Bowser must start his turn with Princess Peach at Bowser's Castle. He can do this by play Kidnap a total of 3 times.
Ganondorf must play Ganon. However, playing this card requires 30 Power.
Ridley must have all of his cards in the Discard Pile.
Giovanni must start his turn with a Captured Pokemon in each location. He can do this by playing a Pokeball in a Pokemon's Location.
King K. Rool must increase Blast-O-Matic's Strength to 15.
Zero must start his turn with a Dark Matter in each location.
DJ Octavio must have 10 Power. However, DJ Octavio can't gain power naturally and can only gain power when he ends his turn with The Great Zapfish activated.
Hades must start his turn with all Soul Tokens in the Underworld and Paluenta defeated. Soul Tokens can be gained by defeating Heroes. However, Paluenta can prevent Soul Tokens from entering the Underworld.
I will post their individual decks and locations when I finish them in the Represent (Insert Series Here) thread.
Finally, a concept I've been kicking around for weeks but have only just gotten around to properly conceptualising - Shin Megami Tensei Cross, a crossover fighting game featuring characters from across SMT and its spinoffs. Admittedly, this one's not as wacky as some of my others, but I think it has potential.
The game would ostensibly be a three-button fighter (Light, Medium, Heavy) with a fourth button for demon-related actions, referred to as the Demon Button. The specifics of the Demon Button depend on your character's Archetype, which are as follows;
Summoner- By far the most common Archetype. When inputting the Demon Button, you'll summon your selected demon, which will perform an attack indicated by whatever input you perform before summoning it. However, after using a demon, you'll need to wait for a cooldown to pass until you can use them again - which will differ based on the demon's strength, and what attack you made them perform, and what you do while waiting for the cooldown to pass. The specifics of this differ in some cases, but this framework's the baseline.
Magnetite - A sub-class of Summoner that possesses a Magnetite bar. In order to summon a demon, you'll need a certain amount of Magnetite to form it - which builds up over time, increasingly as you approach or attack an opponent. This only applies to The Hero and Serph.
Demonica - A sub-class of Summoner exclusive to Jiminez. When used, your demon of choice will always be visible, following you around in the background. Holding off on using your demon allows your Demonica to analyse it, bringing up its Analysis Level from Lv. 1 to Lv. 3 - at each level, it gains passive buffs, though these don't apply to the character, only the demon. They last for not just a round, but a full game.
Antikythera - A sub-class of Summoner exclusive to Ringo. As well as being able to summon a demon through typical means, it also changes some of her special moves to reflect her selected demon's Elemental Affinity, while also giving her an Elemental Affinity to match.
Kuda - A sub-class of Summoner exclusive to Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV. Instead of building up a meter, you have a set number of capsules on your HUD, which deplete as you summon your selected demon. The number of capsules you have to start with depends on your demon's power, though they refill after each round.
Dynamo - A sub-class of Summoner exclusive to Kazuya. You have a constantly depleting battery meter on your HUD, and if you summon a demon, it uses even more power. When fully depleted, Kazuya can recharge by holding the Demon Button to crank his COMP's dynamo. To offset this weakness, Kazuya's COMP's in-built Harmonizer allows his demons to deal increased damage if Kazuya doesn't take damage for a period of time, though this Harmonizer is reset once Kazuya runs out of battery. Additionally, similar to a Persona User, Kazuya's normal moves predominantly use his demon - though he's still classified as a Summoner.
Persona User - A less common, but still prominent, Archetype. Instead of being able to select a demon, you are automatically assigned your character's Persona. Then, when inputting the Demon Button, you summon your demon as a Persona, which remains on the screen and can attack in your stead - changing your moveset drastically. However, either you or it taking too much damage results in a Persona Break, rendering it unusable for a short time afterward.
Wild Card - A sub-class of Persona User, which effectively combines it and Summoner. Unlike Persona User, Wild Card allows you to select any demon you like, which will then become your Persona. Otherwise, it functions the same. Both Persona Users in this game (Aigis and Joker) are Wild Cards, so this distinction doesn't matter too much in the base game.
Atma-Branded - A unique Archetype to Serph. Instead of being able to select a demon, you are automatically assigned your character's Atma Avatar. Then, when in battle, input the Demon Button to transform into them, acting as a sort of install stance change. When in Avatar Form, you gain an Elemental Affinity, which allows you to resist certain attack elements but also makes you weaker to others - as well as a slightly changed moveset. However, if you don't land an attack on an opponent for more than 5 seconds in Avatar Form, you become Hungry, and can't activate it for a short time.
