If it turns out that the guy was
just hiding out... for fifty-thousand years... not telling anyone his story
I'm going to be butthurt to the extreme. Talk about retcon, mang. Of course, if it turns out
that he was at Ilos in one of the cryopods and only just recently woke up
I could accept it, I guess. That's still a bit weird since
Vigil's prime directive was to keep himself running and functional for as long as possible, which I would assume to mean that he wouldn't even risk lowering his power levels to what would cause glitches such as NOT KNOWING THERE ARE STILL PROTHEANS ALIVE IN THE FACILITY
. But better.

I dunno, I believe in Bioware I guess, but I'm not crazy about it, nor the
anthropomorphic EDI >_>
It's not a retcon.
If that small unprepared power source on Ilos could keep hundreds of Protheans alive for hundreds of years then that same power source could keep 1 Prothean alive for thousands. We know some Protheans made it to the Citadel, and that power source could easily keep someone alive until the next cycle.
Not that that's the explanation for him. But just look at the ME2 squaddie that F8AL doesn't have yet, I'm sure people reacted the same when they learned he was going to be a squaddie, but look how that turned out. Just trust Bioware and wait for the game.

Okay, I'm back with a brand new sparkling copy of ME2 and a 2800 MSP card!

My current plan is to now beat ME2, then input the code to get the extra character and DL and complete all of the DLC on my 2nd play though. (Which I will start immediately.)

Yay or nay?

EDIT: More questions...

When I start another play through, do my squad/teammates have the existing powers and are levelled up from my previous play through?
No, your teammates aren't, but Shepard is.

I remember in ME1 Shep had those visions.

I don't remember them ever coming up again in ME2. Did we do something to make them disappear?
Shepard only saw the visions because of the 2 beacons. There were no beacons in ME2.

My god people how lost you'd all be without me here.

It's been years since I played either 1 or 2, and my recent Obama Shepard just barely got Mordin, lol.

So were the beacons giving him the visions on some sort of timed basis?

Or did they give it to him once, and they just activated whenever they happened in the game?

Just did the IFF mission. Holy ****, so many husks over there and those other big things! (I forgot the names but they have armor...)

I also just activated Legion and we're gonna be best buds!

I should be done ME2 by this weekend! Going to do Legion's loyalty mission then the suicide mission then start another play through with the extra guy and I'll DL all the DLC.

I spoke to ODIN over XBL, he explained the DLC stuff to me. I'll just do all of them before the suicide mission on my 2nd play through, no biggie.

I'm still using my friend's used copy but once I start another game next week, I'll open up my copy and use the code. I'm assuming the code is tied to the disc, not the console?

And thanks, Pluvia for answering my question.

I'm not sure what the code is tied to, I think it's your profile.

Don't do Arrival (one of the DLC's) until after the Suicide Mission. Admiral Hackett will contact you early in the game but just ignore him and wait until after the SM before you do it.

Why? Because it makes more sense storywise to do it afterwards. It's not gamebreaking to do it before the SM, it just makes more sense to do it afterwards.

Got it, thanks.

the code is a 1 time use thing, it's not tied to anything so...

if you get a code that isn't used, you can use it, no matter what copy of the game you own, it's like the free xbl things

Oh yeah you'll have to download some things from within the game, like Zaeed, rather than on the marketplace. The option will be on the main menu somewhere.

Or don't. Really Livewire you're one step away from telling him where to put everyone during the SM.
I would NEVER do that. The closest I've ever done on stuff like that was say something like the game dropping hints, which doesn't say anything at all. I swear I'm not trying to spoil ANYTHING for the guy. Even knowing he's going to do a second playthrough.

Yeah but telling him to upgrade his ship and do Legion's loyalty mission fast is more than hints, it's telling him how to play the game.

I haven't heard that at all. Also Hello Masamune. I haven't seen you around since.............forever?

how you been? I was forced to give up my Seph sig if you didn't notice...:(
I've been alright, I rarely post anymore, and when I do it's usually selective threads.

And sorry to hear that. But it's good to see an old face around.

It's with regards to
the fact that those that bought the standard edition have to pay $10 for the Prothean while those who have ordered the CE don't.
I think it's more that it's a PROTHEAN WHO IS ALIVE that is DLC AT LAUNCH AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE GAME AS PART OF THE MAIN STORY that is pissing people off.

Just a guess.

Also, we gotta play more Grey. We're a great frakkin' team. :)

No, your teammates aren't, but Shepard is.
So I've been thinking about this, IMO it doesn't make any sense. I'm currently a level 22 vanguard and when I start another game, I'll still be level 22. You said that my teammates won't have the stuff/powers/points which I gave them during my 1st game? But then that means I'll only be able to give them 8 levels of points during my 2nd game. (Hope this makes sense.)

HELP!!!

Got it, thanks. Prolly gonna finish ME2 either today or tomorrow.

And I'm happy that a new copy of ME2 is $19.99 these days and it's only been out for 2 years while other games like MW2 (from 2009) are still $39.99 >.>

Your levels carry over. But I think they reset, so you can reassign them.

I'm 90% certain of this. I know in the first one you couldn't, but I thought they fixed this in 2.

I'm confused, when you said "your" you mean mine and my teammates?

What?

Yes. Your levels. If you are level 22, your teammates are also level 22, and that will carry over in new game +.

You should also be able to reassign new skill/squad/talent/whateveryouwannacallthem points.
Okay then, Pluvia mislead me then. I think? D:

So you aren't in smash anymore? Mass Effect Now?.

and yeah it sucks because that sig was the most epic one on the boards:(

It's good to see you still exist though. After the whole FF Fanboy war got played out I haven't seen you around much.

I'm surprised that people are surprised, seeing as though we've known about him for almost a year, and by the looks of the leaks
he's in everyones game, just not everyones squad unless you have the DLC.

Spoilers about how we came to that conclusion, but I tried to be a vague as possible:

There is a chance that he couldn't be mind you, but in the leaks he was pivotal in one scene that's mentioned the most out of every other scene and has huge repercussions in the game, assuming the final draft of it is the one they go with. It's just that during that scene he's not in your squad and you're tasked with protecting him, which has lead a lot of us to believe that he'll be in everyones game because of the importance of that scene, it's just that the DLC will give you the option of taking him on your squad.

Vague enough, thank you.

Oh yeah, that.

I don't have class today so I'm open for it tonight. I want to finish level maxing my Turian and then move on to my Drell Vanguard or Krogan Soldier.

Okay, so I'm now doing the suicide mission.

Legion's loyalty mission was pretty easy, the last part (where you gotta defend) wasn't too difficult cause of the automatic defence turrets.

And I settled the argument between Legion and Tali, like a boss.

I picked Tali for the specialist role and Jacob for the fire team leader. I hope I picked right.

And thank god I upgraded the normandy. :smirk:
