Also it kind of cracks me up that Geno was one of the more popular characters for Brawl but didn't crack 500 pages but this thread could potentially break 3000 by the time Geno is actually released. On the topic of detractors, it's kind of weird because I've seen people copy and paste things I said in the Geno thread in 2006-2008 as "lulz, epic cringe" and that you have full grown adults unironically attempt to dunk on high school/freshman me from more than a decade ago.

I did not get 50,000 signatures... I got about 444 which honestly wasn't terrible given we collected signatures in a super short period of time (I want to say a couple weeks but I don't remember). It's funny because people made fun of that back in the day too. "If Geno was REALLY popular, why weren't you able to 444 MILLION?! Checkmate, Geno fanbase." Also, if you ever feel bad about detractors, you'll notice the Brawl thread had them too and there's even MFs on the final pages of the thread full on gloating that Geno wasn't in.

Decided to read the Brawl Geno thread up until my first post on Smashboards and somethings never change:

-Literally the first response to the thread is insulting the OP, McFox.

-At least 3 detractors are banned for being overly aggressive by the time I make my first post.

-There's a Geno vs Sora debate.

-D1 can be seen on the first couple of pages. He's still a huge Geno fan too.

-People at each other's throats literally on the first page and sprawling debates by the second.

-GameFAQs legacy as softcore /v/ is documented here.

Is it worth mentioning that I think GameFaqs users are actually more terrible than /v/ when it comes to Smash Speculation? The one thing that gives me more respect for /v/ over Gamefaqs is that you won't /v/ being that much of a butt kissing hive mind compared to GameFaqs. The only notable difference is that GameFaqs has to fall in line and you can't post anything vulgar or else you will be terminated like any community board. However, I would at least like to imagine both GameFaqs and Smashboards users will also visit /v/ as a result. I just don't find /v/ to be there to be much of a hive mind/circle jerk compared to GameFaqs or Reddit. I think most doxx/ddos attacks on this site have also originated from GameFaqs as well which that alone makes me think those losers probably take this whole Smash Speculation thing more serious than thoses on /v/

It is actually really interesting to see that the Brawl thread more or less has the same history as our current Smashboards one. Most of the highly requested characters seem to have this sort of history to an extent. I don't think Lloyd has that much of a controversial history but I can only imagine what the Brawl thread for Ridley was like compared to ours.

I hope some day we get to share the same feeling that Ridley, K.Rool and Banjo fans got to feel seeing their character appear in a high production CGI trailer.

Edit: If this post breaks any rules in any way, I am willing to accept any punishment that comes my way. Just figured I'd share my two cents on the whole concept on GameFaqs being a softcore /v/

When Ubisoft Mii content was revealed, they revealed a full costume and a hat. Now that Bethesda content has been revealed, we only got a costume. Consider the Cacodemon hat was originally intended to be revealed alongside Vault Boy, but the Cacomallow leak was a legitimate leak and they had to withhold that Cacodemon hat simply because it would give away Geno, or at the very least, the Mallow hat. Why has no one posted this, this was my first and immediate reaction

The only character that came with six costumes/pieces was Joker. Hero then came with four, and every character since has come with five.

As cool as that'd be, I have trouble even believing those widely talked about 3D Mario remasters being in a collection. (I believe they're real, but unsure about the legitimacy of an "All-Stars 2.") Nintendo usually likes charging full price separately for remasters unfortunately.

I don't know if I ever fully believed the power six theory. I think the Square Only costume packs from Smash 4 and Ultimate have thrown that concept out of the window. If I am not mistaken, Byleth only came with 5 costumes as well.

You know what? **** it. If detractors can do it with CacoMallow, so can I. It's been too long for Geno's costume to possibly return, they've had 11 months to reveal it since Hero's presentation, so it is physically impossible for it to return and him not to be in Smash. They literally could never plan Mii costumes that far ahead to reveal a Geno costume in a presentation a year later!

It's definitely a possibility. Vault Boy coming by himself with no music is kind of a red flag. As you said, Ubisoft was a costume and a hat so Bethesda might have been too.

100%. The iconography of Super Mario RPG IS Exor stabbed into Bowser’s Keep. Be it just a far-off background element or a full-on stage hazard, Exor HAS to be there.

And people say that Cacomallow is fake because it can easily be a mod, but you get awful botch attempts like this. Cacomallow doesn't have that janky, unofficial feeling.

If it is fake, it is NOT a mod. More likely a pre-render, if anything.

And people said that there was a so much in favor of Grinch leak that it had to be true.
Don´t get me wrong, I think Geno has a chance. but I doubt cacamallow is real at this point. Hell, with everything going on, maybe cacamallow is real but Geno is still a costume arriving with Mallow and Cacademon costume with Doomguy (please don´t -_-)... I mean, if they are willing to wait for Heihacis costumes for so long, what really stops them to re-add Lloyd, Monster Hunter or Genos this late?

First things first, to see if Exor would be on Geno's stage we must ask ourselves a question. What would be the stage? I know there are people who want Nimbus Land, Vista Hill (In case this is obviously it would appear), The Axem Rangers' ship, the booster tower, the smithy weapons factory or the place of the candlestick fight (Although this can be done in the Garreg Mach Monastery) but I feel that the stage will be between Forest Maze and Star Hill. If it is Star hill exor it will not be, but in case it is the Forest Maze I see it as very likely. But what would happen to the spirit board? Every board has had only one legendary spirit (The Phantom Thieves, your DQ 11 team, Gruntilda, Geese Howard, Sothis and Max Brass), I think that spirit would be either Exor, Smithy or in a very rare case Culex

I dunno. That's actually something that I loved about Operation Starfall - it was more than just Smash, and wanted Geno back in mainstream Mario games in general. It gave something to rally behind outside of Smash.

This. Very strange decision. I want the SMRPG characters to come back in all forms of Mario media. It's why I enjoyed seeing Pauline and the Koopalings return.

However, after some discussion, we decided to keep the site on hiatus, as we believed that the website served it's purpose as a launchpad of sorts for Operation Starfall's initial buildup. We still own the domain, but the server is why the site is down. We've since shifted most of our campaign to the Operation Starfall Twitter and the Star Road Discord server, but this does not mean that the site is gone forever! We actually had some ideas of updates and new parts of the website before it was shut down, so who knows? Maybe it will return in the future bigger and better!

I feel bad for hearing that, yesterday I had found a place to make the profile picture that I am using (Btw: It looks a lot like my real face) and I took out my computer yesterday to edit it a little, I was making my predictions and wishes FP2, which by the way I will upload here when I finished them and I was going to edit my photo putting Complementary Geno Hat TM and the logo of the operation (You know, the exor with the Star Hill colors), but I was going to I saw a stream that would start about an hour later and I had trouble transferring the profile picture from my cell phone to the computer, so I said, you know what? I will continue another day. And now this happens, now when I return to edit my photo I will put the logo of the operation with honor