Demon - A more "general" archetype that encompasses characters that don't fit into the traditional system by virtue of in some way being a demon themselves. Inputting the Demon Button will have effects that heavily depend on the character you're playing as. However, a Demon will always have an Elemental Affinity active. In the base game, this only applies to Nemissa.
Additional Archetypes could be added as needed.
While the base roster for this game's not huge, at only 14 characters, it's bolstered by the Demon system I mentioned in Mechanics. What this means is that there's basically two rosters in this game - the Demon roster, and the Character roster! With that in mind, let's start with the latter.
Sho (Affinity Demon: Cerberus) - The protagonist of SMTI, and someone I felt would make a lot of sense as a starter. He'd be more sword-focused than his fellow Magnitite-class Summoner Aleph, making good use of Sword Fusion mechanics in his moveset as well as the infamous Nerve Bullets.
Aleph (Affinity Demon: Amaterasu) - The second Magnitite-class Summoner, and this one's based more around his use of firearms while having his sword back him up for some attacks. Not as much to note on him, though.
Demi-Fiend (Affinity Demon: Pixie) - A much more melee-focused character who'd be a rushdown/rekka, though his finishers would generally feature powerful attacks that'd blow him backward after use. His more offensive playstyle is balanced a little by Pixie, who provides basic buffs and debuffs.
Jiminez (Affinity Demon: Bugaboo) - The sole Demonica-class Summoner of the game, selected over Strange Journey's protagonist mostly because of his closer relationship with Bugaboo, plus his more interesting personality. He'd heavily rely on military equipment for his attacks.
Flynn (Affinity Demon: Masakado) - Another character without too many notes, aside from that he'd probably be the most focused on swordplay in the game. Additionally, his use of the Gauntlet COMP would allow him a unique property where he can summon his demons during some attacks.
Nanashi (Affinity Demon: Dagda) - A much spunkier and slightly more active character than many, who'd implement a lot of personally skilled elements in a fast-paced moveset not dissimilar to Demi-Fiend's. Also, unlike Flynn, Nanashi would have an interpretation of Smirk, allowing him to buff his attack power after landing successive attacks on opponents.
Nahobino (Affinity Demon: Aitvaras) - Unlike a lot of the other protagonist characters, Nahobino's attacks (aside from his sword moves) would mostly be magical in nature, covering a wide variety of elements similar to Demi-Fiend's. Unlike Demi-Fiend, Nahobino's a little more of a jack-of-all-trades, being pretty functional in a lot of circumstances, but often not excelling in any specific one.
Nemissa (No Affinity Demon) - Nemissa's the sole Demon rep of the base game, with her Demon Button allowing her to switch between one of three Moods - Upbeat, Calm, or Sexy. Depending what Mood she's in, she'll have a different Elemental Affinity and different attacks that reflect it - Fire for Upbeat, Ice for Calm, and Electricity for Sexy.
Ringo (Affinity Demon: Chironnupu) - Ringo's moveset would generally rely on her use of the Antikythera COMP, which would transform regularly between a sword and a gun, allowing her to string together melee and long-range strikes as needed. Additionally, her being of the Antikythera sub-class allows her to imbue her attacks with elemental properties as well as cast spells related to her currently-selected demon, making her essentially a jack-of-all-trades with a slightly unorthodox feel.
Raidou Kuzunoha the XIVth (Affinity Demon: Mokoi) - Raidou's moveset would be a little more tempered than some, allowing him to hang back and wait for the perfect opportunity to strike with his blade. He's also unique in that his pistol attacks are aimed at unusual angles, unlike Sho, Aleph and Jiminez's more rigid ones, often upward or downward to force movements from opponents.
Kazuya (Affinity Demon: Black Frost) - Kazuya's moveset is a little odd for a Summoner due to his unique COMP-related mechanics, which generally reward him for holding off on unleashing particularly powerful attacks until he's got a decent rhythm going with his opponent. However, unlike other Summoners, his moveset's more comparable to that of the Persona Users due to his use of his demon in a lot of his normals (offsetting his lack of combat experience, unlike a lot of other protagonists.)
Aigis (Affinity Demon: Palladion / Orpheus) - Aigis's moveset would effectively make her a fast-paced artillery cannon, though it's designed with modularity in mind, as she's the only character with two Affinity Demons. Palladion would better-suit her ability to zone from a distance with powerful long-range attacks, whereas Orpheus would provide her with various buffs to allow her to strike enemies close. Additionally, she has access to an Orgia Mode install that buffs her damage output and defence for a short time, before requiring a cooldown where she can't summon a Persona.
