Fair has more general purpose than DB. Therefore Fair is slightly superior to DB due to how much I spam fair.
Yes.

Also, no one thinks ftilt is one of his best? It shuts down a lot of approaches, nice range, etc. I would put it at 5 after fair, db, dtilt, and upb.

I c wat u did thar ^^

Ftilt is amazing...only if it is tipped/used to shut down a SH approach. Otherwise, it is too punishable, and Nair works as an anti-air move already.

DB is not his best move IMO. It's a good punisher, but Fair is every marth's best buddy. we use it nonstop and we'd be dead without it xD

I really only use Ftilt to stop aerial approaches or against people like Bowser that dtilt doesnt really work against.

Anyone else LOL when they saw counter in half of those posts?

It's always the n00bs that think Fsmash is good, lol. I remember those days...
BUT fsmash IS good. Like if you could tipper it every time, you could just take a step foward and the people would run off the edge with fear. And then start crying. Ultimate mindgaemz. Srsly

Well since it looks like everyone is starting this now, heres mine...

1)F-air (If this isnt number 1, your list fails)

2)Dancing Blade (I like racking damage, safe and easy, mixups, positioning, mindgames, this move creates it all)

3)Dolphin Slash (5 Frame Finisher/Punisher with Invincibility...too good, plus its his only recovery, how can it not be top 5 XD)

4)Shield Breaker(Good at high level play, bad when spammed, one of my favorite moves in the game because after multiple dancing blades you can sneak this in and get a free ko most of the time)

5)D-tilt (Very underused and underrated move, use it more, safe and leads into other moves)

My list is
1. F-air
2. DB (Punishment)
3. Dolphin Slash (KO, Escape mufti-hit attacks and CG)
4. Counter (If you don't like this move you don't know how to use it and/or suck at using it)
5. Back Air (KO)
6. N-Air (Good vs Fattys)
7. Fsmash (Still Marth's best Killing Move)
8. UpSmash
9. Ftilt
10. Up Tilt

Dtilt is overrated.

I hate the idea of the list. Are we doing it in terms of what should be used most? Or is it in terms of what is most useful when used properly?
For example, fair we use a lot more and most would agree it's pretty **** important.
But shield-breaking someone's shield is an insta stock at mid percentages. Isn't an insta stock more useful than a quick hit?

Ok not the best example since it's obvious fair>shield breaker but you get the picture I'm sure.

They all have different purposes. Apples and oranges. I wouldn't compare bair and dancing blade. Bair is an awesome edge guarding and kill move. Dancing blade is great for racking up damage and refreshing. They aren't comparable.

Best moves are subjective, its just which moves people like the most, whether it be because of it's potential power or how useful it has been to them.

It's not a question of which move should be used most as one must adapt to the situation.

The best move when used properly would be DS and counter, you'd basically be invincible.

IMHO:

1. Fair
2. DB
3. DTilt
4. Dolphin Splash
5. Bair

But, im guessing it differs because of gameplay and mindgame preferences.

lol i didnt actually make the topic for others to post their lists, just to LOL at gamefaqs. but its nice to see them anyways.

You can kind of think of these lists as an answer to the question, "if you could only use 5 moves, which would they be?" and you rank them in order of importance to you

Everything taken from GameFAQ's should be taken with a grain of salt and understanding that most of them are not thoroughly aware of the depth and strategies of the game.

My list would be something like this:

1) Fair
2) Dtilt
3) Dancing Blade
4) Grab
5) Nair

But that is just what is mainly used in my play style; it's all variable in the long run.

Grab is very underrated in my opinion. Yes, it was significantly nerfed since melee but it still holds a very psychological advantage: it is the one move that takes away all movement from the opponent when you have them. If you tech chase grab some one three times in a row, they get very frustrated because the game feels like it is no longer in their hands and can force then to make a mistake if they are not concentrated. That and dtilt into dash grab is great in the pressure game; unless they powershield or your spacing is wrong they won't have the reaction time (if you hit the IASA frames) to dodge. Against opponents like Wario, that's incredibly helpful since a grab release is a free upsmash or tippered fsmash.
