When I joined I forgot about this place for a while but I remember it being slow... and like I can't stand reading my old posts...it's just worded so horribly it makes me die a little inside...

I don't think a single SWF'er frequenter didn't like April 1st. :)

Favorite Days on SWF Thus Far;

-KOTH's exposition
-April Fools 09'
-1st SMYM MK Debate
-The entire beginning of the User Blogs, which includes Maxfire
-Release of 3rd tier list. It's too fun watching the rate the thread moves.

Things I Remember From Way Back;

-Mic_128's avatar was a Spore creature. I was intimidated.
-All Star Sig Shoppe
-Everyone had santa hats for the holiday season
-Anther's Valentine's Day Thread
-Melee vs. Brawl :(
-Cinder breaking Brawl

oh yearh?? in ma dai we had tuh' wavedash uphill, bothways to school!
I lol'd.

Back in my day, we had great minds at work constantly trying to further Jigglypuff's metagame such as Veril and Alex. Infinite offstage jumps, rest interrupts, general homosexuality, and other shenaniganz abounded! I then discovered the Ganon crowd in March, lulz ensued, and the Jigglypuff board had a bit of a hissy fit
lol Alex
.

Now the Jigglypuff board is in a glorious state of disarray, which makes my title of being the most successful Jigglypuff troll akin to winning the Special Olympics.

I was a complete and utter n00b.

Since I was so stupid, I gave off a very bad first impression to the GtaN region, which I live in.

I decided I wanted to further my knowledge before posting anymore, and I left SmashBoards and only lurked for about two months.

After that two months, the assumption of me being a complete ****** began to wear off, seeing as I wasn't so stupid anymore, and actually understood how Melee, Brawl, and the competitive scene really works.

After I attended my first Tourmament, my involvement on SmashBoards has gradually become more interesting and enjoyable, as I furthered my knowledge and understanding of myself, Smash Bros, and how to post without looking like a dork.

Things are basically the same now as they were when I joined.

I'm just not an idiot anymore, and I can **** people with Yoshi.

Even though Yoshi is pretty mediocre. :D

I basically only posted in the bowser boards for the first year I was here with NES Noob, Eggz, and Gimpy being the companions I had on the board.

Two years later, I mained fox had established myself as one of the better players in NE, Nes Noob started ****** face, y'all know Eggz and there it was.

Maybe Bowser Boards 2007 had some secret powers!

When I first came onto Smash Boards I probably gave quite a bad impression from acting like a blasted know-it-all, now I realize why I have a small amount of friends.

I would attend tournaments, yet I am in a somewhat inconvenient location.
Maybe I should start attending online ones.

There were a couple people that already angered me in my first few days here. Now I choose to ignore their petty little comments.

Otherwise I feel among a group that knows what I'm talking about, and it enlightens me.

Let's see...

  • LOTS of Brawl vs. Melee. It was really bad.
  • Me trying to act like I knew what I was talking about.
  • I remember when I first joined, I didn't think I'd ever even get 100 posts. xD
  • Not really knowing many people until about a month on SWF.
  • Seeing really early Brawl tier lists was really funny looking at it now. Snake was considered the best character for a while in the beginning. In the early Japan release, he wasn't considered that good at all.
  • I remember freaking out when I got my first infraction. @.@
  • Trying to get any colored name just to make my posts seem knowledgable, lol. >_>
  • One of the most embarrassing things looking back was me freakin' asking Azen to team with me in a doubles tourney over wifi. >_____________________<;;; I really should apologize for that.
  • Edit: I also remember freaking out over custom avatars and visitor messages, lol.

I've been here quite a while hah. I don't remember much from when I first joined, simply because I was in the texas smash scene in 2003 just not on smashboards till 04 and I can't tell the difference between the two years in my memory.

I joined around the times of 3GCI, Moast 3 etc when Ken/Isai/Crystal City dominated the scene in melee.

I wish I could go back to my first post.
It was so stupid.

