Know this is comng out of the blue, but I actually want to make a video/essay about the legacy of Geno (and Super Mario RPG as a whole) and his road to Smash (including some notable rumors like The Grinch Leak) when it's time for him to get in. Unless someone is already planning that...
As far as I know, no one in this thread has done so yet, so go nuts

I've considered doing something like that, going over everything that happened with regards to Geno getting in Smash from the Brawl days to all of the rumors and speculation. As of late, however, I'm more interested in doing a BestGuyEver-esque video for Geno when/if he gets revealed. By the way, for anyone reading this, I'm still accepting ideas for little scenes and references I can put into this video.

Aint nobody got time to read all that

Yeah , I don't want to sound like some kind of anti-smash dude , but I don't recommend spending 30 bucks on FP2 , unless you just want a full roster.
Spending that much money on what is a mystery box , is just a very risky buy overall...

Yeah , you'll spend like , 5 or 6 less dollars , so that's basically a free character. But it's only worth it if you like at least 5 characters out of 6.

Once again , I'm not saying this out of negativity , but I'm sure I'm not the only one who ended up liking only one or two DLC characters , and probably wouldn't play the rest for more than 2/3 matches. Of course , anyone is free to spend their money like they want.

---

You know , the more I think about it , and the more I'm anticipating a ARMS only Smash reveal. I don't know how they would handle the reveal , but if it's a Sakurai presentation... We never got two characters revealed. Of course , Sakurai could just say "Here's 2 characters lol" because he clearly doesn't care about patterns...
But on the other side , I'm a bit scared that they wouldn't want to overshadow that ARMS rep. Let's be honest , if we get Geno a FP7 , I'm sure that the vast majority of us would completely forget about the ARMS character. But this issue could also be played around by simply releasing FP7 later than ARMS , but who know.

In any case , June is right around the corner. So we're going to know pretty soon. I'll probably take a break from this thread , I have quite some games to finish , and the wait is honestly killing me , I need to relax lol.
Anyway , I wish luck to all of you.

Maybe for some people. The first pass had my number one most wanted and my number 3 most wanted (Joker and Banjo respectively) another character I really wanted but didn't exactly crack the top 10 (Byleth) and even if I wasn't crazy about Hero and Terry, they still ended up being great. All five characters are super unique and fun to play, and the amount of content in each pack is incredible. For me it's not all about what character it is but also the quality of the character within smash and the quality of the other content. So far each one has surpassed my expectations in quality in every way. To me, they started off super strong with ARMS, as although that wasn't on my wanted list at all, there's no way they won't be a super unique and creative character. I've got the pass pre-ordered because based on the content we've gotten so far, whether it's going to have characters I want or not, it seems like it's going to be great.

Personally, and this may sound stupid of me, but I do plan on purchasing all DLC Fighters for Smash, regardless if any of my future most wanteds get included or not. I already have FP1 and I am a Banjo & Kazooie main, and already purchased Volume 2. I just don't think it would be Smash Ultimate if everyone wasn't here.

We've been noticed. And not in a good way...

Welp, can't wait for the army of Twitter Holesums to start screaming "GENO FANS DUMB TOXIC BAD AND ENTITLED???" and then act they're our moral paragons for not looking into anything Jon says at all.

Sometimes, I wonder why I even bother.

That tweet kind of reminds me of this clip from the second Scooby Doo movie:

*People (or haters) when Geno fans makes a genuine case for why his chances to get into Smash are good

*People (or haters) when Geno fans makes a harmless joke/observation about Geno getting into Smash due to a silly connection that probably shouldn't be taken too seriously

But guys he didn't say "it's not happening", that could be a what of disbelief because someone cracked the code! He's so shocked, all he can say is "what", but more like a "how", y'know?

PS: No, I'm not adding it. That's the super ultra cryptic mega coincidence of coincidences (plus I never believed it and I doubt the majority of you did as well),

Meh, if Smash development has taught us anything, is that surprisingly timed coincidences commonly can happen. Recall how the Grinch Hoax had Isaac on the fake mural, and then the actual Smash site had a glitch on its mural in the exact spot where Isaac was and only on that spot. And this happened before it was confirmed fake. The timing of that glitch issue, which I don't recall ever happened again, was almost like the universe trolling.

Do any of think that when Geno comes to Smash, some random collector is gonna show off the legendary myth that is the Geno Plush from the orignal Mario RPG line at last?