Joker (Affinity Demon: Arsene) - Another fast-paced, but much more evasive, character - using Arsene's Curse skills to apply pressure from a distance before closing in and getting some rapid strikes with his knife. He'd play into his Phantom Thief nature a lot in this one, perhaps using skills like grappling hooks and the like on top of his pistol and knife to really differentiate him from the pack.
Serph (Affinity Demon: Varuna) - A character very much of two extremes, given Serph's base form is generally a glass cannon even with his Berzerk specials, though his Avatar Form is much stronger and heavier, despite being a little slower to offset this. His Elemental Affinity as Varuna is Ice, making him weak to fire.
The list of demons included in the game's base roster is as follows (italics indicate Affinity Demons);
Cerberus (Cerberus's apparance is by default based on his modern SMT look, but when used alongside Sho or Aleph, it takes on a blue tinge - based on Pascal, Sho's dog that was transmuted into Cerberus in SMT1.)
Amaterasu
Pixie
Bugaboo (When used by Jiminez, it's possible for him and Bugaboo to fuse together for their super moves. If not, Jiminez gets a slightly different array of super moves that aren't as outright powerful, but have slightly more range.)
Masakado
Dagda
Aitvaras
Chironnpuru
Mokoi
Black Frost
Palladion
Orpheus (Orpheus features a couple of alternate designs unique to it. If used by Joker, it'll be able to appear as Orpheus Picaro, and you can also select whether to use the male or female look for it for other characters. By default, it's the former, reflecting how it appears when used by Minato and Aigis.)
Arsene
Varuna (Despite Varuna being Serph's Affinity Demon, it can also be used as a demon by other characters, just with the caveat that its unique effects for Serph don't apply otherwise.)
Jack Frost (Jack Frost's appearance can also change based on who's equipped him, reflecting special variants of him that have existed. These include Classic for Sho and Aleph, Demonhee-ho for Jiminez, Ai-Ho for Ringo, Raiho for Raidou Kuzunoha the XIVth, Lemon Frost for Kazuya, and Frost Ace for Joker, as well as Snowboard Kids and Devil Buster Buster. These are just cosmetic changes, though, and don't change Jack Frost's moveset.)
Pyro Jack
Mothman
Decarabia
Cu Chulainn
Arahabaki
Alice
It's worth noting that this game's roster, being heavy on protagonists, would be bolstered by more side characters as DLC, as well as more unexpected candidates here and there. For instance, picks like El from Last Bible, Akira from SMT if... or even Nakajima from the original Megami Tensei books could be fun, as well as more obvious side characters from already-represented games, like Gale from DDS, Yu or Chie from Persona, Chiaki, Walter or even the Chaos Hero from mainline, and so forth. That's not even mentioning the obvious candidate of Dante as a Demon-type character who could switch his weapon loadout on the fly, or some boss candidates like Stephen.
Additionally, other demons being added over time makes sense, as there's a lot of iconic candidates not included here. Each character would get their own Affinity Demon obviously (so for instance, Yu would get Izanagi), but it'd also be neat to add some demons not affinitied with any particular character, like Metatron, Beelzebub, Matador, Zeus, Ippon-Datara, Shiki-Ouji, King Frost, and so forth. (Note on this - I considered Mara for the main roster given his long-lasting popularity, but for what I think can be presumed to be obvious reasons, I didn't think I'd be allowed to actually place an image of him in the roster. Plus, he'd probably sell a lot of DLC.)
Also, similar to Persona 4 Arena, a lot of characters would represent other characters through costume palettes. There's a few obvious ones, like Daleth for Aleph, Akechi for Joker, and the SMTIV black Demonica for Jiminez, but then you could also go for some weirder ones if you liked.
What if Smash started today?
Bare-minimum starter roster for a GAAS game a la MVS that would be fleshed out over time, so no character whatsoever except Mario and Link is truly mandatory. Use your imagination to imagine how it expands!
