Yo, what is the longest boss fight you have ever done?

For me it was this:
Game: Super Mario Bros.
Level: Castle 1
Boss: King Koopa (YAHYUHZ)

Okay, that was just a joke.

But seriously, what is the longest boss fight ever?

The longest boss fights I've ever played didn't actually require crazy time investments, but took me forever because of my stupidity.

There are two of these off the top of my head. One was against a boss in MGS2; I think it was the bomb guy, but I'm not positive. IIRC, you could do minor damage to him by knocking him down, but could inflict more damage once he was on the floor. I didn't realize this and I think I killed him over the course of an hour or two with melee attacks.

The other one was a boss in SotC whose motion could be controlled. You're expected to control him such that he leads you to one of a few places where you can then inflict damage to him, but I didn't know this and just let him wander around forever until he would pass by one of those places on his own accord.

IIRC, the longest boss fight I've ever watched was against one of the last optional bosses in FF12.

Seraph Lamington from Disgaea DS. The second time. I had forgotten to save after Vulcanus and several of my heavy hitters were hurting. It took about 30 minutes (with animations turned off) to finally kill Lamington with a Prinny of all people.

the end of Legend of the Dragoon. I forget its name.

Yea, it's Melbu Frahma, that battle was definetly one of the longest, but not the hardest.

The longest battle i'd have to say was in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance where I was at the last chapter going up against and successfully defeating Ashnard WITHOUT any casualties, it took me approximatly 3 hours to get it right.

I've always wondered why the gaming forum is called Light House, and not something that's actually appropriate.

Pandemonium Warden from FFXI has yet to be defeated (as far as I know). One clan fought him for 18 hours before losing.

The last boss in Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.

Either I was horribly underleveled, or I was doin' it rong, but it took me near an hour to beat. And it wasn't even hard, I was dodging all the attacks. It just took forever.

Other times bosses have taken me forever were due to my own mistakes. Generally, bosses from Tales of the Abyss on Unknown. I wasn't using CCs correctly, so I could only do 1s to the boss. My brother and I once alternated 1s a boss with 39,400HP to death. It took a long time.

This.

And just to note, I was using cheats that boosted my damage output to absurb levels. It still took several hits to destroy each appendage, and I can't even begin to count how many hits to her head she took. :(

Grand Jewel in Legend of Dragoon is the one that probably took me a while and I remember it quite well, sadly.

Others too, I have fought bosses for over an hour before >_>.

Longest ever would probably be bosses in MMOs. I don't play MMOs though so I can't really name one off the top of my head.

Longest boss that took to kill for me would be Yiazmat in FFXII.

Longest boss I got stuck on beating would be the last boss on Crisis Core.
First time I played the game, I started on Hard Mode. I also didn't do too many missions either. I thought Hard mode would've been something like KH's hard mode.

I found The End in MGS3's hardest difficult to be time consuming as well.

What!? I gotta find the stats for that boss.

So, I found them. While it has been a very long time since I've played, and I'm not sure if it's an entire boss sequence at the end of the game, I took what I thought was the final boss. Anyways:

HP: 3000 (Head)
Foot tentacles: 500 HP
Arm tentacles: 250 HP
crown: 350 HP

Wut @ Head HP. I don't recall my damage output during this battle, it's been a very long time, but I'm confident it was under 100 without Bros items. Then take into account that the boss did do heavy damage, so you could have to waste turns healing. AND the fact that you had to take out at least the foot tentacles to reach the crown to deactivate that to actually do worthwhile damage to the Head. AND the tentacles regenerate so you might not even deactivate them before you even finish with the crown. One. Long. Battle.

Doesn't help the system runs on batteries.

Also, I don't believe I was underleveled. I have a habit of fighting anything I come across, as well as my OCD in exploring and doing most sidequests I realize, and I'm probably generally overleveled slightly.

Ridiculous boss.

I was stuck on that one for a long time.

Then I realized how to gay it to death. I took my strongest party, Isaac and his original party, gave one barrier djinn to both Garett and Isaac. HAd them alternate setting and using the barrier while the other 2 attacked. It was pretty unstoppable until the Doom Dragon drained all my Djinn, causing a very large bump in my plan, so it took me a bit to get back in step with the pattern. The dragon ended up killing my strong party off when it had only one health left with like, 4 of its wtfb0rkenattacks in a row. My second party comes out and I start to panic since I didn't want to do it all again. I just summon swarm it and it thankfully died before it could attack. :dizzy:

Was a pretty fun boss, nonetheless. XD

I know this isn't a boss fight but some of those story mode chapters (very hard mode) on F-Zero GX are some of the hardest/longest pieces of **** that I've ever had to go through in ANY video game that I've played.

Longest and most frustrating boss fight for me would have to be the Diablo clone (Uber Diablo) From Diablo 2. I was playing by myself online and i was using my blizzard sorceress and that foo just shows up out of nowhere and started chasing me. I could have taken it out with a different character but i didnt want to leave the game to switch characters because i was afraid the game might disappear.

