But Roost is illegal with poison heal, isn't it??? :(

If it weren't then obviously that would be great, but I think going sub/taunt/protect/earthquake would do it more good

Does anyone have any defensive counters in mind against Breloom and Roobushin?

Preferably for a sand stall team.
I tried Zapdos but he just doesn't seem to get enough def for the job. Thats just my take on it. And he gets spored by breloom.

Help pl0x

I just run taunt/EQ/toxic/aerial ace on my poison heal gliscor, AA really helps against stuff like breloom and roopushin (helps with the dory on the team).
I mentioned it only a few posts ago.

The only thing that can probably take both on would be Weezing, which only really gets hit by Stone Edge by either, and can burn Roob with WoW (assuming no guts...) and blast both away with Flamethrowers and such. He's still going to get mauled by Guts Roop and Spored by Breloom though. And is also... Weezing... seriously.

Edit:
Or, you know, get Ninja'd with something better.

Anything without Insomnia / Vital Spirit gets Spore'd by Breloom lol.

Skarmory is one that takes neutral Mach Punch and resisted Bullet Seed. Obviously Brave Bird threatens a KO but you have to be careful when Roosting as to not get smacked by a supereffective Mach Punch.

Tery can you read that again and sorta think about what you just said.

I mean seriously.

Not everything gets spored by the new breloom.
Before they would only send him in against something to spore.
NOW he only spores things he can't deal with using Mach Punch and Bullet seed.
Which is where i find my dilemma. The things that i have that could NORMALLY wall him out get spore'd and its just a big mind game trying to get him to spore the right things.

Im probably just going to make an RMT.

I will alter my team to try out gliscor again. And tbh i wish weezing got a cool new ability. If weezing got poison heal...i'd definitely use him.

My team has a problem with Roobu and Breloom. The beat my defensive core and can handle all my defensive threats. Since this is a stall team i dont necessarily have anything that is faster and can OHKO them. And OHKO'ing Roobu is a little hard.

Definitely going to make an RMT. I've been workin on this team for the last couple of weeks.

And thank you Hobobloke, Terywj, and Ultimario for mentioning Gliscor, a failed attempt at suggesting Skarmory, and reviving my want to use Weezing on a team, respectfully.

Honestly I don't see a reason to NOT Spore Turn 1.

Removes all need for prediction from the game. Exactly what you'd want.

Also, Weezing CAN'T be poisoned, so good that he didn't get poison heal lol

Bah. He should be an exception :D>

He should get SOMETHING that heals himself...like...Suck Up Dust And Gain Heath Ability.

I would love gamefreak forever if they did that and made Gyarados Water/Dragon...but thas just me.

And yeah i guess there isn't a reason not to spore. Unless you were saving it for something else.

a ghost pokemon works very well for both of them, LO gengar has the power to 2HKO both (assuming max life) and if you have rocks and spikes out, he can finish both off at 75%

tech breloom is easier to deal with than bulk up roobushin but poison heal breloom is annoying, it's mostly cause you can't status them to defeat them, it only makes their job easier (or in breloom's case, you can't status him anyways)

Payback.

Bye bye Gengar.

What kind of Zapdos set were you running? Although he's pretty much ridiculously stupid this Gen, Rotom-S might be something worth considering if only for the sake of a RestTalk set. Actually, RestTalk Zapdos w/ Pressure could be interesting too, although I'd imagine it's mostly sub optimal to any other Zapdos set. It would definitely fill your niche though.

Except Roop Paybacks you for the OHKO and Breloom Spores you and Stone Edges for the OHKO. If it doesn't have Stone edge, it can still probably 2HKO will Seed Bomb/Bullet Seed.

Dorry->Specs Shandy.

They're stuck being forced to mach punch and you can eliminate them quickly and easily.

I have problems with Breloom too. In gen IV I would just switch in Honch and watch him fail but now he's totally unpredictable. The amount of Mach Punches and Bullets Seeds my Krow has been hit by on the switch in is unbelievable.

I never liked Honch to fight my Brelooms. I'd always let something take the spore and switch in a bulky Rotom.

BUT FREAKIN GAMEFREAK SCREWED ROTOM OVER.

I really hate that they did that. For breloom. I switch in something like Skarmory, so he spores it. Then I switch in Zapdos or Gliscor to Aerial Ace.

NOW, I make sure i switch in Gliscor early in the match to activate Gliscor's Toxic Orb and switch him in when he tries to spore Skarmory. Therefore I get a free switch in and hit him with STAB 4x Effective Perfect Accuracy 60 Base power move.

I tried a Stall team...and it got to the point where my only counter was breloom and i got pretty high on the ladder. Then Brelooms...they were everywhere! I couldnt stop them and they overran my team.

Oh and then you run into things like Latios and other Ubers that haven't been banned yet.

Whos to say Latios will still be Uber this gen?

I've used one/fought them, and while Latios is amazing, he's not absolutely ridiculous like the likes of Deo-A, Darkrai, Shaymin, etc.

Latias barely even got banned in Gen IV, and with the huge-*** power creep, whos to say Latios won't make it down a tier?

for breloom, having something to take spore then putting out a ghost really makes the job easier

I saw this used once by some guy on YouTube, is it better than that one Probopass?
It's much, MUCH less reliable, and requires a buttload more team support (SS, TSpikes, Rapid Spin AND Wish Passer) to use effectively. It also loses to Ghost types.

It's effective, just Probopass is MUCH MORE effective.

To really run with Probo you need Toxic Spikes and Hail. Your Probo also needs Magic Coat and Protect, plus EQ for Ditto bait (though Ditto can't do anything anyway, it never fails to bring a laugh).

Steel types can't be killed by Probo in a sandstorm.

Edit: To clarify, Probo can kill entire teams that don't run a way to stop him. It relies on Toxic Spikes support and residual damage from weather though.

Hail kills Steels, meaning the only things that can stop Probo are Magic Guard and a select few like Froslass.

Steel types don't take residual damage from Sandstorm. Neither do rock or ground. Ice types are the only ones immune to hail, which generally makes hail better for this strategy.

You also have a pretty good chance of dying if you use hail as compared to SS

I also came by a guy using the Aron strat. I lol'd and noted its beastly red eyes in shiny form. Then he OHKO'd my Hippowdon with Endeavor and i got all sad.