Mario
Peach
Mewtwo
Sylveon
Isabelle
Link
Marina
Meta Knight
Duck Hunt
Marth
An FE character vs. DK was an extremely close call, DK ultimately lost out due to technically being a 3rd Mario rep. Meta Knight was chosen over Kirby as I felt with him the roster would have too heavy a cute lean. (even though in any other context MK would be a very quick cut for me) Marina was chosen over an idol duo for the same reason as MK over Kirby as well as diversity (player Inkling was never in consideration)

If no one but Mario and Link are mandatory, I think I can make something of this:
Mario
Link
Ridley
King Dedede
Greavard
Waluigi
Spring Man
Takamaru
Muddy Mole
Sonic
Pac-Man
Phoenix Wright
Some explanations are in order:
Ridley and King Dedede are getting in over the heroes because Samus and Kirby are being saved for the first round of DLC.
I paired Waluigi and Greavard together AND put the dog over Luigi's rival because I wholeheartedly support the "Greavard = Muttley" meme.
Between that, the existence of Polterpup, and how you'd only fool yourself if you think Pokemon won't be in this game's launch, you can make your own conclusion.
Spring Man, Takamaru, and Muddy Mole round out the first-party roster to represent the Switch generation and Nintendo's legacy. Muddy Mole is a personal choice.
I added Sonic, Pac-Man, and Phoenix as non-Nintendo characters to tell people that Sega, Bandai-Namco, and Capcom characters are on the table. Something that is proven true when Mega Man is added in the first DLC cycle alongside Samus and Kirby.
However, if NO ONE was off limits, I'd absolutely add a cartoon character to the roster. But I wanted to be realistic to some degree.
I respect the oddness, though I doubt a Smash today would be as...odd with the picks. Maybe one or two, though.
My take, I suppose...
1. Mario
2. Donkey Kong [too iconic of a name, I mean, they did bother including him in the Mario movie, even]
3. Link
4. Pokémon Trainer [what Pokémon could vary. One of them could even be Pikachu if you want]
5. Samus Aran [if only because of having recent and in development games]
6. Kirby
7. Alear [current and also draws on various forms of FE's history]
8. Isabelle [seems to be the mascot of Animal Crossing in the modern day]
9. Callie & Marie [duo version of a Splatoon character, Pearl & Marina might be alt costumes somehow]
10. Min-Min [or whoever you think, ARMS as a recent fighting game somehow still happening before this would probably make it likely, even if it wasn't a top seller IIRC]
11. Duck Hunt [Nintendo's identity is still heavily tied to its retro stuff, and I figured this'd be a pick for that they'd do now]
12. Little Mac [Another "fighter" of Nintendo, I basically cemented this selection by seeing what recurred in the Switch Online games offerings that wasn't already on or third party]
No series repeats here unless you count DK, also. I imagine that live service stuff would add characters over time.
Super Smash Bros. All-Stars
This would be a collection of Smash Bros. games for the 25th anniversary of Smash Bros.
64
Melee
Brawl
for Wii U
While none of the new games would have any new fighters added, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U would receive the content from the 3DS version; all the exclusive stages, trophies and Smash Run.
The Serious Cow is a red cow resembling the Laughing Cow with a stern, stoic expression. The Serious Cow was designed as a response to The Laughing Cow, positioning the brand as a "cheese found in serious homes" - Laughing Cow manufacturers Bel Group responded by releasing an advert proudly...
i always forget that the michelin man was originally called "bibendum" because the name always reminds me of this half-recalled memory of "bibendum" being this horrific eldritch monstrosity or something
that aside, interesting calls from mythology, sun wukong & a tengu are pretty interesting candidates - and i think fantomah's a very inspired pick too tbh. also original flavour superman is a really cool pick like fazdude mentioned
No sure if anyone remembers the Pokémon platform fighter ideas I shared a while back but I made a few changes and upped the number to 64, here’s what I settled on (yes Plusle and Minun are a duo character)
Posted a thread on this too if anyone wants to see the movesets I came up with for these guys
So a while back I focused on a concept for a purely Pokémon focused platform fighter and I intend to share what I came up with here. Currently the roster sits at 64 fighters (of course this wouldn’t be base, many would be added over time). Despite my pretty large roster size, I tried my hardest...
I personally would have added a little more characters from mythology but its still an interesting roster! Shoutout to the poker dog I wouldn’t have thought to add a character from paintings
Renfield is also an interesting character, most people would probably go with Van Hellsing but I don’t know if the iconic parts of him would actually be in public domain. It’s not technically from Dracula but I would go with Carmilla personally.

I feel like paintings would be a great source for stages, come to think of it. Nighthawks springs to mind as a fun candidate, even if it's only PD over in the States.
this is a little late, but here are my attempts at a non-Nintendo platform fighter video game crossover and a 12 (technically 13) character roster if SSB debuted today with a unique twist.
