Also how does one Shield Platform Drop effectively? I've been having trouble with it. It would be really nice to be able to Plat OoS Dair when some one is below me like say Snake.
Wow...that'd be ****. So how -DO- you platform drop from shield?

BTW Fox's grab reaches slightly longer in front of him than his usmash. Just in case you were wondering.

You have to tilt the controlstick down just a little bit, but enough to drop down... it's pretty difficult, because if you tilt it down too much you spotdodge and if you're not tilting down enough you just tilt your shield down...

I have a random question. Has there ever been any cases of anyone trying to dispute Fox repeatedly using Reflector so he can stay in the air? Or anyone going out of their way to do so? I'm just curious as to if anyone has tried to call "stalling" on it. Just a random question that popped in my head lol.

How to SHTL: You have to press it really fast.

Shine Stalling: I haven't heard of any cases of that happening. It'd be easily identifiable as stalling if it happened. The only time Fox can stall safely is with help(barely living an attack, far off the stage and high in the air, or using wind on PS2.

If he tries it by himself it's not the best thing to do. Using rising fair to go above the stage, 1 rising fair is low enough to hit, 2 loses your second jump. Going below the stage isn't good either because Fox'll get gimp'd.

question how do you do that short hop triple laser thing that TKD does?
There are many ways to SHTL, but U have to find the most comfortable for yourself. I myself use two different ways. Number 1. Have L set to jump and use regular B as special (speed is necessary for all SHTL configurations btw) and my second is have X set to jump and Y set to special (one of the more common configurations). You can also try Y being set to jump and use regular B as special. Hope this helps.

I personally have not gotten any consequences from a TO for doing so, but have gotten grief from other players.

What are all of Fox's ledge options?
Stand: I use this after a edgehog, when the opponent has survived and is close to the ledge, to be in a position to punish. Never after 100% though.
Roll:
Jump:
Attack:
Drop:
-Ledge Drop Jump Fair/Nair/Uair
-Ledge Drop Shine Direction change Jump Bair
-Ledge Drop Jump Illusion
-Ledge Drop Jump Air-dodge
-Ledge Drop Jump Wall Jump Ledge Grab(Final Destination)

When you say "Never after 100%" do you mean we have 100% or they do?
I'm familiar with all of these options and I try to mix them up as I play, but is there anything else? I was shamefully gimped on PS1 by a DDD who had me on the ledge and just held the A button over my head. I couldn't seem to do anything to get up, even after trying every ledge drop option.

At >100% the animations for ledge options changes and they get a lot longer. Kind of off tangent...watch part of this video
-At 2;13 I punish the landing lag by ledge drop jump onto the stage into Dsmash(not enough time for anything else)
-At 2:23 I use the ledge get up(see how slow it is?) and punish with Upsmash(the way he recovered I had enough time for upsmash)
Kind of how you should punish special landing lag.

Back to your original question, jumping from the ledge goes through the hitbox of the regular A combo. Attack worked too. Roll gets behind him but that's not really a position I'd want to be in. Ledge drops didn't really work out to well.

-__- Is there a video for SHDL and is there a faster way to pivot single laser without having to jump? I like running away, pivoting>laser, then SHDL until they approach but there's so much lag on the pivot.

Hm, maybe I should've clarified.

I need an instructional video on SHDL? >_> Perferably one that shows the timing of the inputs alongside the actual technique. I know how to do it, but I can't get the timing down consistently.

That I don't know where to find, sorry.

The best way to learn how to SHDL is to go in the game and practice it. For reference though, you start press B twice at the top of the jump.

Well the B-reversedLazer is part of what I wanted ;D

And I guess knowing when to tap B will help.

Thanks <3

Hi, I'm a link main. I just wanted to know if fox's Dair can be SDIed above 120% and avoid the follow ups. I know that it makes you trip sometimes at high percent but I always had the suspicion that you could SDI it to the side and shield it. I think it only makes you trip if you are directly under him. I am not sure so could someone verify.

Actually I think Breversal SHDL (I mean a good SHDL with the last laser being silent) is much more difficult than a breversal SHTL. Reason for this is, that you hold in one direction -> jump and still hold in one direction until you are at your highest jump high -> then let go of the direction you want to reverse -> press B and reverse -> wait a little time and press B again.

SHTL is run in one direction, immeadiately jump and Press B- > reverse -> do the other two.
The momentum is much easier and much better reversed/transformed in the other direction, imo.

The fact that I can barely do it... :/
practice, it´s not that hard.

edit: Question: Can we punish Falco´s Jab every time?
If he hits us with jab: can we interrupt him betwenn his first and second jab or jab cancel? with nair? our jab? grab? shine?

If he hits our shield: can we interrupt him betwenn his first and second jab or jab cancel? nair OOS? shieldgrab? maybe usmash after the 2nd jab?

Anyone who knows this for sure???

Hey I've got a problem that has to do with my momentum cancelling and I'm just wondering if this happens to other Foxes out there. Sometimes, although rarely, immediatley after I use Uair to momentum cancel (I am also fast falling) I try to put in a Boost Jump Rising Fair, but the problem is that there is no jump and I only do the Fair, which leads to a stock loss that could have been avoided. I don't know if that happens to any of you but I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong if anyone knows how to prevent this. Yes I could simply stop using that technique but I find it very helpful to sometimes get back to the stage as quickly as possible.

if you have tap jump on you might be accadentily jump>up-airing and loosing your jump from that.
otherwise you just used it before you were hit.

Hey, im trying to figure out the counterpick for all characters so im going to all the Q&A threads of all the characters and posting this. I would like for you to give me your characters worst MU and worst stage so it saves me a lot of time researching it myself and testing stuff.

I would really appreciate it if you all helped me out.

Hope to get some answers pretty soon.

You can't really hard counter pick yourself(only without lasers and a better back flip). Though if you're wondering, Fox's main counter pick is Pokemon Stadium 2.

The main battlefield is pretty neutral, no doubt about that. It's the transformations that are devastating. Ground stage has that wall anyone can be wall shined against for massive damage, Air stage helps so much with Fox's aerial game(also messes up Falco's laser tactics). Lightnings treadmills can have some awesome stuff done on with cancelling smashes off the main platform into more aerials. Ice is just a pivot grabbers delight, and the platforms are perfect for flip kicking!

Where you should CP Fox is to Frigate Orphan though. It helps Falco a lot more than Fox. I've got a Falco main I play against and he always wins here, it's stupid!

For those who use L-Jump to SHTL, do you also use L-Jump for SHDL and SHSL as well? Is it more comfortable to simply use L-Jump for everything or still use Y/X for things like Short Hop Aerials? I get that it's a comfort thing but I want to know how other Foxes with similar controller mapping play.

I use R to jump but for that's for JC Up-smash, Full jump lasers, and Shine Dash.
For SH(2/1)L I go Y to B with my thumb and SH3L with my thumb and left pointer.
Y is my preference for Short hops as it's carry over from melee.

If he hits us with jab: can we interrupt him between his first and second jab or jab cancel? with nair? our jab? grab? shine?

I've never been able to punish Falco's Jabs. Shielding gets you grabbed usually. I'll try to mess around next time and maybe get back to that.

Isn't it inconvenient to have to switch back to holding the controller normally after SHTL's though? Someone could approach quickly and you would have to react pretty quickly, but I guess it can work if you switch when the opponent is still at distance.
