You did OK I guess. I think you were being way too agressive. Just dashing towards him and shielding isn't going to work. Everytime you did that he already had the nades down. Try approaching him with aerials.

Ally tends to air dodge before hitting the ground, try to exploit this by grabbing him.

Wow, I've just seen the match, and the first thing that comes to my mind in that your playstyle is very weird!

You mostly go back and forward, with sometimes using a Dair...
I think that you should stay away from snake, pressure him, and wait for the right moment to get a grab: grab is the best thing to do against a snake (aside from gimping ><), because it leads to easy follows-up, and because it's the best way for mk to rack up damages against a character like snake (heavy+fast faller).
Look at the m2k vs. ally set from cot4, m2k's playstyle is all about grabbing and tech chases.

Then, the biggest advice, or, should I say order, is:
Don't use pink mk!!! He is mine!

you did ok, it's not that you played bad, it's that snake played good. In my opinion, you need to grab a little more, and not rush in so much. But ur not bad.

I think the general consensus is : Needz more grabs & nados


I've only been playing for a week or so(seriously/competitively) and noticed when I started incorporating lots of grabs at low percents to rack up the damage, my winning ratio improved dramatically.

Be patient with Snake. You were hit by grenades a **** ton. They only have a 2 second detonation, so just wait until they go off to advance. But don't hesitate too long for him to set up proper placement for the C4 and mines.


FD and Snake = bad combo. You did play fairly well for those circumstances.

Yeah, biggest issue is that you kept on running in to grenade situations that even I would've avoided. Don't do that. If he keeps dropping 'nades, use aerial approaches.

That is a tough situation to be in. I typically just airdodge and wait for an opening. If he tries to bounce grenades as you get closer, use a dashgrab on him and, depending on how close you are to the edge, it should get you a fair distance away.

IDC behind him you can glide to him, or just shield all the explosives. i find dairing over the projectiles incase he decides to attack you works pretty well. otherwise, just dont let him get away from you to camp nades

Well, you're a MK alright.


Oh, critique? It's more an issue with your playstyle then anything else, you seem to knowingly rush into situations when there are grenades as a direct threat and you'll end up trapped. Just be patient, grenades aren't an absoloute defence, wait until one's not fully cooked or you can place yourself in a situation where you're not in explosion radius. From there, running grab is great against Snake, though you seemed to prefer shield pressure with aerials, primarily D Air, which is IMO not as effective or as good at placing you in an advantageous position.

That match needed more Nado & aerials.
And I also noticed that your approach either was a SH Dair, or Dtilt -> Grab, perhaps use more variety with your approach.
Your playstyle was really aggressive. Against Snake of all people, you really do need to play defensively.
