DDD. He's just an all around good character with strengths similar to and different from MK's, and he can tank in teams.

MK really doesn't need one at all. But if you really want one Use DDD like someone else said.

this isnt one of those questions where there is a definitive answer. you're best bet is trying out several alts and reading up on matches. Find out which matchups you struggle with personally, and then actively seek to improve them, either with MK or with another character.

My secondaries to MK are Fox, Kirby, Sheik and Marth. I have speed issues.

But see what feels right for you. That's the only way that you can really determine a secondary character.

Best bet is to play find out best counters for every char and play them all. That way you always have the best matchup.
Or you could just play MK. You can focus all your attention on him, and get good quickly without having to worry about matchups.

Yea get a kirby texture for MK then you should be fine

but if your serious about a secondary i find lucario, luigi, toon link and kirby are good back ups depends if you prefer a character whos strong in the air or on the ground

How come whenever I create a thread that's obvious trolling it gets locked but this guy can create a thread that's obvious trolling and get away with it?

Lol, this thread was clear bait for the response you all thought of when you saw the title. I'm going to be an elitist and judge from his join date and post count that this wasn't trolling however.

The best secondary's would be Falco, DDD, Kirby, maybe Diddy, I use MK, Falco and Diddy.

Everyone has their own personal good and bad matchups. If you struggle with any of them you may want to consider picking up a character that beats them. imo, MK's hardest matchups are Snake and IC's. If you struggle with snake, you may want to pick up DDD. If you struggle with IC's, you may want to pick up snake (though basically the only really good IC's are in the midwest, so you may never play against one). hell, if you struggle in the MK ditto, you may want to consider picking up IC's.

I dont think IC's are a bad machup, actually i think were one of IC's worst. But you are saying individual matchups, and they vary by person. i personally have a tiny bit of trouble with ZSS, so i like to use other characters against her.

MK vs IC is a really close matchup, but the only really good IC player out there is Lain. Omniswell is pretty good and based off tourney results, I'm guessing Meep is pretty good too... Not to be a ****, but everyone else kinda sucks. Like everyone. Like seriously everyone else really sucks as IC's. If they camp the MK back it makes it really hard to get inside and hit him.

I would have to go with R.O.B. a long ranged guy he is equal to meta from what i've seen over here. His forward smash is realy effective against meta as long as he aims it right. His laser is super effective against him too. R.O.B. is a long ranged guy as for meta is a short ranged guy the two seem to duke it out most of the time LULZ.

But again thats only from what i've seen

EDIT: oh yeah for a camping meta shoot the disc at him at the right distance.

What about ambrose. From the vids I saw in the tourny vids section of the boards, he has a sick IC. His desynching skills are awesome :)
About a secondary its already been said but Ill say it again; You dont really need a secondary. Its just a matter of preference. One individual might hate the Ditto but another has problems with Diddy. I guess just find who your having trouble against and then if you really want to have a second, then choose a character that gives you the advantage against those characters.

Ambrose is a cool guy so I don't me to be a ****, but from what I've seen of him in vids and in person, I don't think his IC's are as good as the other three players I mentioned. Knowing how to desynch like crazy and cg perfect does not make you great at IC's. There's a **** ton more to them than that.

Yeah I know theres more to the ICs thant that ie. the mindgames that go into getting the grab. I didnt mean it like desynching is all that makes him good. I just like how much control he has over both ICs when desynched. But its true, I dont think hes as good as say Lain or Omni when you compare the vids. I just like his playstyle and hes definitely an above average IC.

Yeah, he's definitely above average.

When I play against Lain or Omni, they rarely land grabs, but the fact that if I get grabbed, I die, makes me have to play in a way that I'm a little bit more open to other attacks. So eventually, after a long *** time, I'll get enough damage on me to die... this matchup is basically a campfest on both sides and every hit matters.

You can have CP characters against whichever ones you have trouble with, or play a secondary character that's good in low ceilings, I guess.

Not trying to cause an argument, but Ambrose has beaten Lain before. Of course, that doesn't mean everything when trying to scale their skill levels, I just think Ambrose is closer in skill to Lain than you guys are letting on.

As for secondaries, you can look at it with as many calculations as you want, but the best way to find a secondary is to just try characters and see which one you like. Metaknights probably receive this luxury the most, since they don't have to worry too much about counterpicks. Personally, I secondary ROB in singles and DDD in doubles when I want to switch up strategies and start tanking.