12 (13 character roster if SSB started today)
Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong
Link, Samus, Byleth, Kirby
Tom Nook, Aegis, Inkling, R.O.B.
The lack of Pokemon is weird, but I’m unsure if the Pokemon Company would initially want to work on a Nintendo crossover had SSB started today.
Fire Emblem is weird as Melee did help introduce it internationally, but I think Advance Wars would be enough to justify it’s western releases, so I kept a Fire Emblem character, using the protagonist of the most popular game.
Tom Nook just seems funny and to make things unconventional.
I think the Aegis gimmick is cool.
R.O.B. is really just a tribute to Mario Kart DS.
It's 2012. Nintendo this preparing to release the Wii U to the world and they decide they need a hot ticket game for launch, something that'll get everyone talking. They take inspiration from Sony's iconic SuperSmashStation series of platform fighters and elect to make their own.
However, they make a few errors in the planning phase.
First, they put a first time studio in charge of development, one that's not too confident in negotiating characters and such from Nintendo and other studios, making them easy to walk all over. Game companies get first and final say for how their IP is represented, leading to unique decisions...
Secondly, Corporate is viewing this less as a celebration of Nintendo history and more as a showcase of what franchises you can play on Nintendo systems at the time of release. If a franchise hasn't had an entry in the last 3 years, it'll be a stretch for roster inclusion. On the bright side, games coming up in the next year or so also have an influence on the roster.
Thirdly, no pokemon. The Pokémon Company isn't very confident in this project and doesn't want their beloved characters to be punched and slashed by plumbers and links. Maybe this would've been different if things have started years ago... but there's no precedent in this timeline.
So let's finally get into the main event! The Roster!
1. Mario - Here we go! The least surprising inclusion. His moveset takes mainly from Galaxy, NSMB, and 3DL.
2. Donkey Kong - Another good inclusion, he's in the middle of a revival in 2012, what with Returns and its 3DS port, not to mention Tropical Freeze coming to the console in a few years.
3. Wario - Squeezed in thanks to Game & Wario's upcoming release. Not much else to say.
4. Link, Hero of the Skies - Another obvious choice, Link here is based on his Skyward Sword portrayal.
5. Link, Hero of Time - Heheh... so when the devs were conceptualizing Link, they couldn't decide between repping SS or repping OOT3D. So they asked the zelda devs, and they said "both". And here we are, remarkably? Very different movesets.
6. Samus - Squeezed in thanks to Other M being recent enough.
7. Olimar - Remarkably made it in thanks to Pikmin 3 coming soon, picked over Alph because I don't think the characters were finalized in 2012.
8. Kirby - He's always got something going on, he's in.
9. Tom Nook - New Leaf came out this year and Animal Crossing is pretty popular. Tom Nook was chosen as the devs just didn't consider a Villager and Isabelle's popularity wouldn't be known during dev time.
10. Karate Joe - Remarkably the early 2010s was a pretty good period for Rhythm Heaven, Karate Joe is in over others because he's recurring and relatively simpler to make.
11. Shulk - Xenoblade Chronicles was a biggish deal and recent enough for inclusion. He's in.
12. Little Mac - This is as close to a Retro Pick the devs could get, thanks to Punch-Out Wii existing. It was a hassle to negotiate, 2009 is a bit too old for corporate's liking.
13. Pushmo - Ahh yes, Pushmo. Here to rep the eshop. He'll end up being a recurring force in this era, so he's in.
14. Wii Fit Trainer - Wii Fit was a big seller for the Wii and plans to continue on the U. She's in.
15. Wonder-Red - An early bird appearance from a game Nintendo is putting faith in. I'm considering this first party as I do believe Nintendo owned the rights in this era.
16. Mii - Self explanatory.
17. Pac-Man - our first third party and an iconic character with plenty of ties to nintendo! Controversially he'll use the Ghostly Adventures design Namco was pushing, and it'll dictate much of his voice and moveset.
18. Ezio - An... odd choice. While no doubt an iconic character, he's one you wouldn't really associate with nintendo. Ubisoft insisted him over Rayman, despite a potential tie-in with Legends.
19. Maxwell - Hailing from Scribblenauts in a clear move to advertise the upcoming Scribblenauts Unlimited. He's a fun character, but fans would likely often accuse him of stealing a slot from a more popular third party.
20. Sonic - The only third-party with no real controversy behind him. He makes sense and there were no compromises made with his design.
DLC:
Dlc would release throughout 2013.
