I kinda like mine :



It's pretty intuitive and a lot like the original just with the new editions in there.
You should replace Game&Watch with Olimar to have all of the old school characters grouped together. Then you should place Captain Falcon in Game&Watch's old spot so that he would fit in with all of the other "tall" human characters next to him. That should leave you with olimar below lucas, alone and unloved.



I don't think it can get any better than this.

Not too put a damper on your CSS aren't the seperate pokemon not tourney legal?
Also I bet the ready to fight line pops up over the bottom row of your characters XD.

Yeah, I doubt mine is Tourney Legal. I'm just making it for fun. Oh, and here's an updated one, one with "Zero Suit Samus" instead of "Zaro Suit Samus", as I hadn't noticed that before (and it is very silly). Oh, and I don't know if I like the Ditto or not for random, prolly going to take that one back out or make it smaller. :

What do you guys think of this CSS?
It looks pretty good, as long as you're ok with the none icons making a few icons unselectable. I didn't realize it just by looking at the words, but it's got very nice organization. I never thought of putting the pokemon that way, and could never figure out how to fit the mario characters into that particular 8 slots. Also, i like how the Metroid, Earthbound, and Fire Emblem series are grouped together, but going out of your way to get ness and lucas beside falcon ruins a bit of the organization. Personally, I would put wario below dk and diddy, as well as put Pikachu above PT (both to preserve series order). Putting all that together, it comes out like this:

Wow my css i used yesterday caused the whole left half of the css to be unselectable! that was simply wowwing. But we continued with it and we ended up freezing after we selected a stage.

too many codes imo, might think about doing this cosmetic changes the old way, making a whole new ISO. should contact markehmus for this.

o Wellz, i might use a new css again, not liking that the 2nd random redirects to the first. will just stick to my older CSS's for now.

I too have the 4 corners with the None spaces, and *occasionally* the bottom left 4 characters become unselectable, but only when the Wi-Fi training level or a couple of the moving stages that no one plays is picked. Also, going to Battlefield and then quitting and returning to the select screen fixes it, so while it is an annoyance, it's not a catastrophic failure...

My suggestion, instead of using a "none" space, just repeat a character. Maybe put in 4 extra Falcons, or 4 more Randoms. I'm sure it'll work that way. If you get this working, I might switch from the Brawl+ CSS to this one, maybe. It depends on which one I like more, considering that they have the same characters.

EDIT: If you replace the 4 "nones" with Alloys, I WILL use this.

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but if you go with the "blank corner" design like the last one posted, you should fill the 4 None spots with Randoms instead. That way you have easy access to one of them no matter where your cursor is, it won't glitch out, and it doesn't look as bad as repeating a character.

I never thought of organizing it by series order, now that I look back at the changes you made, everything seems to fit together seemlessly. It just feels right, no matter where you look at the grid.

Oh and the only reason why i put the emblem series before the mother one was because that's how nintendo placed it. As for the grey names in the before to last rows, those were the characters that didn't fit any series. I didn't eally think much of it and just placed them by their games' release' dates.

do you think you'd be able to post the code for your version?

i can make you css icons of alloys for it, but i never used css organizer or anything else to actually get the alloys onto the css.

Sorry to be such a noob... but I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while now, and I just can't get my head around how to do the arrangements and stuff. Also the Zaro Suit Samus thing put me off and I still can't understand the workaround... >.<

I really like MK26's arrangement here, so can anyone give me any pointers in that direction? Advice on how to use Brawlbox for the Zaro Suit Samus fix too? I can't find a sc_selcharacter_en.pac or anything anywhere.
It'd be much appreciated. ^^;

EDIT: Oh oh oh, I've found sc_selcharacter_en through Brawlbox, but now I can't find type1[70], just MiscData[70]. Is that the same thing?

EDIT2: :laugh: Oh crap I did it, that was easier than I thought it'd be.
So now how do I make the CSS layout itself? Not bothered about Alloys, I might go for that another time.

Thanks, I've gotten all the codes I need so I guess I'll try to figure out how to order them...

It's making more and more sense to me the more I read it, so I should be fine (I think)

When I launch the game via Gecko OS, I get a black screen with white text, sort've like a DOS page. Lots of error numbers and stuff.

So where did I go wrong? I am definitely using RSBE01 before anyone asks.

EDIT2: Alright, it's definitely my code that ****s it up. I just tried the code you made for Elefterios and it works fine!
I wonder what I did wrong... Dx

get rid of the none icons...itll look like that automatically, and nones screw some stuff up occasionally
after removing the nones, the byte count needs to be 29 (41 in dec) for the first section and 28 (40 in dec) in second section

a17: but did you change 'olimar' to 'prolimar'?

EDIT: i guess i got ninja'd...no problem tho, glad to help and happy you thought my layout was good enough to base yours off of...though i still prefer mine :p

This helped me realise where I went wrong and ultimately stopped the freezing. You're awesome xD

I always have these codes as a staples in my GCT so i never get those issues.

In any case, Here's a CSS i whipped up.


I bet you're thinking:
Hey A17! What is this? Some kinda Joke?! It's just the regular ol' vBrawl CSS! No Talking Animals! No Ninja! No Boobs! So much for a CSS YOU whipped up!
Yeah it looks like the ol' vBrawl CSS, no pokemons, no Sheik and no ZSS. But you wanna know why? It's because I'm finding that these characters are rarely used so i'm just going to squeeze them back to where they came from. But the real reason why I am taking back to 40 slots is because I want bigger CSS icons. Those who've seen me complain about the name "banners" on the icons, I thought about it. If the icons are bigger, it means that these nametags will look smaller in proportion to the icon size, more face, less text (mm mm good).

Now that THAT's out of the way, let's discuss its layout.

  1. First off, Random in the bottom right corner (as seen on vBrawl) is boring and trying to pick a specific CPU takes many many hours to do as it it all the way in the corner, especially if i wanted to select mario who was on the exact opposite corner! So, Random in the center column was a must.

  • I pretty much wanted to bring what was on the left side to the right side and vice versa for a new look. I'm tired of Seeing Mario on the top left corner for instance.


  • Top Row is all characters from their own game (in no particular order) with no other characters from the same series (in other words gone Solo, and have no Partner(s) in crime). An exception is Samus, as she is now gone Solo; Power Suit only ;P. 3rd parties included on the end.
  • Bottom left corner (2 x 3 icons): Pokemon Series
  • just right to that,m another 2 x 3 block: Mario Series, i personally don't believe Wario has anything to do with the Mario Bros. to me he's like a spin-off.
  • Fire Emblem. Marth > Ike, thus marth is on top. wink*
  • 2 x 2 block of Legend of Zelda characters
  • 3 x 1 line; Kirby lineup
  • 1 x 2 line; Kong Brothers.
  • 1 x 3 strip;Star Fox Lineup

Assistance! Assistance please! I've gone through at least 3 different CSS with the alloys as selectable characters. Now the CSS changes but whenever i chose the alloys all i get is captain falcon, zelda,etc.

Just a quick question: If Almas' Clone Engine works with Character Select icons or something, if you have a custom CSS like these, will the Clone Engine still work?

For some reason since I used the CSS Organizer, I can't use the codes anymore. Whenever I don't have the pac file in my menu2 folder, it just freezes at the CSS. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

what pac? sc_selcharacter? You doing a CSS where player slots are moved all over the place?
