I've been playing some P:M, it's rather fun ! I'll stick to brawl though obviously. I tried a bunch of characters, including Ike, but I think I'll just play Marth and Link in P:M. Marth's fsmash is so fun =D

You're not supposed to attack with your momentum going towards MK. You'll get hit. Don't throw out hit-boxes that will hit MK unless you know for a fact that you won't hit his shield. He'll grab you, nair you, or use any other attack, and you'll get hit.

Welp, the player cap filled up for both tourneys before I could sign up, so no brawl for me lol. Was told when I first tried to sign up that I could be an alt for no-shows then they say they have a bracket of alts already made when I show up @.@ Feeling especially salty right now.

I played Mario party 4 at my game club on campus. I won all the bonus stars soo it wasn't even close. Lol it was still fun.

Went to the Dominican Republic for Spring Break, was at a resort for a week. Was great, since I never go anywhere usually. Food, drinks, and a lot of other events were all inclusive for $60 a day in an awesome hotel room. Very nice pool, beach, gym, and all kinds of food.

Back from my latest tournament. I underacheived despite having one particularly good set vs. One of our top seeds (diddy), where I wom 2-1.

Anyone who caught the stream anytime after I got knocked out of losers probably heard of my woes for the tournament. But basically:
I got 2nd seed in a pool of 7
Won 1st round vs. An MK 2-0
Lost 2nd round vs. Wario/Diddy. I beat the wario and then lost the next 2 games vs. diddy
Lost Losers 2nd round to Sheik/Toon link. Once again, Beat Sheik and then lost the next 2 games vs. Toon link, last game was a timeout where I was winning untill 0.5 seconds before the end.

I was mad

Hey guys, quick question:

My roommate mains Marth, and he's the person I play the most. He's not quite as good as I am, but he's the best person I regularly play. I'm trying to go to a tournament(s) soon to fix that problem and network with some Brawl players in the area.

Anyway, I seem to be able to pretty consistently hit him with Eruption him out of Marth's upB recovery while standing on the edge of the stage. I know that Eruption has low hitboxes, but I feel like Marth's upB should be able to sweetspot the ledge pretty easily (and my roommate does sweetspot more often than not when I don't use Eruption). Am I just punishing his missed sweetspots or can Eruption really trump Marth's upB (even if Marth would sweetspot)? I'd imagine that even if it can, it's a really low percentage thing and I'm just catching him because I'm so used to his timing/tendencies. Any input is appreciated

Erm, You mean you're standing right by the ledge (onstage) doing aether? If so, I can't say any of us have tested that. it seems like it should be almost impossible but if someone wants to check that, it would be great.

That said, against a normal guy it's not going to be too helpful, because if you miss they can do anything to you :L

Oh ok, I can see what you're talking about. I was like, "no way aether can do anything like that".

Eruption does have a way to hit marth out of UpB, but from my experience, marth only has to recover strictly vertically to avoid getting hit. Plus, he can change his timing in so many ways with sideB, double-jump sideB... It's just not worth it if the marth has his double-jump. You'll end up missing most of the time.
And if he does not have his double-jump, chances are there are much better things to do than use Eruption, like taking the edge or using Dair.

Marth has a 1 frame vulnerablity even when sweetspoting

Its always a hard read though.. I noticed that if you can absorb the hit when he sweetspots, he won't be invincible when you hit him with eruption..

Practically speaking, if you have room to eruption.. You probably could have just ledge hogged him...

Well, Pretty much what these guys said. You're better off grabbing the ledge do edgeguard him. but if you feel like being flashy, then go for it

Good stuff vs Cong, just watched it. You played great game 3, really solid (not only because of the smashes haha). You stopped getting caught in his rolls and applied good pressure.
