Yeah, Occult is a special kind of skill scroll. You get a bunch of different skill scrolls throughout the game, and teaching them to people will give them that skill as long as they have enough skill capacity (you can check which skills a unit has and how much capacity they have by checking the detailed information for that unit and scrolling over to the page that displays the information about their skills). Most of them give the skill the scroll is named after, like Vantage or Adept, but Occult gives a special "mastery skill" that's specific to each class. They only work on promoted units though. For example, it gave Ike Aether (which is the best mastery skill in the game, as you might've guessed), but given to a Sage, it would give them Flare. This ability halves an enemy's Resistance when activated (this is honestly one of the worst mastery skills in the game). The effects might not be obvious, since most mastery skills only activate a certain % of the time. Protip: the higher the unit's Skill stat is, the more likely they are to activate their Mastery Skill.Kind of a silly story. I'm playing Fire Emblem (the one with Ike in it) and so early on in the game, I got this item called Occult and I had no idea what it did. I tried using it on Ike and it didn't work. Since the item is called Occult, I gave it to this mage who looks like he dabbles in occult stuff and that didn't work either so I forgot about it entirely. Fast forward a ton and I decided to see if Occult did anything, and it actually gave Ike a move called Aether (his Up+B) and it's broken!
Yeah![]()
It basically takes two of the best mastery skills and combines them into one. It actually has two hits, one which heals Ike for the amount of damage he gives, and a second which halves the enemy's Defense. So he does more than twice as much damage as he normally does, AND heals himself in the process. And once he gets to a high enough level, this will activate roughly 25% of the time.how is it borken?
Why do you know so much about these games?I know too much about these games, so if you have any questions, just ask. =]
No problem, crazy guy~Thanks for that Jake
Call me crazy but I just registered for a part-time course at Douglas :x
I was pretty salty at that. Also, if you ever wondered why Aether healed in any of the hacks, now you know.blah blah blah aether i'm a yoshi main
i wish it healed in brawl
Because I play them. Why do you know so much about these games?
/badquestion
The Black Knight battle is the stupidest thing. Even with a maxed out Ike, you depend entirely on luck to be able to win. It took me 4 tries during my Ike solo a few days ago simply because Ike wasn't activating Aether. >.>Eugh... it took three tries but I finally beat the Black Knight! >_>
I didn't realize that removing skills from people actually made you permanently lose the skill... Physic is also the best thing ever and it's actually not difficult to obtain![]()
Yeah... Ike was doing like 9 damage per turn and the Black Knight would heal 6. He kept activating his special ability while Ike decided to screw me over time and time again. Thankfully I maxed out Mist (I love the Valkyrie class) which really helped. The Black Knight battle is the stupidest thing. Even with a maxed out Ike, you depend entirely on luck to be able to win. Radiant Dawn is a great game BTW, and I'd highly recommend playing it at some point, especially if you enjoyed Path of Radiance. If you remove skills in Radiant Dawn, you get the scrolls back to give to other units too. =P

Haha I accidentally got into the series during my vacation. I got my 3DS before the price drop so I got a ton of free games, and one of them was Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. It was really fun but me being me (and also a beginner), I felt the need to restart any level if any character died in a battle which only increased the amount of time I spent playing and the game grew on meUgh... you guys are making me want to play Fire Emblem >_> (never played it before).
We're not sure yetThere is probably a post that has the answer to this in the depths of this thread, but when is the next monthly?
