It is finally here. The finale. One thing is for certain and that is a new World Champion will be crowned for the first time in their history.
Holland has been to the last dance twice before but fell at the last hurdle. Spain has never been a World Cup finalist despite 17 prior attempts.
David Villa, Fernando Torres, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, there is no shortage of talent on show, and hopefully the talent will put on a show.
Full-time Synopsis: It is never easy to accept defeat under these type of circumstances. Holland really have no one to blame but themselves. The manner in which they approached the game was in very bad taste.
They had their chances and Robben will feel he should have won the Cup in 90 minutes for Spain. The game in general was terrible to say the least. The game had no spark and with the exception of a few spurts of excitement the World Cup final was a dreadful testament to football.
122: The game is over and Spain are World Champions for the first time ever.
Torres seemed to pull his hamstring chasing a ball and had to be carried off, which is bad for Liverpool.
116: Spain are the World Champions! Iniesta just got the games first and it has surely sealed the win for Spain.
Holland are furious about the goal standing as they were sure Iniesta was offside.
Mathijsen and Iniesta both got yellow cards after the goal.
113: Robben who has already been booked kicked the ball away after Webb blew the whistle and he really should have seen red.
Webb showed some compassion for the Dutch there.
110: Holland will most likely just sit back and hope for penalties.
108: And there it is! A red card for Heitinga. Iniesta turned the Dutch defender and he had no option but to pull him back and get his second yellow card.
105: Holland start the second-half of extra-time.
Spain Sub: Torres comes on to replace Villa. That is a strange move considering the likelihood of penalties.
Extra-time First-half Synopsis: The game has remained the same. The tackles have not been as dirty, but their has still been persistent fouling and constant effort to break up play.
Spain are commanding the game and really look the only likely goalscorers. Holland have looked very limp in attack.
Spain had one or two chances in extra-time which they reallly should have done better with.
105: Holland Sub: Braafheid replaces Van Bronckhorst.
The half has ended.
102: The crowd cheer to the sight of Robben being nutmegged.
101: Navas received a pass from Villa. He ran at the Dutch defense and took the shot on himself. It was deflected wide, but Navas and the stadium thought that the net had rippled from a goal.
99: Iniesta was through on goal and again failed to either shoot or pass and failed to do anything with the possession.
Holland Sub: Van Der Vaart comes on in place of De Jong.
95: Fabregas was one-on-one against the Dutch keeper, and Stekelenburg made a great save. If Fabregas looked up he would have seen a wide open Villa, with a wide open goal.
92: Spain had a decent chance of a penalty turned down, as Xavi had his foot clipped inside the Dutch box.
90: Spain get extra-time off and going.
After 90mins Synopsis: The game has been somewhat exciting at points but overall the game has been quite poor. It is a terrible testament to world football. Bad tackles and petty fouls has been the tale of this game, and this game has set a record for 9 yellow cards, which has showed the game for its poor quality.
93: The whistle has blown and the game is going into extra-time.
91: The game has really died off and both teams look very tired and very uninterested.
88: Both teams look happy to see this game go to extra-time.
86: Spain Sub: Alonso makes way for Fabregas.
82: Robben broke away again and he was pulled back and really should have been giving a free-kick and Puyol should have seen red.
Robben was booked for complaining about the matter.
80: Great work from Alsono set Iniesta free in the Dutch box and he really should have done better. He got caught in two minds and Sneijder cleared the danger.
78: Holland have failed to done anything in the Spanish half since Robben missed his great chance. Spain are really forcing the issue in terms of attacking.
76: Xavi and Villa worked very well together, stringing a number of passes together and Villa had his shot just blocked.
From the corner, Ramos should have buried it. Unmarked on the edge of the 6 yard box and ballooned his header over.
74: Torres must surely be introduced very soon for Spain.
69: What a block! Navas crossed the ball into Villa's path. He seemed destined to score but the foot of a Dutch defender lying on the ground took the ball over the bar.
Holland Sub: Elia comes on for Kuyt. Elia will bring a lot of pace to the Dutch and he will test Ramos. The question is will Holland's defense lapse on the right with Kuyt going off.
67: The only real chance to speak of so far was Robben's one-on-one opportunity. Both teams are flying into tackles in the middle of the park and their work rate is sublime.
However it does not make for attractive football, sadly.
