No? That's too bad.

So my girlfriend and I were bored so we got my camcorder out (not where this story is going, sorry to disappoint) and we decided to watch whatever video tape was in it at the time. Therein lies an entire hour of WHOBO footage from the door step of my house, to the anime con, to the end of the tournament. I thought it was sweet. If I get the free time winter break I'll make a montage or something, but no promises.

I miss playing Smash and I miss some of you guys (Steven, Nolan, August, etc). That is to say I don't miss the pompous, self-centered, and immature pricks.

So everyone, on a serious note, I'd like to bring up an SWF policy that I don't like, and it affects most of us here. I know August agrees with me, and I'd like all the support I can get. Also, nothing against you UTD Zac, it's just the general policy that irks me.

I don't think the NM thread needs moderation. Doesn't everyone here hang out and smash with each other pretty often? If I insult some random dude on SWF for no reason, I maybe get infracted, but really nothing happens. If I start actually insulting someone in NM, I have to deal with the fact that I was a total *** to them in real life, which is way more serious than a stupid infraction on a board about a game. See what I'm getting at? I have real life reprecussions, which actually matter. We are self moderated because there are actual concequences for my actions here. Why do we need a moderator when we are literally basically just having conversations through an internet forum? I only see need for moderation if someone or a group of people from somewhere else come and cause problems. We (and other social threads) should be left well enough alone.

Anyways, I've suggested this in the SWF survey, and if I can get enough support, I'm considering taking it to the policy dispute center.

Right? I could make a half decent one, but there isn't that much exciting footage on it. I remember my battery dying and not being able to charge it, but watching it was rather nostalgic. I miss the scene. The good parts of it anyways.

There are few people that really get to my nerves, and surprisingly a majority of them I've met in the Smash scene. Not everyone is bound to get along, but I lurvz j00.

I think Goyf brought up the exact reason WHY mods are necessary for the social boards (it's still a public forum,) but I also think that he brought up arguments as for why the rules need to be a bit different on them (self moderation).

I think what Davis has been saying about certain people he doesn't really like brings up counterarguments to the thought of "self moderation" though- rivalries, disputes, and bitterness still occur among people who actually know each other.



BTW, mods are EXTREMELY lenient regarding the social (regional) boards, so in all honesty I don't think it's really something that needs to be worried about all that much (if at all).

Zac's nice enough, he's just making sure the southwest players aren't posting up porn on smashboards (again, it's a public forum made to be friendly to all ages) or making suicide pacts ;)

This^

I understand where you are coming from. It's a social room. You should be a lot more free and open about what you can post to others here. DTL made me realize that way back in the beginning days of being a mod.

Since then I've haven't really modded anything in a social board unless it was Censor Dodging (this still no reason to do this) or Inappropriate Images (because little kids visit this site). Other than that, I leave you guys alone =)

I have a friend that will team with me for the main doubles, but I still need someone for low tiers. I'm sorta new to the tournament scene but I'd like to try Zelda for low tier and I'm in New Mexico, I'll even cover the entry fee if you don't want to just lose money (cause I know I suck lol).

Good! Glad to hear it. I very well might. It depends how my studying for my math final goes. I find it depressing that the ONLY final I have to take is on Monday rather than, say, Wednesday or Thursday or something.
