Yeah... I prefer wood houses myself. Stone and cobblestone are far more fitting for castles or anything involving lava or fire.

But stone bricks are amazing. I am so glad they can be crafted.

I honestly don't understand why wooden houses exist. I find it easier to get cobblestone, and I have more of it, too.

Cobblestone happens to be uglier. Also wooden buildings fit certain aesthetics.

I happen to be near the woods so a wooden house seems to be more befitting of the location I'm at. Most of the time I'll just build into the ground and make a hole and make that look nice or just change the skin so that the cobblestone looks like actual bricks so that it doesn't look as ugly.

I'm considering buying the game, because I want something that I can do whenever I'm bored. A game to just turn on and mess around for a while. And I hear Minecraft is a great way to blow time, but I'm having a small bit of trouble figuring out what I personally would do in the game. Can anyone help a potential buyer purchase the game? More things in the game to grab my attention?

With the game, you can build anything you want. People have built massive things, people have made art...it all depends on your personal preference.

With 1.8 out, Adventure, exploring, and survival have become a lot more fun to do too.

I am proud I made a floating island. Though, when you fact that everything is random, and I kind of constructed everything by placing things at random, i suppose that didn't take much work. but I plan to do more.

It's too bad fire doesn't spread like that now. Fire doesn't seem so threatening and manageable, and I think back at that time, fire truly defined itself much like it's real life self - quickly to get out of hand and impossible to control.

anybody good with vertical circuits? I'm trying to align multiple circuits but I cant run redstone repeaters under a torch, and using dust messes the circuit.

I decided to work on this a bit in my time between classes and I think I got it. I use piston powered OR gates to send the circuit down...

See, this is how I do fireplaces.

The two "wood planks" above the center of the double stone slabs are actually double wood slabs. They're exposed to the Netherrack fire below, so if they were planks, my rather nice house would go up in flames. D: The two planks above the double stone slabs on the sides are protected by brick, which make up my chimney~ c:

My friend had the same issue, something to do with his mac not supporting the version of openGL or something.

He had to downgrade to 1.7.3, aaand I did the same since we were playing a multiplayer server together.

SPC has been updated, it allows you to switch a map between creative and survival (As a new feature)

That's odd, openGL works for my Mac. The game seems to take up more ram in the main menu screen than the game itself for me tho. So if I have minecraft open, other applications lag, it stops after I open a world though.

It's not a problem for all macs, just certain older OSes don't support some versions of OpenGL. I don't remember what one he has though.

Most computers have 4 GB of RAM, since it's enough for anyone who isn't maxing out Crysis on two monitors at the same time.
