid Icarus rep, but i'm not sure who. Nobody jumps out at me. I see Magnus, Palutena and Medusa suggested a lot, but they all seem like odd fits for some reason. (it would be funny if they just outright trolled everyone and made the Eggplant Wizard a character.)

I like Roy, actually more than Ike. but i ran this on a combination of the "flavor of the month" theory combined with the "Sakurai won't drop anyone if he can avoid it" theory, so that's why i put those three. though, is Fire Emblem a big enough name to merit four characters? I'd add Roy right away if that were the case, but i haven't read up on it enough to know.

how 'bout the sky guardian Levias? maybe have Loftwings fly in sometimes, like the Arwings on Corneria. For added epic, he could fly through the Thunderhead and you may have to avoid lightning strikes.

Really why we all try to predict this character or that character is subjective. Plus we want to get "a feel" for who to expect.

I use to read that thread (the pre-Brawl Smash Wii thread and the Brawl Generation Discussion thread) as a lurker. I also use to post on the famed "Wiseguy's Prediction" thread a lot, along with other such threads. Wiseguy was my arch-rival, hahaha!

As for your roster, I don't like any of the cuts (especially the Pokémon Trainer), I don't see Ghirahim having much of a shot, I don't think Krystal has much of a shot either, and I think also for that 3rd Fire Emblem roster spot it should definitely be Krom, Roy, or nobody. No other Fire Emblem character in my opinion has much of a shot.

I also felt you could have added a character preference or a character you think has the best shot for your retro/3rd party slot. You could have kept the *insert 3rd party character here* thing, but you could have also listed the character you would like most and/or the character you think is the most likely to get that roster spot.

The true Roy successor. Marth and Ike are too slow compared to Roy's sheer speed due to his fast-falling. Lyn could be similar to that, in a way, except with special moves that help her keep the pressure even more.

Specifically, let her have lots of warping attacks.
