@Mario & sonic
I'm saying who needs more than +2 overall
Really going above +2 overall is kinda worthless IMO

And high stability pretty much=underwater winning lol

I guess it all depends on preference. If high handling isn't your priority, there's always high off-road to consider.

Of course, it doesn't matter if you use the Monster, the Red Monster, the Slick, or the Gold Tires, as all four of those wheels are quite slow underwater; at best, you can only get a 3.5 sea speed with them. Of course, the Gold Tires don't lose any sea handling.

High Accel is good, but you need some sort of Speed to win. And Handling can be worked around by skill alone. You just gotta practice with a kart and learn its "feel."

But I use a Feather character 90% of the time, and getting their Speed up can be a pain at times, but at least the Accel and Handling are easy to build up.

Feather weights are the easiest characters to customize imo.
It's ******** that they have 4 accel while heavies have 2 accel, yet heavies have 4 speed and featherweights have 3 speed. If their speed was dropped down another point value it'd be more balanced.

But basically featherweights have high stats in the majority of the stats in the game. You really only have to worry about your speed.

Not true. Medium weight characters are the easiest to customize. You can pretty much raise any particular stat you want with a much wider range of customization options, while maintaining a good balance between multiple stats.

Feather characters do have a nice balance between important stats, but they do have the problem of raising the Speed stat to great heights. Plus you have to sacrifice so much to do so.

Its just that Feather characters don't give you the luxury to use parts as freely as you would like to, depending on your preference.

Also, Feather characters have the lowest Land Speed by default. Everyone stats seem to be pretty balanced too. There are always cases that a certain class will have a significant advantage over that class' polar opposite. However, customization allows you to better your class' strengths, or to improve on their weakness.

I will admit that Feather characters do have some of the most superior stats by default, however, they lack the freedom of customization that other classes do, as changing one stat drastically affects another. A fair trade, if you ask me.

When taking into account the in-game stats only, all characters have a 16.25 stat total. In terms of worst to best stats...

Red: Lowest stat
Green: Highest stat

Feather
Speed: 1.75 - 4.5
Acceleration: 2.75 - 5.5
Weight: 0.75 - 3.5
Handling: 1.25 - 5.5
Off-Road: 1.25 - 5.5

Light
Speed: 2 - 4.75
Acceleration: 2.25 - 5
Weight: 1.25 - 4
Handling: 1.25 - 5.5
Off-Road: 1 - 5.25

Medium
Speed: 2.25 - 5
Acceleration: 1.75 - 4.5
Weight: 1.75 - 4.5
Handling: 1 - 5.25
Off-Road: 1 - 5.25

Cruiser
Speed: 2.5 - 5.25
Acceleration: 1.25 - 4
Weight: 2.25 - 5
Handling: 0.75 - 5
Off-Road: 1 - 5.25

Heavy
Speed: 2.75 - 5.5
Acceleration: 0.75 - 3.5
Weight: 2.75 - 5.5
Handling: 0.75 - 5
Off-Road: 0.75 - 5

It seems that acceleration and weight are the biggest rivals, while for speed, either handling, or off-road is sacrificed to boost it.

I'm not sure which game would have more, the ones off the top of my head in MKWii are Wario's Goldmine, Grumble Volcano, Coconut Mall, and Mushroom Gorge. I believe these are the only ones found so far for MK7:

Wuhu Loop
Koopa Cape
DK Jungle
Maka Wuhu
The Koopa cape and DK jungle glitch is not worth using in time trials and would hardly be useful on wifi.

So? Glitches are glitches, and based on the context of my post, that's all I was looking for. Hardly useful or not, it still has the word "useful" in there. Both the Koopa Cape and DK Jungle course glitches grant the opportunity to sneak into a higher position, or if you have a mushroom in first, the opportunity at a larger gap.

You gain about 6 seconds total if you did the glitch on those two tracks on all three laps. That can be quite significant if items don't severely affect the positions.

I officially own Mario Kart 7 now, thanks to an early birthday present from my parents; a Nintendo 3DS.

So far, I've 3-star ranked all the 50cc GPs, and unlocked the following parts...

1: Paraglider
2: Peach Parasol
3: Wood
4: Mushroom
5: Egg 1

I'm actually happy to get the Paraglider first, since apart from the Super Glider, that's the glider that I'll tend to use the most.

Regarding my starting combos...

