She already knew about it anyways and doesn't need to hear it from Spike. Also she would put her trust in Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's rescuing abilities as much as Applejack needed Twilight to trust her honesty in letting go. Gives it a more dramatic tease for Spike. Or something.
