shut up and face it, the character is ****ing dead. In order to do as much damage as old garen with no AD items, new level 18 garen needs to have... let's see...

I don't feel like looking anything new up, so let's say he has 100 base AD at level 18.

So old Garen did 95+35 = 130/0.5 seconds = 260/second. New Garen does 180/second. New Garen needs 80 AD just to catch up. If old Garen had built AD (which was rejected for sucking *** because then you just ****ing die), you'd need to have 240 AD for new Garen to catch up to old AD Garen in terms of spin damage output.

Can you wrap your head around that? This doesn't need to go beyond theorycrafting. He was a bad Melee DPS and a pretty good offtank. Now, he's an offtank with no hard disables and no damage or a Melee DPS that doesn't catch up to the old Melee DPS that sucked *** until he gets to +240 bonus damage.

Stop living in denial, don't bother wasting your time playing him and just let it go. 3 months from now he might get a buff that makes him playable again, but atm, he's worthless.

Garen really should be one of the weaker characters, because he's one of the easiest to play. Just my opinion, I don't know exactly how hard the nerfs hit him because I don't play Garen.

As a side note, many of us managed to predict the flavors of the month before they happened. Mogwai played Panth (and now Kennen who is going to become popular soon imo), Pakman played Malphite, and Panda was talking about Locket/Visage Gragas long before the nerf. Anivia's become more popular too, but not to the extent of those three.

The patch notes already have almost twice the amount of replies of any other announcement in the entire forum... talk about controversial!

Thats stupid, he should hit hard as hell he is the "Might of demacia"

People get so caught up about balance issue they forget that some times its still a video game.

i believe that it is good game design to reward skill and knowledge of the game. sona was the biggest violator of this principle, but garen was pretty bad too when he was a top pick. i'm not saying that there always is a correlation, but ideally there should be.

But Ideally this is a still a video game. With lore, and individual character story arcs. Garen is strong because he supposed to be the greatest warrior of demacia.

Regardless of how easy it is to play him.

Well okay, "ideally", every character would be perfectly balanced. But if any character should be overpowered, it should be the ones that require thought and skill to use, not the "i completely deny your lane by standing in the bush" character. Again I don't really play Garen that much, I'm not sure if these nerfs were warranted, I'm just commenting that the old-old Garen was flat-out bad game design.

Lore really isn't that important imo... In SSBM one of the strongest characters is a puny balloon Pokemon, and one of the weakest is a nearly invincible psychic Pokemon.

standard build is d-ring, catalyst, sorc shoes, rylais, turn your catalyst into either bveil or RoA, Z-Ring. I think the DoT that bounces is your #1 skill priority followed by the silence, but I don't really know on that one, especial after the buff to the AoE %HP spell.

because it's stupid. People are telling me to stop theorycrafting when theorycrafting is revealing that he's basically strictly worse than he was prior to this patch even when building as a DPS. I'm tired of people just turning a blind eye to the fact that they took a giant dump on Garen. I mean, I don't really care, I haven't been playing Garen for awhile, but there's just no denying that this patch gave it to Garen in the ***, no lube.

It just pisses me off that the same people going, "omg, some scaling, just build him as Deeps now!" (theorycrafting) are the same ones telling me to stop actually doing the math and showing them that he's even worse as a DPS than old Garen was as a DPS. He ****ed, there's no way around it. We know this because he's strictly worse at the job that people already thought he sucked at BEFORE ANY OF THE NERFS. Remember that this character was out for months before anyone caught onto the fact that he was any good and it was all because people were trying to build him as Deeps. Then they build him as a tank and he's great, then he's nerfed and is playable and fair, and now they've renerfed him to the point where his damage isn't even as good as original Garen's when original Garen's damage already sucked enough that he wasn't worth playing unless you tanked out. Do you get what I'm saying? The case is airtight, he's bad, I'm giving you the full rundown and you're still not listening, so yea, I'm mad and I've got hate. He's an undeniably bad character now.

it's more about abusing a glitch where you could lose Baron Agro without having him regen than anything else. It was for a contest though, totally legit winning entry, I approve.

TL = teamliquid, a starcraft community I belong to. They have a good LoL following.

personally I think Garen was fine last patch. If anything, he just needed E to scale in a more sensible manner (instead of 15/35/55/75/95, maybe make it 15/30/45/60/75 and perhaps up the AD scaling to 40% from 35%).

I can't carry games with Gragas despite how good I may be. And for all I know he's still being banned every game.

I've been "looking forward to the next patch" for over 2 months now. Morello found the largest pair of testicles possible to start sucking on while balancing the game. I don't even need to objectively explain where he's gone wrong, I can just point to the fact that I've stopped enjoying this game enough to make the frustrations worth overcoming. This is a recent development.

Big difference between complaining about the game while in queue and complaining about the game while not wanting to play.

If you guys look at match histories where locket was used, you can see the locket with different stats:

375 HP, 500 mana, UNIQUE Aura: 9 mana per 5 for team, UNIQUE Passives: 10% CDR, Ability grants 20 mana.

Looks like the HP portion was removed. I'm like freakin' Batman.

just went cass mid against a kat with an ap rune page. her endgame build was 2 gunblades, 2 revolvers, and sorcerer's shoes. it was horrible, i barely avoided death like twice.

cass is really fun though, she's the first champ i got on release day and i don't regret it :D

her in-game stats are the exact same as anivia's, i believe.

Why do people still ban Gragas? Is it because they think there is nothing better to ban? Right now Malphite is far better than Grag IMO, especially since Locket was removed. And Janna should most definitely be banned. Beyond that I guess Panth could be banned (until they fix his ****ing invisible ulti bug) and that may be it.

In other news, I had an idea so I finally played another game. After my exam today Ima try out a couple other ideas I have in the back of my head. Its basically that LW is far better for pirate and revolves around the synchrony of PD + LW. I just need to figure out a build order that works. Considering rushing Shurelya+Kindle (25% CDR) then going PD. Dunno though.

old last whisper was better on Sivir -_-'... by a lot...

people still ban Gragas for the same reason they still ban Pantheon. we just need to sit here twiddling our thumbs until people learn to ban anivia and sivir. I actually do still think Gragas is incredibly strong, but Locket and Visage do bring him back down to earth.

The new Last Whisper makes Sivir basically unplayable compared to what she was before. There's absolutely no way to itemize towards AS anymore. At this point we don't even have the old Malady for a useful AS item.

Currently considering using Stinger as my AS item of choice, but then her DPS goes down because of LW instead of BF Sword and her survivability takes a huge hit because Warmogs is no longer an easy farm.

All in all I'm not touching Sivir again for a while.


[Edit] So I've been playing Lux lately, and I've come to think that she's almost on par with Janna. Lux is extremely good, and her ulti is game changing. Game changing the same way a Sivir pushes: You cannot push against a team with Lux. You will never, ever have creeps with your pushes. Also, Dragon/Baron snipes with ulti is hilarious.

and Lux is pretty good atm, but she is nowhere near on par with Janna. Janna is still #1 support hero by a mile and a half.

Lux is a very good support now, IMO. I'd say she's better than Morgana for that role, but outclassed by hard supports (i.e. Janna/Sona).

Why don't more people get Sword of the Divine? Its a super fun happy time AS item nowadays. I'm honestly surprised that Xin isn't considered OP yet, since I'm sure SotD + Ghostblade = pure sex. My guess is that as long as exhaust is around, Xin won't be considered OP (despite absolutely being way too strong).
