We'll wait and see what the full game has to offer, huh?

I can't wait for using Forge with all 'dem shiny new physics and graphics... <3
I would love me some firefight versus with maybe forge (could be without forge). But Firefight with Spartans would be great.

Now make it Spartans versus Elite firefight, but with both sides with NPCs. Could even change it up. Some maps it's the goal of the covies to hold a position. I dunno. I'm running on 2 hours of sleep...

Hopefully everything which Halo 3 offered (i.e. split-screen online, theatre mode etc.) and more!
Firefight where you can play both sides, like Invasion, but endless until one team completes a difficult objective...

Anyone want to go for the Vidmaster: Annual achievement some time? I assume it's not extremely difficult, the hardest part is probably just finding players to get it with (since you need 4). If you're interested, add me (my gamertag is exactly what my name here is) and send me a message saying you're from smashboards or something.

Or for anyone who just wants to play some time. I play for fun and competitively. My highest skill is a 42 but that's only lone wolves, but the ranking system doesn't really tell how good a person is IMO. I am not a pro, but I rarely get to party up and play with good people for hardcore games, so if anyone's interested, we can play some time.

And you're telling me this...why?
Cause it would be a neat idea. An awesome add-on to everything Halo 3 offers...that's what I meant, there ought to be something great in Reach that Halo 3 doesn't offer...

Oh man, was that achievement hard. It took me and my friends like an hour to get it. Thank goodness it's worth 0 G. :bee:

I wouldn't go that far...it was cool and fun, but I don't think any game deserves that status, especially a beta...
For anyone that played the Beta, how does it compare to Halo 1? Asking because the first game in the series is my favorite, and I was wondering how Reach compares to the original.

When you put it that way... I find it rather hard to tell you. The Reach beta was only multiplayer and Halo: CE didn't have that (not on the Xbox version at least), so I can't say much when it comes to storyline or the behaviour and spirit of the Covenant or allied Marines.

The game's weapons definitely feel more balanced, I can tell you, despite Reach's somewhat obvious problems, according to pikaville. The game modes are far more entertaining and imaginative.

Yeah just over exaggerating. But I did miss it and regret it deeply...
I know, it's ok, the beta was cool. Don't worry, Reach comes out September 14th, and it'll have Campaign plus the FIXED multiplayer. Look on the bright side, at least you can still play it, you just have to wait a few months...

Tru tru. My step bro already has it on reserve. Only problem is that I see my dad and step family about every three months... :(

I heard many good things about it. Liking the shift back to how Halo 1/2 controls. :)

Yep. Melee as RB works out very nicely...at least you have it on preorder  sorry about that, though...I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get a chance to play it, though

Is reach going to/did the beta have a bumper jumper button layout? I really hope it does...

I've played on only default and bumper jumper, but after learning and using bumper jumper for a while I got used to it and I feel it's simply the best possible layout for best results.

The best explanation for bumper jumper setting is that you can jump while aiming with your gun (pressing LB to jump, while still having right thumb on the right stick), as well as being able to beat people down while aiming (RB for melee, while thumb still on stick).

Do you guys use bumper jumper too? If not, why not?

I've never tried bumper jumper, although it does sound like a good way to play...

I don't use bumper jumper, but honestly I've never really tried it out. I'm already used to the default layout so I'll probably just stick with that.

No, I use default controls and sensitivity. I guess I'm just that used and comfortable with the default controls. In the Halo: Reach multi-player beta, I switched to the Halo 3 controls. (Recon?)

I looked for a controller setup that was just like halo 3 default but I don't remember finding it. I do think Recon was the closest to the halo 3 default though...

So! Space fighting in Halo: Reach. Talk about an Unexpected Gameplay Change. I hope it'll be well implemented rather than just clumsily added in as an afterthought. I don't like how they Bungie seems to be ignoring canon, though. They could have done so well by instead giving you a Vulture gunship from Halo Wars and letting you blow the **** out of some Covenant ground troops or something, rather than a rail shooter.

Thoughts?

Space fighting sounds neat. I agree on the gunship part, but I think it'll be interesting to see what they do with space fighting...I'm sure it'll be another nice touch Bungie will implement into Reach.

@Raptor Pie, why post that for no reason? Your opinion's fine, but why waste a post on it? Go enjoy some other game, then, if you think Halo sucks, and leave us in peace...

Oh, you haz some St4R F0X in my H4L0Z!

I'm looking forward to it. I've been wanting space combat for a while.

And nobody start a canon argument. It's Bungie's baby. They can do what they need with it. I mean, the Church changes the Bible all the time.

Could you keep religion out of the thread? A comment like that could easily spark an argument.

Sorry, it wasn't. Jokes are supposed to be funny/humorous in some way.

I wonder if you can do barrel rolls.

Well, somebody had to say it, right?

Anyways...Halo: Reach is getting a new and improved Firefight mode!

Check it out here!: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/halo-reach-gets-new-and-improved-firefight-mode/

"First of all, Reach will include a new class: Medic. This Spartan comes packing a Dropshield ability -- the precursor to Halo 3's Bubble Shield.

But that's not even the best part: The new Firefight will have a host of customization options. Players can create their own tailor-made Firefight modes, changing the enemy types, weapon loadouts and other modifiers, including Covenant health and aggression. You could seriously create a mode where it's nothing but peace-loving Grunts, if you want. Then, you can fill out some info and share your custom version of Firefight through your file share."