21. Chrom - The First DLC Character, repping the big hit that was Awakening. A fire emblem rep was kept out of the base game because it's always been a Japan only series.
22. Fox - Snuck into DLC thanks to the 64 remake on 3ds and vague plans for a wii u Star Fox starting up.
23. Luigi - Here to celebrate the year of luigi!
24. Bayonetta - the last third party, added because of the upcoming Bayonetta 2.
And there we have it! If you couldn't tell, this is basically "what if Nintendo made PSASBR" with all the same limitations it had. I love PSASBR so this was all in good fun and I mean no ill with any of this. Pokémon was left out partially to reflect the absence of Crash and Spyro.
Uhh, let me know what you think! Is there anything you think is neat? Anything you'd do differently?
I might do rival match ups and a few extra things at a later time.

Can't believe there's no Devil's Third rep. Absolutely unspeakable. Okay, jokes aside, this is a fascinatingly fun and unique concept with a lot of really cool ideas behind it. Looks like a lot of chaos fun!

The semi-sequel to my last post; Smash Ultimate, but everyone has a cross-series echo! Will limit myself to just companies who participated in Ultimate's development, and those with preexisting Echoes will be a part of the list. Only went up to Melee for now.
Mario: Jumpman (technically cross-series )
Donkey Kong: Winston (Overwatch; same normals with an entirely different set of specials)
First, let's go over the errors. So far, I don't see as much of an issue here as I would for Sony's overconfidence. After all, Nintendo has a vast back catalog of gaming characters to chose from, to say nothing of third-party characters. And since Pokemon does so well as a series by 2012, I don't think they need the exposure through this game.
Second, the first ten fighters. Starting with the obvious, but I think having two Links in this game makes a lot more sense than having two Cole McGraths in our universe's title. Moving our way downward, it's astonishing how close Wario, Samus, and Olimar were to getting scrapped. On the opposite level, I'm glad that we get Tom Nook and Karate Joe in this game, but I have a sinking feeling the latter won't be in the sequel.
Third off the bat, the next six fighters, and our last set of Nintendo characters. Shulk, Little Mac, Pushmo, Wii Fit Trainer, Wonder-Red, and the Miis. Quite frankly, any sequel to this game would only keep Shulk and the Miis, given the restrictions set by corporate Nintendo.
Fourth, we have the guest characters. I actually don't have a problem with these four. Pac-Man, Ezio, Maxwell, and Sonic is a good foursome. However, using Ghostly Adventures as a basis for Pac would be hard to sell, and Maxwell in this game would mean Warner Bros. has a credit in this title. Ezio and Sonic are fine as is.
Next, we come to DLC. Chrom, Fox, Luigi, and Bayonetta. No way around it, this is the best they could have come up with at the time. I would certainly purchase Luigi and Fox, but that's my preference.
Overall, this is a more palatable roster than what PSAS had by a longshot. Please find a way to continue this.
If I had to think about fighter from franchise having an echo unrelated to the franchise then definitely there is a lot
=boss Galaga or space invaders
=Pete (harvest moon)
=Panda (just dance)
=black mage
=baby bros.
=Chomper (plans vs zombies)
=smiley (minesweeper)
=black shadow
=Alucard
=Crono or warrior of light
=gardevoir
=ufo-co (space invaders extreme 2)
= urban champion or
= starman (pro wrestling nes) or king (tekken)
=king hippo or kraid
=smithy (SMRPG)
=booster (SMRPG)
= sepia Belmont (Bombergirl)
= monster hunter
= rika (time gal)
=andy or Sami (advance wars)
= princess tomato
= zavok
= Ken Mishima (ehrgeiz)
= Alex Kidd or
=
=Giegue (mother)
=Blaziken

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked this, it was certainly a fun challenge. Honestly it was pretty surprising finding out what characters I could and couldn't use. I'll definitely try to do a post full of bonus material but I'm not sure if I can do anything beyond that.
A sequel is definitely appealing, but there's no PSASBR 2 for me to base it on. I don't know which lessons they'd learn and which they'd ignore, plus if I assume they learn all the right lessons it'd just be another "What if smash started today" roster.
Though If there's a way I can make the process fun, I'll definitely conceptualize a sequel.
Smash sequel where the roster has absolutely no returning characters, it's all newcomers, but you still have to make a satisfying roster that fulfills all the niches Ultimate did.
