Me, steep, ONAGA, Caleb and Xero were doing Mario FFAs at SiiS3. It was kinda gay since sometimes you have to deal with two Mario's edgeguarding you at once.

But it's still fun.

Geez, 5 Mario players?

We used to do mario ffas all the time on wifi. Never done it offline though despite MD/VA being Mario main central.

Both A2 and Pierce have extremely radical views on things concerning Mario.

I find both their posts ridiculous at times...

I dunno, it's not like I even disagree with a lot of what Pierce says, but if he thinks Marth is harder than Falco for Mario on the majority of stages, I'm going to call him out on that.

Probably the most silly part of why he thinks Mario does particularly bad against Marth is his explanation as to how Mario gets better reward against Metaknight. Like...no. Mario's combos and followups are definitely worse on Metaknight than they are on Marth. And the difference between edgeguarding the two characters is really understated.

Now FALCO is a character that Mario really can't combo at all if they play right. You can sorta edgeguard him if he wastes his jump poorly, but I'd consider his recovery more difficult for Mario to deal with than Marth's outside of that. Falco's juggles are also more reliable, and his edgetrapping is BETTER than Marth's. Add his bull**** Jab and tilts, D-throw -> BDACUS, and the fact his B-air and F-smash are just really stupidly better than Mario's, this is a character that Mario really struggles to get massive reward on, let alone touch.

But he's not Metaknight at least, so you can **** him on Brinstar.

He's probably right.

But the matchup is just gay as **** to actually play. Like, you basically have to play the matchup with the mindset that you will absolutely never commit to anything unless you know he can't punish it. Very very slow matchup.

Getting kills is also annoying, but possible if you edgeguard well, and hit confirm off Jab cancels reliably (you can reverse U-smash Lucario for sweetspotting both Jabs...just sayin)

He went on hiatus. He's back now.

I just don't think it's harder. I played both MUs today. Falco is just a pain because I hate doing anything risky when I'm at CG percent and it's not easy. Now Marth on the other hand is so aggravating. He just swings his sword and it works. EVERYTHING that was said on the Mario boards failed (Uair OOS, edgeguarding, camping, juggling, following up, everything). I definitely felt like there was more things to follow up with Falco after I hit him. On the other hand, I now believe that Falco is -3 (shouldn't win in a competitive setting). The main reason that Marth is harder for Mario is that Mario's biggest weakness (the fact that he has no real advancing options in front of him) is Marth's biggest strength.

pierce once said that mario beats lucario..LOL
It's even.

I don't know which Falco or Marth players you're playing Inferno, but I'd easily consider a Falco that knows Mario's specifics far more scary than a Marth that knows Mario's specifics.

Believe it or not, Marth has to actually first get close to make Mario face forward and then capitalize. Falco doesn't even need to try. He just camps, and and Caping alone isn't going to stop it since he has a reflector as well. He dominates you facing forwards AND backwards at least as badly as Marth does, just with grounded tools and lasers, as well as his retardedly disjointed lingering 4 frame B-air.

And yes combos are balls on Marth. But I don't know who you're playing. The point is combos are even worse on Falco, who you can't even start anything on at 0% most of the time as well as the fact Jabbing him is pointlessly not rewarding. Marth at least is floaty enough that things put him in the air long enough so that you can hit him afterwards. Falco falls waaaaay too fast for that in most situations.

I HIGHLY doubt you practiced the majority of the tactics you said didn't work against Marth. The stuff I mention that I've been working on is stuff that I've had quite a bit of time to devise and implement in matches. Your experience sounds more like my first time implementing the tips that I'm trying to explain to everyone right now. Yes I got ****ed over for trying things that were new and not making them work. I highly suspect this is your current status against Marth.