Let's not jump to the conclusion that there's going to be a wave of detractors/haters. If they do show up, just report them.

That card tweet discussion was from like, what, 50 pages ago? And the discussion didn't last long at all. It came and went as quick as it was introduced

I'm seriously wondering how Jon even found that post. Someone must be sending him screenshots from this thread lmao.

We were just joking...
So this is something that has me a bit bothered, because the post in question, being mine, was not a "joke" in the sense that it was supposed to make people laugh. Am I serious about that kind of thing? Not really. Jon Gamexplain probably knows who the next handful of characters are, but he likely isn't hinting at it through this damn spy novel reacharound of a Twitter post. But what if he is? That's the fun in this magic word called "speculation", it's harmless "but what if he is" posting.

The makeup of this thread and the Geno community is users typically aged 17-mid thirties, so I think it's fair to say that we're grown ass adults with jobs, lives, aspirations, the whole nine yards. We choose to spend some of our free time posting in discord or in this thread or in some other venue about the likelihood of a party member from a 24 year old SNES RPG joining Super Smash Bros as a playable character. That is to say, that a community made up, on average, of adults, is talking about the possibilities of how much fun we'll have spending 5.99 USD on a playable character in a party platform fighter made for children and marketed to a the 13-16 crowd.

There was a time in my life that this would get you called "loser" in the very best case scenario. But there was a bigger time in my life that people started to tell each other to like what they like, without shame (as long as it doesn't break the law or infringe on the rights of others), because it's what makes you happy, and at the end of the day, your happiness means a lot more to you than what other people think of you. I encourage everyone in this thread to make wild ass speculation if that's what makes them happy. I mean, come on, here in the year 2020 we're facing a pandemic and social upheaval and economic problems and... **** just sucks. There's more to care about in the world than if someone dislikes your favorite Smash character, or if they dislike how you decide to dissociate from reality for even a few minutes.

Don't let people tell you what to think, and don't go back on what you think because people are mean to you about it. Stand proud and believe in your Smash character dreams. Personally, I will own up to all of the things I've said, speculation, statements of opinion, etc, until the day I die. If I end up seeing that I'm wrong, I admit to it, because it isn't so hard to swallow your pride when you've spent approximately half of your life doing just that.

I encourage each and every one of you to use the ignore feature on your platform of choice if someone's making you legitimately uncomfortable or angry, and to use the report feature on your platform of choice if you feel they're breaking the rules while making you uncomfortable or angry.

Peace, Geno friends.

At this point in time it's not really a surprise that we got someone out here in this thread sending random screenshots without context to people just to make us look bad :/

Sorry, I was panicking, I should have explained myself better. I know that It wasn't a joke, It was more like: "This probably doesn't mean anything, but there's a 5% chance of this being an actual subtle hint." That kind of evidence that you don't take seriously until it ends up being real.

I just don't want to see anyone, especially not in this community, feel like they have to live in shame for gives them joy. That's entirely the motivator behind my post and your post was as good a springboard as any.

Hellooooooo Geno Thread! It’s me, Lord Woomy! You may remember me from who gives a ****. Let me ask you this: Have you ever gone to a place designated as a Geno support community and been shocked and disgusted after finding out it was a place full of people who support Geno for Smash? And did you ever feel frustrated when you wanted to put them back in their place and tell them their most wanted is never coming to Smash but never had the arguing prowess to do it? Well I know I have and I’ve decided to teach you the essential skills for arguing with Geno supporters!

Hold your horses – Now, we all may just wanna go into his support communities guns blazing and immediately start telling everyone how stupid they are for thinking Geno is in, but that’s not well mannered! Instead, try to act like you’re actually a Geno supporter who has just lost faith or has come around to thinking he works better as a Mii Costume/Spirit/Irrelevant puppet so that people won’t immediately catch on to your intentions from the get go! Doing this will let you build up a false sense of trust with the community before you go on the attack, possibly gaining you some sympathy points. Whoever said being two faced was a bad thing?

