It would be nigh impossible though considering you would have to be spot on with the overlapping parts. Also, necroposting FTW.
It might be possible, considering that the icons are all lined up evenly in the game. But the better question is, is there a bigger version of this picture so someone could actually attempt it?

Oh yeah, that's much better (viewing the full size one).

I'd like to also give this a try if you don't get around to it, assuming that I can find the time myself to work on it.

It Works!

I used an edited sc_selcharacter.pac (from BrawlMinus) to remove the names on top of the icons and the frame around them, they are slightly separated though

the actual colors are more paler and brighter than in the picture, it needs some photoshop work. Also, funfact: there's a tiny triangle missing in each icon's lower right corner

Does anyone know what the filesize limit is for sc_selcharacter.pac?
I want to make them more detailed...
also, how to remove that annoying triangle? ^^¡
EDIT: I think it's the model shape itself

Well, the original that Brawl uses is 3.79 MB.
Try to stay under that, I guess.

And FFFFF-
I love the layout I use, and you come in with your fancy shmancy CSS.

Very nice. That looks awesome. Think you can transfer it to the default (vBrawl white) CSS style when you're done? (I don't want the Brawl- one, but obviously you would still need to keep the names/frames removed like you mentioned).

HOWEVER, now that I have the codes, I have no idea what to do next. How do I use these codes to make the common5.pac and the sc_selcharacter.pac I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, really? That was my plan to try to prevent that problem from happening =( Well, I'll see if I can find some way around it. Maybe making the corners of the button transparent so they don't cover the characters? If all else fails, I have a backup plan which should work.

Edit: Yeah, I see what you mean. You can't select the "overlapping" characters.

Edit2: Here was my safe "backup plan".



I replaced a single large Random button with 5 normal sized ones. It's functionally identical to the way I intended the other one to work, it just looks a little less pretty. Selecting any of the Random buttons will put the cursor on the one in the middle.



I'm gonna play around with the giant button some more to see if I can make anything work. But if not, I'm still satisfied with the way this came out.
Can't you replace the 4 random icons around the center one to the SSB icon in these different colors Red, Green, Gold, and Blue, for it to be able to select the different colored alloys to be playable?

It's possible, yeah. Did we ever get a way to give those guys their own icons? I never liked having 2 Mario/CF/Kirby/Zelda icons on the CSS.

I'm playing Project M, and I wanted to bring back characters that they had removed, just so i can use them while playing project m. So i put in a css, and it works great on the character select screen, but it acts weird in game. On occasion itll actually load the character i picked, but most of the time it loads up mario for characters that werent in project m (like samus or squirtle etc).

Anyone know why this problem would be occurring?

Edit:

I'm thinking what i need to do is figure out how to tell the game to actually load each particular character. Its like each of those slots are loading mario.
So how do I tell each particular slot what to load? - if that makes sense

You don't. They added that to Project M on purpose because you're not supposed to use characters that aren't in the demo.

Well yeah, but I mean it must be possible to undo that with some other coding.
I was thinking there are to options that make sense:

1) Are there any codes where you can make the game replace what character is loaded in a match when a particular icon in the character select screen is chosen?
- For example, can i insert a code where whenever i choose ganondorf in the character select screen, i can make the game load mario, or lucario, or whoever i decide in the actual match?
Orrr, do you know of another way to do this (not requiring codes)?

2) Are there any actual character codes out there that the project M team could have deleted from the .gct files? For example if they deleted samus' coding, are there codes i can re-add that would make the characters work again?

I'm not sure if that would work, but its worth a try! I just don't know where to find these codes.

So im not sure if all this stuff is related, but it seems to always be together when i find it so I put it all together..

Now the main thing im trying to figure out is how to you use the CSS values near the bottom - Ive bolded and underlined the section im talking about.

What are those values for? What do they do? And how do you use them?

So i was trying to make the v7 tier list as my css, without using zss and a separate zelda sheik icon. My question is, how do i have the zelda/sheik in the same icon like it is on vanilla brawl

Best character select screen I've seen in my life.

Hopefully it will be done someday without glitches :-)

Also heard it will be riivolution exclusive.

Whaaaaaat? That looks absolutely unreal. And I don't mean fake (because there's artifacts on there that show it's definitely in-game), but just crazy.

Just use Button Activator codes. Then when you select Bowser, Wario, and (Alloy bases) respectively, you will get their alternations/transformations upon pressing the specified button.
