They reused Pinkie Pie's giant gasp from the first episode, which bugged me.

I fell asleep before the second act happened, but I DVR'd it, so I'm gonna rewatch after I go do some things.

I liked the super long delay in when the bird breathed in and later coughed near the end of the second section (not including the intro). It's exactly how I cough some times.

EDIT: Also, this is the first episode where I really noticed Tara Strong's voice, mostly because her voice gets closer and closer to Princess Clara the more "panicky" her character gets.

Maybe your friend is an ~auto type of brony. You gotta show him something good in order to get him to watch something. I suggest more Applejack or Night of Pony which has a bit of everything.
