The icons aren't done by me, but everything else (that is censored) is. The grey character icons are for personal reference so I know (and everybody else would know) which characters have all of their textures replaced.

Disregard the "NEW!"

All oddity aside, that's a very interesting design. It's giving me ideas about how it could be adapted into a 41 slot CSS. It would have the Random button in the middle to be more neutral (as much as I personally love Mr. G&W, a lot of people probably want a CSS that's less... biased).

All oddity aside, that's a very interesting design. It's giving me ideas about how it could be adapted into a 41 slot CSS. It would have the Random button in the middle to be more neutral (as much as I personally love Mr. G&W, a lot of people probably want a CSS that's less... biased).
I thought the same exact thing, and I agree with you wholeheartedly, but dammit I love it when people come in, play Brawl, and see G&W front and center. Their reactions are priceless and it lightens up the mood for some good Brawls. I only do it for the lighthearted fun of it all.

That, and I don't intend on sharing things that I didn't make on my own, so if it's only gonna be on my Wii/hard drive, why not make it the way I like it? :bee:

Fun fact: I actually used a higher res image for G&W.

Exactly what I was thinking before I reopened this thread. Big random icon in the middle, high res picture of something cool. Find whatever graphic that contains that annoying grey bar and call it a day.

Also, the pic just above this post is one of the kinds of random pics I had in mind.

Either I was out of the loop for too long during that time period(my internet was down back then), or PW didn't tell us that he made a 2.0 version of his CSS organizer in march of last year.

I wanted to keep the theme of the Random button in the middle, but I realized that Wister_Mame_and_Gatch's CSS segregated the casts into 2 halves and I didn't like that. Mainly I was looking for layouts that haven't been done before. The Random button will be slightly behind the other icons, so in theory you will only be able to click it by putting the cursor on the + shaped area. I'll need to test this.

Next time I have some free time to work, I'll actually try this in my game and see how it comes out. But I don't know when that will be.

I absolutely love how that is set up. I thought about putting random in the middle like that, but I never thought to overlay characters. That's the whole reason why I segregated characters, because I didn't think of that.

Edit: If I have free time in the morning, I will copy your mockup to see if overlaying characters will work.

Jeez, if only I thought that out before throwing everybody into photoshop and working their characters into where they are now. That would've changed a lot of things.

Edit 2: Then again, I don't use SD cards so having extra character slots wouldn't work (for some reason, I tried so many ways but it never worked). But the design idea still stands!

I haven't been able to change the CSS layout properly in Brawl-. It always freezes on the SSS. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Nice layout idea, I had a similar plan before. Unfortunately though, whenever you hover over or select the random button it will overlap the four characters on top of it. As far as I could tell, changing the Z-axis didn't have any effect on stopping it either.

Oh, really? That was my plan to try to prevent that problem from happening =( Well, I'll see if I can find some way around it. Maybe making the corners of the button transparent so they don't cover the characters? If all else fails, I have a backup plan which should work.

Edit: Yeah, I see what you mean. You can't select the "overlapping" characters.

Edit2: Here was my safe "backup plan".



I replaced a single large Random button with 5 normal sized ones. It's functionally identical to the way I intended the other one to work, it just looks a little less pretty. Selecting any of the Random buttons will put the cursor on the one in the middle.



I'm gonna play around with the giant button some more to see if I can make anything work. But if not, I'm still satisfied with the way this came out.

Sorry for bringing this old thread to the top, but I couldn't find a similar active thread and the search function didn't bring up anything.

I can assure that this is not unnecessarily bumping it. I just wanted to share my CSS.

Here's a picture of my css:

That's right, multiple references to Smash Bros., especially Brawl.

The first column has the four characters featured in the SSB opening videos.
The second column has their sidekicks/supporting characters, you know what I mean. As for Jigglypuff, Jigglypuff was the other pokemon character in SSB.
The third column has the villains.
The fourth column is a reference to Brawl event match 27, only it's Giga Bowser instead of Bowser.
The fifth column... well, basically, this is the cute and cuddly column. :bee:

As for the sixth and seventh columns, it should be obvious regarding Ike and Falco.

Pairing Falcon with Samus is a reference to Melee event match 17. Of course, there's Game and Watch... he doesn't really fit in. But it's the best place to put him since the seventh column characters are Melee veterans! Ike is grouped with DK and Diddy Kong as a reference to Brawl Event 9. As for Ivysaur, he shares some similar A moves with Falco and Capt. Falcon.

Finally, the eight column. Snake is similar to Falcon and Samus. Pit is similar to Marth and Ike. Sonic is similar to Fox and Falco.

Also, here's my concept (I didn't bother modifying the coding so I just used an image editor and the css background) of what the default css would look like if the above css was used:

But really though, the 31 characters were selected simply because they're my preferred characters.

Is it possible to make a css with alloys? Like add an icon
Like the brawl logo and have all four alloys in ONE icon

I already read this... and tried it out. It worked, but not in the order I expected it to be. How can I change the order? For example, I want Sheik to be right next to Zelda, and I want Zero Suit Samus to be right next to Samus. And I also want the Independent Pokemon to be below my roster. How can I change that order? If I just type in...

I would have Sheik, ZSS, and all of the 3 pokemon on the bottom of my roster... is that correct or it changes by itself...? I don't understand.

You're supposed to put the character IDs in the order that you want them. Because you put Sheik, ZSS, and the individual Pokemon at the end of the code, they're at the bottom of the roster.

So do I have to start from 00, 01, 02, (Mario, Luigi, Peach), etc... and end at my pokemons if I want them below my roster? Now I get it. Also, last question. How do you list them? From left to right, (Mario, DK, Link, )or top to bottom? (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, DK, Diddy Kong,)?

PS: Do I have to include "Custom Random"? And what IS it anyway?

You would list them left to right. Custom random changed what characters are chosen from the random icon.

For one thing, do not use 28 (None). It tends to screw up the game somehow.

Just use 00 instead. You won't end up with Marios at the end if you did it right.

OH MY GOD, thank you!!!! It worked!!! But with only one problem...... I have 4 marios at the end... BUT, all of the other characters are in order! I just have to find a way out to delete the 4 marios... if you can help me with this, my Custom CSS will be complete!!! :) :) :)

I already have the Sel_character.pac,Just need the CSS code for the characters be in that exact order with random in the middle.