66: Capdevila brought down Van Persie as his broke away with a little clip of the heels.
Capdevila has his name taken.
62: What a save!!!!! He has just saved the World Cup for his team.
Robben was through one-on-one and Casillas got down well, spread himself and clipped Robben's shot around the post with his foot.
Robben really should have done better.
60: The game is just not being allowed to have any flow as the game keeps stopping.
Spain Sub: Navas replaces Pedro. Pedro has done very little in the game, but not for the lack of trying it must be said.
57: Sneijder went down after a tackle, and ironically enough Sergio tried to convince the referee that he dove.
Well of all players he should know about diving.
54: Not far off! Xavi tried to put a free-kick high in the left-hand corner of the Dutch net, but it just went wide.
Heitinga just another Dutch name in the book.
53: Van Bronckhorst has picked up a yellow, and that is six yellow cards already in the game.
51: Robben cut inside and took a strike, but it was all very similar to his strike in the first-half and Casillas had it covered.
50: The game has started quite similar to the first-half.
47: What a miss! Capdevila swung his foot at the ball 5 yards from goal and could not connect. A terrible miss from the left-back.
45: Spain get the second-half going, and with any luck this game gets better.
First-half Synopsis: The World Cup Final has not lived up to the expectations whatsoever. Both teams have only had one decent chance on goal. The game has been riddled with fouls and stoppages.
The game as a whole has been poor, and a red card is more likely than an opening goal. Both teams have picked up cards, but Holland's style of play could come back to haunt them if De Jong or Van Bommel make another silly challenge.
The second-half can only get better.
46: Holland's first real chance came from Robben. A poorly cleared ball came out to Robben on the edge of the box. He took a touch to get the ball out from his feet then wrapped his foot around it. Casillas got down well to tip the shot around the post.
43: This game badly needs a goal! Or even just a hand-full of chances to bring a spark to the game.
40: The game has been very stop-start due to the number of fouls. FIFA will not be happy with the manner in which this game has played out thus far.
36: What a fluff, Twice!!! A Dutch corner was knocked backward towards Van Bommel who scuffed his shot on goal.
His miss-hit ran into the path of Heitinga who was unmarked inside the Spanish area, but he fluffed his attempted shot and missed the ball completely.
The first-half was summed up in that one calamity.
33: A great sign of sportsmanship was shown by Holland. Heitinga kicked the ball back to the Spanish keeper, who misread the flight and was forced to tip the ball wide of the goal.
Holland were awarded the corner and Van Persie decided to knock the ball back to Spain from the corner.
Very nice to see.
32: Both teams are working very hard. Puyol just got pounded by his own keeper.
27: De Jong has just entered the book on a yellow, but it really could have been a straight red. His foot went into the chest of Alonso.
There has been more bookings than shots at this stage in the game.
25: The game has not be able to gather any rhythm as the game is being constantly stopped with fouls.
21: Van Bommel is the third man in the book, and if things continue in this manner Howard Webb will be forced to send a player off.
Ramos quickly gets his named taken also.
20: Holland are becoming more settled in the game and they are holding possession well.
17: Sneijder ripped in a free-kick at goal and Casillas done very well to get behind the shot and gather it cleanly.
16: Van Persie has been quickly joined in the book by Carlos Puyol.
14: The first yellow card goes to Van Persie, and there will certainly be more of them flashing around tonight.
13: Spain are definitely looking the more comfortable on the ball, and the more likely to score. Holland are yet to really have a decent attack.
10: What play! Ramos danced past Kuyt inside the Dutch box and thundered a hard, low shot across the box. The danger was cleared but Holland were opened very easily.
07: That could have been bad!!! Sergio blindly helped the ball into the middle of the field, not knowing that he was laying Dirk Kuyt up for a shot on goal.
Terrible, sloppy play from the midfielder.
04: What a save!!! Stekelenburg got down very well to deny Spain what would have been s sure goal.
Xavi sent in a brilliant free-kick, and Ramos was inches away, great keeping.
03: The game has started with a nice tempo. Spain are upbeat and passing well, as Holland are pressing Spain high, and trying to get physical with the Spanish.
00: Two news records have been set before the first kick of the 2010 final. Spain are the first team to field seven players from one team in the starting 11 - seven Barcelona players - and Holland are the first team ever to line up using the numbers one to 11 with their starting 11.
