Oh good, can't wait for half the video to remind us about the super fun Wedding Season with no QoL updates, ree.

As for that 3rd Square game, man could you imagine if it is a SMRPG Remaster/Remake?
yes. And it’s not just a remaster/remake of smrpg, but it’s packaged with Chrono Trigger (complete with DS Version multiplayer mode). And SMRPG has new game plus added. And both games get a new dungeon where you can get Mario as a silent party member in Chrono Trigger and Crono as a silent party member in SMRPG. And once you get them you can use them from the beginning on later new game plus playthroughs.

And then I curse my imagination for making what will never be.

Maybe for some people. The first pass had my number one most wanted and my number 3 most wanted (Joker and Banjo respectively) another character I really wanted but didn't exactly crack the top 10 (Byleth) and even if I wasn't crazy about Hero and Terry, they still ended up being great. All five characters are super unique and fun to play, and the amount of content in each pack is incredible. For me it's not all about what character it is but also the quality of the character within smash and the quality of the other content. So far each one has surpassed my expectations in quality in every way. To me, they started off super strong with ARMS, as although that wasn't on my wanted list at all, there's no way they won't be a super unique and creative character. I've got the pass pre-ordered because based on the content we've gotten so far, whether it's going to have characters I want or not, it seems like it's going to be great.
And that's a completely fair point of view.

And yes , a lot of work and love has went into these fighters packs. I'm not denying this at all , the characters are very well done , the stages are super pretty , the music is a banger , and the spirit selection is pretty good. It's way more content than most DLCs from other fightings games. (For the same price in FighterZ , you get one character , and their chibi as an avatar , so I get that point.)

However , after Sm4sh I decided to become pretty selective when it come to Smash DLC.
I ended up loving Mewtwo , and the Lucas reveal is still one of the most "feelsgoodman" reveal to me. I also really liked the return of Roy... And while I enjoyed playing Ryu in the sense that "i'm playing so badly with him that it became a private joke with my friends" , I absolutely didn't liked the next 3 characters. Their playstyle didn't griped me , and Cloud and Bayonetta's overpowerness left me a sour taste. I just bought them , and left them to take the dust on the Character selection screen...

The thing is , we all enjoy DLCs for different reasons. Some people simply enjoy a fun moveset and fun stage , it's all that matters to them.
But personnaly , I don't like buying a character , and barely using them. I'm more selective when it come to characters I enjoy playing. Sm4sh taught me to simply wait for the characters reveal , and buy them if I like what is being showned. I may have to spend a tiny bit more money , but that way , I'm simply 100% sure I'm going to enjoy what I'm buying.
After looking back at FP1... I can tell that personnaly , buying the full pack would have been a waste for me. Those characters are super well made , but I ended up only liking one.

I made this post in the first place because I saw so many people having a sour opinion on FP1 , especially because they pre-bought it. Like , dang , the hate I saw wasn't small , it truly started after the Terry reveal.
Buying a mystery box is just a practice I don't encourage to support. It's better to wait for those characters to be revealed , and buying the ones you like. Heck , that way , you could maybe give even more money to Sakurai and his team. But of course , that's just my personnal opinion on the subject , especially since I'm more selective with that kind of stuff ; I don't want to spend 25 bucks/30 bucks on DLCs like that. It's half the price of a triple A game , and I could get several indie games with that ammount of money.

However , as I said before , if you're confident in Sakurai and his team , and simply want really well made content , then go ahead. It's normal to feel confident when the Smash team proved themselves with the previous DLC pass. As long as you're aware of what you're getting into , then it's completely okay to think that way. I just saw way too many people get disapointed or angry at the FP1 selection because they bought it without thinking twice about it.

---

And dang , Mr. Jon Gamexplain TM gave us some spotlight , how kind of him.

More seriously , it was more of a fun theory to think about , the majority of us didn't saw it as "Yes , this is 100% a hint for Geno in Smash". More so "It's fun to think about that , and there is this small chance that it could actually mean something considering how Jon leaked content before."

And hey , for now , we don't have anyone coming into the thread trolling us or anything , so it's good. It's honestly not all that surprising to see the thread get screenshot'd like that , we always have like , 20-30 guests watching it.
A few of them will screenshot stuff to prove how much of an insane cult the Geno thread is , after all :4pacman: (For real tho , we're here to have fun and speculate about a game and character we love in the end.)

Just saw that a few hours ago, Amazon France added a couple a more Switch placeholder titles and, if the additions have been as NintendoSoup reported, so far the"unannounced" titles are from the following companies.