1: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Super Glider
2: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Super Glider
3: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Paraglider
4: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Paraglider
5: Yoshi + Bolt Buggy + Wood + Paraglider
6: Yoshi + Egg 1 + Roller + Paraglider

Next up is the 100cc, but I'll probably be doing some Super Mario 3D Land as well.

And the road to 5000 coins begins. Good think MK7 is a good game. The cups shouldn't be a problem, but 3 staring them all is quite challenging.

That sure was painful. The Egg 1 was my 5th part to be unlocked, while the Paraglider was my very first.

Speaking of which, I've unlocked some more parts today...

6: Barrel Train
7: Flower Glider
8: Cact-X
9: Cloud 9
10: Zucchini
11: Bumble V
12: Sponge

However, I still don't have the B Dasher, which is a part that I'll be using for Time Trial purposes; I do have the Zucchini, but the B Dasher's handling is slightly better.

Yeah I didn't think it would take so long >.<. I love the Paraglider but I find myself using the Flower Glider more.

Currently I've been using ShyGuy w/ Barrel Train, Mushroom Wheels, Flower Glider. It's working pretty well :awesome:

How are you doing with the GPs?

So far, I've 3-star ranked all the 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc GPs. All that's left is Mirror Mode.

Regarding the various combos that I've used up to this point...

1: Koopa Troopa + Barrel Train + Roller + Paraglider
2: Koopa Troopa + Bumble V + Monster + Super Glider
3: Koopa Troopa + Cloud 9 + Monster + Super Glider
4: Koopa Troopa + Cloud 9 + Wood + Super Glider
5: Koopa Troopa + Egg 1 + Monster + Super Glider
6: Koopa Troopa + Egg 1 + Monster + Paraglider
7: Koopa Troopa + Zucchini + Monster + Paraglider
8: Rosalina + Birthday Girl + Roller + Paraglider
9: Yoshi + Egg 1 + Monster + Super Glider
10: Yoshi + Egg 1 + Roller + Paraglider

As you can see, I've done a lot more combos with Koopa Troopa, since I can keep its acceleration at around average levels, especially when using the Monster tires.

There are also five combos that I used, prior to getting the Egg 1...

1: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Super Glider
2: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Paraglider
3: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Super Glider
4: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Paraglider
5: Yoshi + Bolt Buggy + Wood + Paraglider

Not exactly. While I did 3-star rank all the 50cc and 100cc GPs in one go, I did have to retry the 150cc Special Cup and 150cc Leaf Cup to get the 3-star ranks for them; I got a 2-star rank on my first go for those two cups. Strangely, 150cc is not quite as hard as people claimed it to be, but your combo, and item luck, do play a factor as well.

Heh, better than what I did. I had to retry one of the cups on 100cc, then too many for 150 and Mirror. I already got the Gold Tires, so I saw no point in 3 star'ing everything once I 3 star'ed 100cc and half of 150cc.

Just got bored with Single Player. =P

Out of curiosity, what combos were you using during that time?

I don't remember. Its been awhile. =P

I used Shy Guy as my character. At the time, I was experimenting a lot with various combinations.

Also, this message was sent from my 3DS. =D

As of today, I'm now a 3-star ranked racer, all thanks to a lot of hard work with Mirror Mode. And I now have over 1800 coins, and the following parts...

13: Blue Seven
14: Pipe Frame
15: Slim
16: Soda Jet
17: Tiny Tug

Now, just to let you know, I did all of this without using any glitches; no Maka Wuhu glitching in my book.

Hmm... This is a very interesting, if this is 100% accurate it may make the superglider/beast/gold more of an option.

this also might make the Zucchini useless(Blue 7>zucchini) in certain situations if you think about it.
I'm gonna do some testing.
Good find Timmy :D

If that is true about Accel, then I'll have to rethink some combos.

Plus, I'll finally be able to find a use for the Beast glider. =D

Sent via 3DS.

That does seem pretty odd that acceleration doesn't get boosted the way that it should be. I'd think that a 4 would be slightly better than a 3.75.

I think it is better to focus on Speed, or find a combo that Speed comes close to your Accel. It makes all the difference in a match if you have speed. But, you don't want to leave Accel in the dust. A decent balance is key.

Which is why you'll see A LOT of Metal Mario in Dasher B with Gold Tires combo whenever you go online. They rarely win since their Accel sucks so badly. You get hit by an item, it feels like it takes FOREVER to get back to top speed again.

That combo may be great for Time Trials where perfection is key, but it is terrible when variables such as items play a factor.