Come up with a tragic backstory – Now, some may find it unbelievable that you’re somehow a Geno fan that actually doesn’t want him, but that’s where this step comes in! Come up with some phony story as to why you are physically incapable of wanting Geno in anymore. Here, I’ll give you an example: “It was a September day of modest temperature, I had just gotten done with my occupation of Redditing when I remembered a Nintendo direct was scheduled for that night and I got giddy just thinking about what was gonna be revealed. I got more hyped as I saw Banjo was releasing that night and we were getting more DLC after FP1. “Could it be Geno???” I thought… oh how foolish I was. Soon came Sakurai’s presentation that I watched so happily. Then it happened. I saw the screen go dark and Megalovania started playing. A Sans Mii Costume with Megalovania was revealed… and then my heart shattered. I saw it in Sans’ eyes… In his smile. I knew he was laughing at me… MOCKING ME. TO MY FACE, I HEARD HIM SAY “Geno will be a premium costume like me and you’re gonna have a bad time!” I began crying, I fell to the floor drenched in my own tears and sweat. Sans Undertale had deconfirmed Geno for me and I want you to avoid the same fate I met…” Fake sob stories like this one will gain you everyone’s sympathy!

Begin to go on the Attack – By now, the regulars in the community have prolly caught on to the fact that you’re full of ****, but this only allows you more leverage! Debunk all their evidence, it’s clearly fake anyway. CacoMallow = It’s been too long and I can nitpick small unimportant details that mean nothing. Mii List = been too long and dude clearly just got lucky guesses. Music take downs = Nintendo takes down unrelated music sometimes, so this can be discounted entirely. Mii costume not appearing = you know exactly how the licensing with Square works and it makes sense they didn’t include it, also they only wanted to promote DQ and you can prove it mathematically! Sakurai saying he wanted Geno = He lied, no biggie. Insiders hearing his name = clearly just for the premium Mii costume. Spirits don’t deconfirm = yes they do because I said so. Begin treating your opinions that Geno is stupid and dumb as objective fact. Make sure to use the general Smash speculation community’s opinions of his chances a basis for your argument, as we all know it’s full of unbiased folks who have gotten everything correct in the past. As we all know, the community often predicts the future and consensus absolutely matters when it comes to speculation!

Remember: False equivalencies are your friend – Remember to shoot down Geno’s chances with false equivalencies about how this is just like another time the community was wrong! Just endlessly deflect with things like Grinch and Rayman leaks were fake and never really try to come up with an actual coherent argument. Afterall, if one leak is fake, they all must be, right? … right?

Play the victim card – Oh no, were you not received well? Of course you weren’t, Geno fans are stupid. Begin taking everything as an attack or threat to make yourself seem like you got jumped by all these meanies! Use words like “toxic” or “rude” when arguing with people to really drive the point home that you were attacked after innocently coming into a support groups to **** on said character’s chances. Also call them a cult or echo chamber, because using either of those terms will gain you an insta win. People have no right to be tired of your crap as you’re entitled to the Geno community more than actual Geno fans. Crocodile tears have never been more effective!

Hope that back up arrives – By now, you’ve probably become outnumbered by Geno fans after entering the Geno community, how terrible! Thankfully for you, random people that also don’t care about Geno will compulsively check Geno communities to back you up and prove that you’re correct! Hopefully, they’ll be a bit more experienced in using these tips and tricks and you can just sit back and watch those pesky Geno fans have to deal with all the trolls you left the door wide open for.

Declare victory – Congratulations, you’ve won! You’ve proven that you are objectively correct in every way shape and form and Geno fans are now legally obligated to hate Geno and never want him in Smash (However, Geno fans are criminal scum, so they’ll probably still want him regardless). How can you tell you’ve won? Easy! When people have gotten so sick of you and stopped replying to your posts, you know that you’ve actually trolled them epic style and they’ve run out of arguments to use against you. After this, it may be a good idea to just stare at the drywall for a few days and contemplate what decisions in life got you to this moment.

And that’s it, follow this simple advice and Geno support communities will inevitably be in taters by your skills. Do this on repeat and you’ll eventually destroy the Geno community. I assure you this will be the end of them finally. And that’s it, make sure to buy my 17 volume set of books on why I think Geno is never coming to Smash (Warning: They all just say “I don’t want him” over and over for 500 pages and nothing else). Anyway, I’m off to go shopping at Walmart with no mask, wish me luck!

The family of Lord Woomy would like to inform you that uploading this post to the Geno Thread was in his last will and testament. After this, please forget that he ever existed.

More Switch placeholders have appeared, with the most notable being another Square Enix game, bringing the total number of Square placeholders to three.
The plot thickens...
Oh ****, that's pog. I'm not gonna lie, I don't think SMRPG 2 / Remake is coming (although I'd like it to), but if nothing else this is a pretty big show that Square and Nintendo are on good terms right now.