  • Bethesda (3)
  • Square Enix (3)
  • Warner (2)
  • Ubisoft (3)
  • Take Two (2)
  • Capcom (1)
  • Koch Media (1)
  • Nintendo (4)

https://nintendosoup.com/amazon-france-adds-another-set-of-mystery-switch-game-listings/

That's 19 potentially unannounced games which, comparing to last year's E3 Nintendo Direct which showed off a bit over 30 games; a few less but it's worth to take note and look back at said presentation to see which games that were announced then have released recently, and which haven't.

It's interesting to note that, in the 2019 E3 Nintendo Direct, DOOM Eternal is one of the titles announced as "coming soon", and among the placeholder listings we got 3 potential Bethesda titles incoming, of which one is Nintendo exclusive. Knowing that DOOM Eternal has already released in both PS4 and XBOX 1, the Nintendo Switch exclusive title seems to be it. Thinking of it now, the fact that we may be getting DOOM Eternal now would actually make sense if the plan all along was to have the release coincide with what could be the Doom Slayer's inclusion in SSBU. It would serve the purpose of promoting the title via the inclusion of Doom Slayer in Smash (along with stage, music). As for why would Bethesda hold off this version of the game and not have it released along the others (PS4/XBOX1); imo, they acknowledged that getting the Doom Slayer, heck, the DOOM franchise itself become part of what has come to be known as the Video Game Hall of Fame... game. #cacomallowisreal

Last thing; I'm getting the feeling that the Capcom title could perhaps be... Devil May Cry 4 port? (if so... Dante's chances would increase even more, imo).

I’d like a new game plus where you actually get Yoshi and Luigi in your party. Luigi has much higher HP than Mario but lower attack power. Maybe he has a few special moves related to Luigis Mansion. Maybe Yoshi has weak attack power but gets two turns in a row?

oh and make it so that you can substitute Mario out of the party.

oh and increase the difficulty of the game.

Yeah, i think one of the Bethesda games is actually Doom Eternal but since the martin stratton interview i have lose the hope of seeing Doomslayer playable (I just think cacodemon is coming with the ARMS Rep and Mallow with Geno), but at the other hand i think is possible one of the Capcom's games is DMC4 (i doubt we will get DMC 5 soon, i think eventually will be in the switch but i don't think will be soon), as you say the dante's chances will be even better (Since Byleth i feel then Geno, Lloyd and Dante are most likely in)

I doubt that Doom Eternal got held off for Switch so it could match with a Smash announcement. DMC4 is a real possibility though.

It is extremely unlikely Doom Eternal was delayed for Smash's sake... but not so unlikely that some Smash content was delayed for Doom Eternal's sake.

Imagine if one of the three Square Enix games was a remake or sequel to Super Mario RPG with the return of Geno And Mallow? I think that is highly unlikely, but I just want that so bad.

Its also great to see Square Enix still support the Switch in 2020. I think it still bodes well for getting another Square rep, hopefully Geno obviously.

Geno will be playable, but Square's music track record will find a way to give him negative amount of songs.

"In order to add Geno to Smash, we had to remove MEGALOVANIA and Floral Fury. Please understand."
"We also had to remove all the other characters and all music tracks. As well as nearly the stages, modes, and options. You can now only play in Timed Mode, with All Items On (and High Frequency Drops), on Great Cave Offensive, with at least 4 or more players. Please understand."

Aren't all 3 listed as multiplatform releases? I doubt SMRPG remastered would be one of them if that is the case.

The first game is listed as something that's coming to all platforms, the other 2 are something that is not coming to Xbox.

My guess is that all 3 Square-Enix listings are completely new unannounced games. I doubt any of them are TWEWY 2 because Nintendo published the Switch version in the West (so if they do it for a sequel, it would be a Nintendo listing).

Ah I didn't know that. I just thought those 3 listings were for the Switch only. I still think an SMRPG remake or new game is unlikely as all hell, but god dang I would just love it if were a real thing

That's also a totally fair point of view. This format and these characters certainly aren't for everyone. But to reccomend that people don't buy it unless they just want all the characters like the first post I quoted kind of discredits people who want it for other valid reasons.

They were originally Switch only, but got updated. But to be fair, something like a SMRPG remastered would likely be published by Nintendo too, and I think there were 4 listing from Nintendo that went up at the same time. So it isn't impossible, just very unlikely.