I take the challenge, Baysha
. Variants of cut characters are allowed, but must be variants that would be impossible to share a moveset, not just ones that could be clones. Since 3Ps don't have as connected a fandom as the 1Ps, I tried to not cut any 3P series outright, and put in an adequete replacement for any cut (I forgot Bayonetta, but funnily enough Dante, who I added by coincidence just on virtue of being a fan demand pick, fills this niche) though some 1P series are gone. Did put in some characters I usually would be opposed to for the "fills all the niches" element. Also tried to appeal to the demographics that weren't pleased with SSBU veterans-included as a bonus (shooty Western gun guys! Yay!)
Alright, I think it's time to cover Nintendo All-Stars Battle Royale's rivals now.
1. Mario/Sonic - Obvious Rivalry.
2. Donkey Kong/Olimar - Vaguely nature aligned characters, Olimar would throw his pikmin at DK in a misunderstanding.
3. Wario/Wii Fit Trainer - lazy slob vs fitness.
4. Link, Hero of the Skies/Shulk - Wii Swordfighters.
5. Link, Hero of Time/Ezio - Guy from medieval style world vs time traveller of sorts.
6. Samus/Kirby - Space Travellers.
7. Tom Nook/Maxwell - I dunno, vaguely feels right.
8. Karate Joe/Little Mac - Fighter vs Fighter.
9. Pushmo/Mii - Uhh... modern characters?
10. Wonder-Red/Pac-Man - New vs Old.
The dlcs are sold in pairs, so Chrom/Fox and Luigi/Bayonetta are the matchups for them.
It's not perfect, so I'm willing to hear any better ideas.
Mario & Sonic: Kingdom Rush
A 2D crossover platformer. The Mario cast takes on Mario-styled levels in Sonic's world, while Sonic characters go through Sonic Advance-styled levels in Mario's world. Sometimes, level tropes/items from one world will show up in the other, letting Mario use stuff like Fire Shields while Sonic runs into Warp Pipes.
Each side gets five characters at launch, for a total of ten (about the same as Mario Wonder); Sonic characters use their modern appearances. Characters were chosen based on how well they match up with another character from the other 'verse rather than popularity/tradition.
Mario & Sonic - Duh.
Luigi & Tails - The timid sidekicks who eventually learned how to stand on their own.
Peach & Amy - The love interests of their protagonists.
Wario & Knuckles - Treasure hunting rivals to their protagonists.
Daisy & Blaze - Headstrong princesses from a locale that differs from their series' usual setting.
As for some potential DLC additions...
Donkey Kong & Shadow: Former antagonists turned (mostly) to the side of good. Kind of a stretch, but you'd probably have to get Shadow in somehow.
Rosalina/Luma & Cream/Cheese: Both would use their respective companions.
Bowser Jr. & Metal Sonic: Second-in-command to their antagonists, and in some way copy their protagonists (with Shadow Mario in Junior's case).
I'd imagine their reasons for fighting for good have to do with abandonment issues as their dads team up (with Junior wanting to prove himself to Bowser and Metal just wanting to spite Eggman) or something goofy like that.
Now for the stages; Went for a balance in variety across both universes, with each world/zone having three stages and a boss level. The final world/zone would be five levels; Two Mario levels, two Sonic levels, and a final boss which has two phases for each style of gameplay.
FAR from a perfect list, mind you, but whittling down Sonic's most iconic zones while not directly ripping off Generations/Mania is a tall order.