I just lurked the Jigglypuff board back in '05, though I didn't join until '06.
When Brawl started rolling around, I started going outside of the Melee boards. Then everything got boring, so now I just go to several threads in several forums.

ROFL
Karina you're the best xD

Anyways.....

I discovered this site sometime in the second half of 2007. I lurked here and there, nothing much.
Then I got interested in all the brawl talk that was going on, and so I began to lurk more haha
I finally decided to Join in April 2008, but I didn't post until June lol

At that point I realized my accoiunt wasn't even working >__>
I'm dumb. So I made my second account (This one).

I honestly didn't think I'd be posting here much at all when I joined. I mostly just lurked and used the brawl friend finder thingy.

Eventually I found OTL (I was a bad lurker and only looked in certain areas of the forum, and at this point I decided to see what else was here xD). I met loads of awesome people in OTL and so I began to post a whole lot more .__.

Since I lurked for so long, I basically knew all of the rules and I knew what not to say haha
So I'm pretty sure I didn't come across as an idiot, I hope.

And uh...... yeah.

Ω Old account back in 2007, swapped to McSnapple in 2008
Ω Spent most of my time in character boards on the Melee front
Ω Used to think these people must be really smart and uber friendly (guess I was half right on the first one and failed on the 2nd ¬_¬)
Ω Spammed the Roy Boards like a good Roy Board spammer does

All I remember about when I joined is that the SSB4 thread was being spammed with arguments over Geno's inclusion in the next Smash game. I used to just stick to GBD all the time, but now I hardly go there due to the spam, which may not be a problem anymore, I've not checked in a good while.

I can't actually remember when or why I did joined...
but I began posting when Balanced Brawl Public Preview was out.
(btw, I always just ignore the Brawl vs. Melee discussion...)

So many painful memories of arguing in the tier thread...

Majority of people were under the impression that priority was an intrinsic value assigned to a character in general across their whole moveset and that it was actually possible and a legitimate argument to base a characters worth in this game by this completely arbitrarily defined number by anyone.

MU 'discussions' induced much rage and were basically a compendium of stupidity. Assumptions everywhere, from basing a characters ability on what they could do in melee (LMAO) and people writing matchups with precisely NO experience whatsoever in the actual matchup. People decide that Sirlin's rles about fighting games are somehow applicable to brawl, and that this game could be analysed on a pure on-paper basis as if it is a traditional fighting game.

Much of this could be excused when we look back on it now since we hardly knew anything and only talked about what we knew at the time, but it doesnt change the fact it was REALLY bad compared to where we are at now. Not everyone has progressed however, and many of these notions and approach to discussions still exist.

swf was ********

Oh yes, the Lucario boards. They were funny, but a phase best not revived. it was like an experience you had to have. having it multiple times doesnt make it better though :p

January 2007 was slow, it was before brawl was announced I think, so melee was in it's prime. The pokecenter was still 3rd generation and we had all the speculation of who would be in the next game topics.

Never posted outside of my regional zone until last year. Back then, Australia's little section was all I knew, and it was mostly just **** talking and setting up meets/tournaments.

I joined, then quicky left SWF for about a year when I made it to 50 posts... lol

Now I'm much more active and understand a lot more than before, when I used to think "My God, so this is where all the pros talk and discuss things...".

Were you around during the Brawl speculation era? Good times! There were so many hilariously idiotic statements, like the whole "up until now" fiasco. Oh, and the trolling! That Ridley incident was funny in a "what the hell were you all thinking" kind of way.

My favourite bit of logic: Falco in Melee is like Fox in N64. Therefore, if Falco is in Brawl he will be like Fox in Melee. However, Fox is completely broken and Sakurai would never put a character that OP in Brawl, so Falco will not be a playable character. QED.

There were a few smart people, like Wiseguy, who was wrong about everything, Zevox, who was right about everything, and Bane, who made the most amazing character model mock-ups ever.