Definitely. Personally though, I want to like the character itself first but if they're playstyle is fun, then I'll still be satisfied. For example, I did not Incineroar when he was revealed but I do find him fun to play as, so I'm alright with him. The problem is that I love Banjo and I kind of like Terry for both reasons but I do not like the other three characters themselves and how they play. So, the first pass purchase was kind of a regret.

I bought it when Banjo was revealed but my hype might've took over my brain for a bit there.

Some thoughts on this final day of May:

-A lot of people are reeeeeeally pushing the fact that it's Splatoon's 5th anniversary which is why I think it's a precursor to something else. I can't recall the last time people gave this much of a **** about the 5th anniversary of a series because, in the grand scheme of things, it's not super impressive. Yes, a lot of series are dead on arrival but companies usually don't start making a big deal about this until the 10th anniversary. Again, this is also highlighted by the giant Splatoon Amiibo rerelease dump coming in the fall. On that note...

-Merch dumps are rarely done just for the hell of it and typically tie into something else. Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon getting Amiibo dumps is definitely notable. Amongst our fanbase, Banjo's merch dump in 2019 still rings the loudest. Of course, not everything ties into Smash but companies typically only make a lot of noise if a major announcement is going to accompany it. This is especially true for rereleases of merch, where Nintendo would specifically bring back certain Amiibo for to use with new games.

-It's hard to say how Nintendo will go about the Smash announcements in June. For all we know 6 and 7 could be announced on different days, annoying as that would be. I'm really hoping that it's just one presentation but honestly who knows at this point?

...Could a SMRPG remake/port even be released on anything other than Switch? I know there have been a handful of exceptions in the past, but for the most part Nintendo keeps Mario on their own consoles.

I think SE could utilize Mallow & Geno in any game they wanted, but the company has not had a great track record these past few years in doing all that much with 16 bit and older properties. The Secret of Mana remake was a half assed nothing, playing the first six Final Fantasies on modern hardware is limited to underwelming mobile ports, and numerous games/franchies from the time period are largely inactive. Even the Dragon Quest trilogy on Switch is not the NES, SNES, or even GBC versions, but once again the mobile ports.

The Trials of Mana remake is basically the one recent exception, and much of that feels like it succeeds in spite of the more limited budget Square Enix seemingly gave it.

Nintendo almost gave me another heart attack. I saw Nintendo go live with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and thought it was a new reveal and the ARMS rep. Turns out it was just a tournament.

GOD DANG IT NINTENDO WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS TO ME?

There's a decent amount pointing to the week of 8th for Nintendo's announcements BUT that doesn't mean they can't start earlier. For example, the 2015 Smash Presentation was on a Sunday, oddly enough. I'm of the mind that the Smash announcements will be their own day early on or spread out over a week because there's a couple of very heavily implied announcements that Nintendo wants full focus on. It's Ultimate's 3rd year at E3 and they likely don't want it to be an attention *****.

Fatman said the week OF the 8th, not the 8th specifically, and that being E3 week, also the Amiibo restock on the 12th, yeah I agree, week of the 8th (2nd week of June) is looking pretty good.

Highly unlikely, but it would be a miracle if the ARMS rep as well as CP7's reveal were announced on my birthday. My birthday is on a Sunday [the 14TH], so its probably unlikely, but man this would be one of the best birthday gifts.

Fatman said the week OF the 8th, not the 8th specifically, and that being E3 week, also the Amiibo restock on the 12th, yeah I agree, week of the 8th (2nd week of June) is looking pretty good.
Do you think we could get an announcement this week of something that is going to happen the week after, if you know what I mean? I don't think we will get something like that, but hey; one can dream.

What exactly is pointing to the 8th? That sounds like good news to me!
1. Nintendo's E3 presentation would have been on Tuesday June 9th if E3 hadn't have been cancelled.

2. A couple notable Nintendo merchandise drops the week of the 8th including the first party Smash Amiibo rerelease on June 12th.

3. Microsoft and Sony's presentations are this week.

If it's a Smash Direct/Video, it'll likely be 1-2d before. If it's a shadowdrop then obviously not, but I really doubt it'll be shadowdropped.

Edit: Lol did anyone see the private "new this week" on Nintendo's YouTube channel ended up being a (really crappy) ACNH video? XD

I don't think the Smash trailers/presentation will be shadowdropped because the last time Nintendo casually dropped a major Smash announcement? 2007... I think the shortest amount of notice has been a day. Pokemon and Smash are like the two series that Nintendo simply doesn't drop **** out of the blue for and why they usually get their own standalone presentations.
