I never played Ally's Falcon, neither did Kirin or Boss from what I know of...I never entered a low-tier tourney in my life x.x

Maybe I'll get a chance to one day...Kadaj is not letting me quit so I'll still be around

Go Kadaj! I played Ally and DMBrandon in not low tiers and I got *****. Could've been worse. My little bro played him and M2K first round once. Felt so bad for him. Seriously though Ally's Falcon is amazing. Him and Yes! got 3rd in a low tier tourney as double Falcon. DOUBLE FALCON! Seriously, that shouldn't be happening.

Anyone know what happened to that thread where Pierce asked for Mario advice a while back?
That had a lot of useful stuff I was planning on re-reading (Looking for more stuff to practice, other than generally not sucking), but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Man, you're lazy. All you needed to do was press ctrl+F.

If you want to stop sucking, drop Kirby. lol j/k
Haha thanks. I'd actually just found it when I saw that post XD

And... I pretty much have. I mean, I don't want to drop him, since I love Kirby and am probably better at him, but every time I'm at the character select screen, I just want to pick Mario. I'm waiting to see how these next few tournies go, but I think I have more or less switched mains.

If by better you mean "Has a ******** Dair, disjointed hitboxes that make no sense and an over powered Fsmash that Sakurai designed making it so you're unable to DI the initial hit" then yes I'd have to agree with you.

I second that, I also main Kirby for high tier matches (Not Marth he makes the MU more fun with Mario and low priority) like Snake since Kirby camps better than Snake himself.

Kirby compared to Mario as far as I can tell only does better against Metaknight, Dedede, and Zero Suit Samus (not to mention Falco to a small degree, but vs Falco is basically even for Mario anyway so if you're good, you have a shot to win in that matchup anyway imo). Against anyone else, I don't think he does better than Mario. Rather, I'd say Mario does better against Marth and the Ice Climbers.

"Gonzo combo."

"That ain't Kirby"

"No, that ain't Kirby."

Hey, at least his smashes aren't as dumb as Game and Watch's .

<---stopped using Dsmash for anything but KOs.

I figure Mario doesn't have problems with damage racking, but has problems KOing. A fresh Dsmash, though easy to DI, is moderately deadly near the ledge and spaced properly. I replaced my jab cancels with Jab -> Utilt or more jab -> grab. It took some doing, but I'm out of that jab -> Dsmash habit. The speed and range are both comparable to MKs, and lord-knows it's spammable. It's a pretty even trade in the long run depending on the cirumstance; a little less damage for a little more KO power.

It's working well for me. It's an actually reliable KO move, and though my combo damage suffers, it's not too bad. I normally ended combos with Dsmash or Bthrow normally, but now it's mostly Bthrow/Fthrow depending on my placement. I especially save it for matchups like ZSS who's hard to Fsmash, leaving Usmash your only real KO option. Having Dsmash fresh is a lovely alternative.

Maybe something to try if the kills aren't coming for you.

So I realized I have camping and aggressive problems. I use fireballs too much for camping instead of bairs and I commit to attacks too often. Any advice for the aggressive?

Matador, I will agree that Dsmash is a great kill move on the side. I still like to do Jab -> Dsmash from occasion, though. Although I usually mix up my jab -> options.

This very strongly (Though I actually prefer Mario vs ZSS. I mean, Kirby can do some rather gay things to her, but she has a lot more trouble forcing an approach from Mario, and fireball spam can make things tough on her.).

Also, Xero, you have to look at Mario's advantages too, like the fact that he actually has an approach and a certain amount of speed. He also comboes slightly better IMO and has safer kill options (Not saying Kirby is lacking them, but other than Bair, all his kill moves are very punishable.).

Hmmm... I sometimes use Dsmash for KOs/gimp setups, but I usually end up using it as a "get off me" or damage racker, and keep Usmash for KOs (unless I can refresh Dsmash/land a Fsmash). Is this smart?

Technically, I wouldn't save D-smash for KOs when it has less KO power but more damage than Up-smash, and it's also slower/same speed at best out of shield (depending which way you face).

I use D-smash as a gtfo move. That's what I think it is best for. It's pretty safe on block, and it does great damage.

I mean sure, it's nice when you get it off near the edge, but 5 frames of 15% is pretty **** good especially since it's safe on block 80-90% of the time.

Then again if you know me, you know that I really like to Up-smash out of shield for KOs.

Up-smash OoS is a very good option for KOs, I like to save it too. But sometimes it just doesn't work. I've actually KOed with Dsmash a few times, and it's makes me feel awesome! (Not as awesome as I do when I kill with Utilt or Up-B though.)

I also have to mention Dsmash open up some gimping opportunities since it knocks back you opponent at a low altitude so that's' another good reason.

EDIT: Bair camping is my specialty, but Stale-Move Negation kills it after a while....

other 2 vids are there, u can look for it.

ldk why but on that day of the mm, l had either a slippery finger (where you would want to do a dsmash but instead it comes out to a dash attack -_- pretty sure ppl ALWAYS have these problems) and/or controller problems idk

another thing is that idk why but i kept getting scared i'd get stage spiked by the upb and coulda resulted a edgehog and won in several instances >_>. Oh and l still miss too many good openings ugh -_-

any other things l should work on would be helpful kthx.

No Up-smash? You already used 10 attacks after the first Up-smash. This one would be pretty likely to kill him, not to mention it would do more damage than DA if it didn't.

More N-air offstage.

N-air or Up-B him out of his Jab cancels.

Everything else is fine.

The only large problem I saw was you could have gotten a much better reward for punishing his mistakes. When he missed a grab or a dair or w/e strong and laggy move he used, you would sometimes punish him with something weak like up b or dash attack (which I think was an accident). At some points you could have gotten guaranteed up smashes on him. There was also one time when he utilted you too early so that you got out of the hitstun before he was out of the lag and he was at like 180%. You hit him with a uair when nair would have been better.

You also let him off too easily when you were edgeguarding him, often times you would stay on stage and try to cape him (you may hvae been trying to cape teleport, I'm not sure). It didn't do anything and you could have just ran off the edge to edgeguard him because staying on stage wasn't as effective. You also let go of the edge too soon from edgehogging him because I guess you got nervous and thought your invincibility frames wouldn't last long enough. You probably noticed that yourself though.

At some points you had free time to charge FLUDD, but you either wouldn't do anything or you would camp with fireballs, which at that distance arn't very useful because they can be seen coming too easily and you are too far away to work off of his reaction.

There was one stock when he got to over 200%. It could have been easily stopped if you stood next to the edge while he was trying to get back up and held your shield, if you attacks your shield with his get up attack just down smash him.

This is from watching the full set, so it might sound wonky to people who didn't.

i mean there were OBVIOUS times where i predict him correctly (like he would dair, i'd punish the lag but instead it comes out dash attack WTF!?!?) but it just didn't come out right like wtf man

there was a time where in brinstar, i predicted his dair, and i was GONNA charge a dsmash but instead i just crouched instead WTF -_____-

i forgot about fludd, i think i was caping too much lol, i gotta work on reviewing gimp options.

maaaaad gay i hate slippery fingers how do ppl fix this lol