Mario Stages ("Worlds", played by Sonic characters)
Nintendo Heroes Unite is a 3D Crossover Platformer game, the Game is Nicktoons Unite but have better gimmicks of characters and levels in Skylanders-styled,the playable characters have two different modes of play (the Swap mode and the Unite mode)
The Swap mode is a mode where the player can just one character but it can choose a different character
And the Unite mode is similar to Nicktoons Unite,4-in-1 gimmick
The characters are 4 in a team, and they have archetypes
Mario (Super Mario Bros.)-All Rounder let's start with the Nintendo's Mascot and the obvious one,Mario can use the hammer from Mario & Luigi, shoot fireballs from Fire Flower, use the feather from Super Mario World and other different Power-Ups from his games
Link (The Legend of Zelda)-Bait & Punish other one who is the obvious one,Link can use the Master Sword and shield and,and he can uses the bombs, boomerang, bow and arrows and other items from Zelda games, and for design...i choose OOT Link
Kirby (...)-Copycat the next one for this team is the great puffball God killer,Kirby is more different,he can inhales and copy the attacks, but he can't remove the attacks, the copy abilities are not too much and not too less copy abilities,Kirby have fire, sword, spark, beam and other copy abilities
Samus Aran (Metroid)-Zoner alright,we added the boys in this team, and it can't miss a female member for this team,Samus is the shooter for the gameplay, and she have the Morph Ball, she can shoot missles and bombs and other attacks
Well, that is the team,but...i feel that is missing more characters, and i resolve to add 2 DLC teams, and they also can swaped on the playable team
Team B
Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong Country)-Semi-Grappler Mario's former enemy (even that i bevieve that Arcade DK is Cranky Kong) is added and being a spin-off rep,Donkey Kong can punches and grab the enemies
Greninja (Pokémon)-Rushdown what?,are you thought that could be Pikachu?,well, Pikachu could be so difficult of making attacks and he's so small,i also can choose Lucario or Charizard or any other pokémon, but Greninja is a excelent choice,Greninja can have water-type attacks but the moves are similar to Pokémon animes
Villager (Animal Crossing)-Trapper for me is a obvious choice and it can't forget an Animal Crossing rep,Villager could be Smash Bros-esque,he can shoot with slingshot, attacks with a shovel or an axe and other things, and the Villager who is choose is a male villager
Inkling (Splatoon)-Mix-Up another obvious choice,Inkling can shoot with the Splattershot and Inkling can uses the Splat Roller, the Splat Charger,Splat Dualies and other Splatoon weapons, and the Inkling is a orange Inkling girl
Team C
Pit (Kid Icarus)-Bait & Punish alright, let's choose a "Retro" pick, Pit can attacks using the Palutena's bow and the other itens from Kid Icarus Uprising
Lucina (Fire Emblem)-Rushdown what are you thought for a Fire Emblem rep?, Marth?, Ike?, Corrin?,no,i choosed Lucina, she can use the sword, but she can also uses spear, bow and other weapons
Olimar (Pikmin)-Trapper other one who i can't forget,a Pikmin Rep,Olimar can have the same gimmick of Pikmin games,he can command the pikmins of each color,he have less pikmins and the pikmins can't die
Captain Falcon (F-Zero)-Rushdown and the last one is The Forgotten One,Captain Falcon is also Smash Bros-esque,he have Raptor Boost,he can uses the gun and he have Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick
Now it's time for the levels, the levels have puzzle sessions and secrets who are Skylanders-like,and the levels are from each Nintendo franchise
Mushroom Kingdom
Hyrule
Dream Land
Zebes
DK Island
Galar
Smashville
Inkopolis
Skyworld
Archanea
Forest of Hope
Onett
Corneria
Weyard
The Multi-Dimensional Subspace (Original Level and it's not related into Smash)
Just letting you guys know that I'll be replacing DJ Octavio with Edelgard from Fire Emblem Three Houses. Mainly replacing him due to an idea I have for Mr. Grizz in a later expansion pack.
Screw it, here's a PBS Kids platform fighter roster if it had been made in late 1999, same size as the original Smash 64:
Starting 8:
1. Arthur
2. Big Bird
3. King Friday
4. Miss Frizzle
5. Barney
6. Wishbone
7. Zoboomafoo
8. Cassie
Unlockable 4:
1. D.W.
2. Bill Nye
3. Annie
4. Tinky Winky
Tried to parallel the Smash 64 cast, even if some of it is a stretch. Explanations in the spoiler.
Arthur is the Mario of the group, a basic all-rounder mascot character.
Big Bird's large size is reminiscent of Donkey Kong.
King Friday could potentially wield a sword in his moveset, making him similar to Link.
Miss Frizzle is the main female rep of the group, like Samus (though to note, this roster ended up having more female reps than Smash 64 did, lol).
Barney is the funny dinosaur of the group, like Yoshi.
Wishbone has a much more cute, simple appeal to him, like Kirby.
Zoboomafoo leans more toward the "realistic animal" thing that Fox has going on. Also meant to promote his series, as it was new at the time.
Cassie is another cute mascot-like character representing a much more recent series at the time (Dragon Tales), like Pikachu.
D.W. is the younger sibling of another character on the roster, like Luigi, and can be a semi-clone like he was.
Bill Nye... well, I mainly just wanted to put him next to Frizzle, since they both teach about science. Like Captain Falcon, the person he's next to on the character selection screen has a similar profession as him (it's just science teachers rather than bounty hunters).
Annie is one of the main characters from Adventures from the Book of Virtues. She's the "obscure series rep" like Ness was (or at least, what he'd be seen as with the passing of time I suppose).
Tinky Winky is the weirdo joke character like Jigglypuff was.