Battle took about 2 and a half hours and MANY MANY MANY deaths... not to mention exp and gold >_>

I still can't beat it. :(
Oh yeah. That one was ridiculous. Freaking Cruel OP attack. Dullahan was 30x worse though. Don't know bout that Dullahan.

Yiazmat took me about four hours on my first go. I can beat him in a sub hour now, though.

One of the bosses on PSO took me and someone (just a randomer online) about two hours recently. That's due to us both being a low level though. Takes a minute or two on my main.

The last boss of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

That boss is so zetta long and it has like, 3 phases. It's pretty difficult, too.

Regular Sho from TWEWY was a long boss, too. You spend a lot of time eliminating Taboo noise and then you've still got to kill him, which takes some time.

It's hard for met o say, generally bosses that take me forever take that long due to my own negligence to level up properly.

If any of you have played Suikoden IV, theres the last boss thats some sort of tree that took me like an hour and a half or something.

Well...this battle can be finished in minutes with mix flower to attack every part of her, then copy flowers to dish out main damage with an ulti free badge too keep em in stock.

Ulti free badge was useless since I had 99 of each...then i tried it without items...that took an hour

Longest though was...cant remember right now

From 1st longest to 4th longest:

1st
Yiazmat in Final Fantasy XII:

50,112,254 HP
999 MP

Took me roughly 3-4 hours to defeat, extremely frustrating.

2nd
Penance in Final Fantasy X:

12,000,000 HP Body
500,000 HP Each Arm
999 MP

Took me about 1-2 hours first try. However, I then discovered Yojimbo's Zanmato OHKO'd him, so no problems after that, if I ever fight him again.

3rd
Dark Force III in Phantasy Star IV:

His HP is around 8000 (Quite a lot in that game)

He took me about 30-45 mins because I didn't know what to do. Got slightly frustrating.

4th
Kael'Thas in World of Warcraft:

Mon Dieu, my raid messed up so much on him. We wiped multiple times and then finally managed to beat him, but it was tedious.

The ****ing T-Rex in Turok: Evolution, last chapter. I was pretty terrible at video games in my early years, so this one took me dozens of days, maybe even three months before I beat him. I casually set my controller down and ran outside screaming and dived onto the trampoline. You can tell I was happy.

Looking back now, it was a very easy fight and I almost feel embarassed for losing. But hey, I was young and uncoordinated.

M&L: Partners in Time.

But recently, the last boss in Vesperia took about 45 minutes to an hour because we were horribly underleveled and were on hard mode (facing all three forms, third form taking 30 minutes). Also, my friend playing Yuri was the only one who could stop him from healing himself, besides Rita.

It's been a while since I played, but I have a few reasons as to why it took me so long.

A) I didn't have any of that stuff.
B) I did have it but I'm stingy in their use.

Something like that seems very likely. I believe I was against buying the Bros Items, something about not having BP like in Superstar Saga made me not like them.

Though I did read a guide on the boss, and I acknowledge the strategy.

I just beat KH358/2, and I gotta say, one of the Final Boss Sequences took me a very long time. Spoilers just in case people care:
Xion, when she began to heal herself. It took me a while to figure out exactly how to stop the healing, since I was playing extremely cautiously. >_>''

I was more worried that it would be a long sequence going through every world, so I was playing very cautiously to preserve all my health. I was afraid that if I died, I'd have to start over from the first part. Once I noticed how to beat it though, the rest was fairly easy. It was just an "I must be doin' it 'rong" moment.

I beat her in 5 minutes tops.

But the longest boss fight I've ever had was in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. The final nightmare took me at least a hour to two hours to finally kill.
I also lacked the lv2 Sword.

This was the longest fight due to my stupidity. But Master Belch.

I did not use the jar of fly honey. I killed the little monsters he has near him. And about ten minutes into the fight I had Ness and Jeff die. Soooo... I used Paula to pray and hopefully do something. Sadly, I brought everyone including the monsters back to life! I possibly did this about two times, and then I just tried killing him off with the HP sucker seeing as I wasted all my PP.

Also for the Giygas comment, the beginning all it takes is just to stay alive and rack up some damage, once it's out of the devil machine it's a free win. >w>

Oh yea, I forgot about him, he definetly was a hassle, your charcters literally had to have high magic defense in order to survive otherwise it seemed like a bleak battle, you couldn't even use your dragoons because he would significanly reduce their stats, that sucked.

The Time Devourer in Chrono Cross took a pretty long time. It seemed longer to me than the one in Legend of Dragoon.

The secret boss in Disgaea took forever even if you had a really beefed out Divine Majin.

Some boss fights in FF Tactics could take lots of tries if you were trying to steal everything in addition to winning (Roof of Riovanes comes to mind).

Omega Weapon in FF8 was a pretty long fight, mostly from long Limit Break animations.
