I played a lot of the Reach beta when it was available earlier this year. Hated it at first, but after a few plays with my old roommate we really came to love it. It seemed more balanced and less simplistic than Halo 3, and the adjusted game types were fantastic. Juggernaut went from being my least favorite mode to one of the best. Instead of being a victim to 5 other players, you ploy through your opponents like ragdolls. Can't wait to get a chance to try the completed game.
My first game of Juggs in the beta, I had a Dream Crusher, a Killimanjaro, and a Running Riot. It was AWESOME. :D Really wish I saved that. :(

I'm just glad they used the beta to fix certain things like grenades killing you instantly.

"OH ****! GRENADE! RUN! RUN!!!"

I didn't have a problem with the grenades killing you instantly, unless it was their intent not to.

Way I look at it, if it was point blank, a grenade blast should kill. Plasma is obvious.

They didn't kill you instantly in Halo 3. I understand if your shields are low or if you're running on your actual health but dying AT FULL SHIELDS/HEALTH from one grenade is ridiculous and unbalanced.

Your shields would absorb the damage from the grenade and protect you from death.

Other companies should learn that betas are actually a good thing. *COUGHMW2COUGH*

Frags, they didn't. But stand under a Plasma and Spike grenade. You die regardless of shields. Kinda don't see how it wouldn't be the same for a frag. :-?

I know frags didn't kill you instantly in Halo 3. You CAN survive a plasma/spike grenade if they miss sticking you. And you can survive a them sometimes. I can remember a few times where I stick someone and they don't die. Grabbing the OS and having it charge makes you invincible from everything.

Frags aren't supposed to kill you instantly. That's why I'm happy that they nerfed them in Halo: Reach.

Then we will leave it at that. Frags don't kill you instantly at full shields/health.

Plasma has a certain kill radius, shields or not. Spikes are different; Standing over it, or having it stick a wall behind you within a certain cone will kill you no matter what shield/health you're at.

Just saying.

It seems to go like this for blast radius;

(___) Frag

(__) Plasma (but can stick and deals more damage than frag)

[___]
.[__]
...V

That's some terrible editing on my part...

Anyway, the spike grenade is like a shotgun; cone effect, deadly stuck, doesn't expand outward like the plasma and frag.

Plus they're fun to drop in a bubble shield. XD

Grenades should indeed be powerful. But with the number of grenade people usually have, spamming them everywhere. Really have to have them toned down. Taking out shields and usually having a weapon powerful enough to kill in one head shot was more than enough reason to nerf them.

Power wasn't nerfed much, but that in combination with detonation time, and radius makes it better.

If you're good with grenades, one throw and one or two shots will go far.

I have a question: Will any of the Vidmaster achievements (3 and ODST) unlock anything in Reach? I want to know before the 7th so I can get the 7 on 7 achievement should it unlock anything in Reach.

I've heard you get things like avatar items and possibly some armor from Waypoint but I'm not sure if past games matter.

Funny how there is so much to do in this game. But the people who are streaming it early have like nothing cause they can't do online. Most of them forge random stuff but nothing interesting. And the ones that are doing campaign I don't watch cause I don't want spoilers.

Only way to die instantly from a frag is that if it clings onto you somehow (I had this happen to me for before. The frag got caught between me and my BR on my back.. My bro had a lucky *** chuck across the stage..) or if you happen to be standing directly on top of it. Otherwise it'll just lower your shield.

Spikers in a bubble shield is my most FAVORITE thing to do to people. Next to Ninja-ing. Ninjas are the most embarrassing things to do and have done on you. My brother';s too **** pro at it.. xD

Also to pretty much avoid dying from a frag... just jump before the blast. You'll get out of the blast radius and live. Shield will still lower.

I went to the Halo: Reach event yesterday in Toronto.

I'll post a short summary: I got to play laster tag, play Firefight mode in Halo: Reach and got my picture taken with Master Chief. What a great day.

I love moon jumping people in Halo.

It's just like.....wow get pwned.

I'll probably be buying this game just for forge mode/campaign.

I have no desire to play online at all.

You probably waited too long to pre-order.

Yeah you get Recon for Pre-ordering, or buying on the first day.

People in the EU need to Pre-order to get it.

I pre-ordered my Legendary Edition months ago :3

I hear it's not worth it, as it envelopes your entire body, thus making you a glorified glowstick
Sounds more like an epic being of electricity. worthitworthitworthit

I swear, I'm not gonna buy anything else until I get enough for it

you also get a grenade belt thing for your spartan(just for looks, doesn't give you extra grenades or anything) for pre-ordering it from gamestop.

The lightning puts a thunder cloud effect around your chest and a few static looking electricity bolts around it every now and then.

I won't get it for a long time, I'll be good with my flaming so I can work on all the other pieces I want first.

I'll get whatever comes my way for free. As long as I'm getting headshots with my BR I'm straight with life.

So I just played like, a 1/3 of the campaign.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Something that caught me off guard, but doesn't effect gameplay, or the story, in any way (i'll spoiler wrap it just in case) (highlight the first, top line if you want to know what the spoiler is about, the rest will be details)
There are two indigenous species found on Reach during the first couple missions (maybe more later on, but idk)

First: The Moa
Large, flightless bird. Runs like hell from you. Fun to kill. Scared the hell out of me and my friend when it came running at us.

Second: The Scary *** Gueta
Huge... thing. Like, twice the size of you. First found two of these things beating the holy hell out of a Covenant group. If anyone has ever played Fallout 3, think Deathclaw. iirc, took 4 shotgun blasts and 4 beat downs, point blank to kill, and that was after a battle with the covies, on normal difficulty. hit me once, drained my shields (no health damage tho) i really hope its a part of multiplayer.

edit: psh, love how links still show thru spoilers. you can find wikia articles on the forementioned things, without spoiling any other part of the game, if interested.
