Because DACUS is totally what attracts players to Snake, Falco, Wario, and Jigglypuff.

You press C-stick down while in the dashing or running state (or from buffer), then hit up on the control stick and A at least two frames but no more than four frames after that.

I don't see how knowing that DACUS has a 3 frame window is going to significantly help you. You're really just gonna have to sit there and practice until you get the right feel for it.

What do you want? a MU guide? a list of "A"T's? A list of mix ups and gimmicks? A lot of playing Sheik is just getting used to her. Watch vids of Sheik players if u need a reference. Earth, Ed, Judo(if he has any), Ankoku, Billy(stealth), Tutu, virtually anybody you see on the Sheik boards you can look up on youtube as a good reference

imo if one wants to watch japanese sheiks, Daiki + Cross are the way to go. Earth goes Pit almost always nowadays sadly. But yeah, look up vids, play her out yourself, most importantly TALK to good sheiks, their advice is pretty gewd.

im the kind of player that needs the frames for playing so i know what im doing wrong when it doesnt work.
but yea, i watched a guide on youtube and it said hit up first then down cstick and attack.
the cstick down then up and attack is wayyyy easier.
:/ sorry for the pestering questions

Unless you're regularly winning tournaments with your main, I highly doubt that you need to go as deep as knowing the frame data of your character to do things right. If for some reason you feel like you do, it's right here.

There's also a decent frame data thread around here if you insist. But yeah, frame data doesn't help too much except for top levels except for getting a vague idea of what your move is supposed to do, which is still easier to learn from someone good telling you from experience lol.

Just watched some vids of Ed's shiek.. I'm gonna pick her up now lol

2 Questions..

1. What are the AT's to know for shiek? I know her DACUS timing is really tight so what controls do you change?

2. Why are these threads SO DEAD?

Sheik's are very business oriented.

They report RESULTS, compare FINDINGS and maybe ASK SOME QUESTIONS.

Then they leave to do other stuff.

Oh, as for your first question.

Uh... learn how to b-reverse if you don't know already. There should be a thread about tilt lock percentages somewhere here. Realize that sometimes, it's a real ***** getting Sheik off of the ledge and Dacus, I guess. A lot of things seem a bit more general and like it was mentioned before, just watch some vids of other Sheik's.

Here's something else that Tutu said that also gives a better description of Sheik.

There's not many AT's but there are a bunch of little nuances to Sheik, like knowing the correct angles for the autocancel on vanish. Some neat chain tricks, ftilt percents, which grabs can be crouched under, vanish wind percents, bair's unique property of indiscriminately pushing people behind Sheik. Needles having a random height, etc

Yooo

Um to DACUS with Sheik I'd reccomend tap jump off and setting L or R (whichever one you don't use) to attack.

And the threads are dead because were all busy fighting against bears on various mountains across the country.

vanish glide is a nice AT imo. I got some nice surprising kills with it :D
just run over the ledge and up b, if you do it right you slide vertical over the ledge while sheik performs her vanish animation.

my insider tip for sheiks dacus. Set r or l to attack and perform it with control stick diagonal up left or right and then followed with r and c stick down together instead of controll stick left or right, c down, attack+controll stick up
so u just have to input 3 commands instead of 4, well not sure if this was posted before :D
Imo it's the easiest method well the timing is still annoying as hell I cant' pull it off 100% even after weeks of practise against friends.
but I love her dacus <3

just my two cents

The timing for Vanish gliding is actually up+bing before you go off the ledge, then sliding off while the up+b is happening.

i prefer my wiimotechaku 4 button input. lol

how do you change the distance of the glide though? sometimes i've gone off a far distance and othertimes just barely leaving the edge before vanishing.

It depends on how close to the ledge you start the Up+B. The farther from the ledge, the less momentum you'll have because your sliding slowed you down before going airborne.

I know all the universal AT's like DACUS and b-reversals lol thanks.. sounds like most of her stuff is MU dependent.. challenging to play, very precise character, spacing is huge with her it seems. And I'm assuming her vanish glide works like mario's cape dash.

I'm having alot of fun with her but she's so light I have to work SO much harder to get kills.

Thanks everybody, sorry if that post was all over the place haha i'm basically just venting my thought on the character and asking you're opinions on them lol

No problemo.

She is really light and has trouble getting kills but is certainly is possible to do so. Yea, you nailed it right on the head, she is the most precise character in the game so everything will be tough. Yes to your assumption of vanish glide as well (I think). With my DACUS set up, I use R-attack, tap jump off, and X-grab for my normal grab purposes, making my Z-grab my pivot grab button.

I have two questions. My first one is what characters can Sheik grab release?

And a while ago, Lordehelmet posted this.

What can Sheik do to Falcon with ftilt?

Captain Falcon // 20%

That's all I found, I'm assuming that means 0-20%.
Where did he find this?

The EU Sheiks like Light & Izaw are really good to watch too. Sheik can be really good if a player knows how to read someone like crazy! Almost all of her moves can string into something else, and her speed allows her to punish most moves. I don't know why reading people is so hard to learn >_<

Jimmy, Sheik mains know that they play a bad character like Mario mains also should know. That doesn't mean that we don't enjoy the character however.

Unless you're talking about yourself there. to that I say welcome to playing a noticeably better character.

I was talking about myself sorta as a hint that "I don't really care how bad the character is"
well from my standpoint my Mario is still leagues better than my sheik(not saying much) so I'll keep practicing with her until i think she is tournament ready. Really fun character though, reminds me of Mario in some ways.

Sometimes I kinda feel that way as well.

I play Mario in the Diddy, Pika, Oli and ICies matchup for reference. I may play pit for Ice Climbers though.

I'll probably still go Mario in my tournament in December. Use sheik in friendlies for practice.

Hmm how do people get more
comsistant with this Dacus? I have only got like 3 dacuses in a row

I wish I knew around the area you want to trap the opponent in aerial needles offstage with the right distance to fair or nair afterwards (it's probably not a true combo per se, but it's still a really nice setup). Anyone got any ideas?

Oh, by this I mean for offstage, like how would I set it up so that I can use an aerial or DJ fair? I get the angles just a little bit off and it throws a wrench in things, when I see it happen w/ others sometimes. I think it's because they do it just over the edge so that when they fall they have a bit more leniency because they don't have to land onstage and get lag :p

just time it so the last needle hits? practice against an invisible opponent (go through the motions) and you'll understand it. the last needle is the only one that matters.

Hey, I have been thinking about picking up a secondary main (since my actual main is Link).

My actual question is would Sheik be a decent choice to pick up? My only other option would be to pick up Wolf since I use him in friendlies, same goes with Sheik. As for everyone else, I'm not fairly confident in my play style with them.
