I always saw it as a placeholder. Two years for 6 more characters when they did that not once but twice for Smash already in half the time? I do think they were taking worst case scenarios into consideration but I'm still of the mind that, despite everything, Season 2 will be done by the end of next summer at the latest.
1 extra character takes more time, and giving them a longer end date gives them more breathing room. They've also been working on DLC 6 and 7 while 4 and 5 were being finished most likely, so this just gives them a lot more break time, that thing Sakurai desperately needs, even moreso now with Coronavirus being a thing.
Oh and they haven't even talked basics, right? I heard about that somewhere (probably Twitter), where people were annoyed they don't know the important stuff but learned about the super tech stuff that really, really doesn't matter to the vast majority of people who want info.
This, though if it's not done, that's just more break time for Sakurai.

Basically same, except the part about "all gaming", replace that with "in Smash". I definitely have other requests for gaming outside of Smash that I'd still want to come to fruition.

Speaking of obscure characters, I find it hypocritical that some people in the Smash fanbase were happy that the Ice Climbers return but resent Geno, Isaac, K. Rool, and etc because they’re obscure and dead characters.
I think it's just that Ice Climbers have only been relevant due to Smash. A lot of younger play don't realize the context of when Ice Climbers were added in Melee, they were obscure characters.
This. Ice Climbers are only known to Smash fans and Nintendo fans who play NES. The general public... not so much.
However, it DOES have the UNSTOPPABLE GENODIA! (throws hand forward) MIND CRUSH!
As sadly ironic as that is, to be fair, one could argue that there is more video game fan art in existence than was ever officially released for pretty much any character in existence except for maybe Pikachu and some of the more prevalent Pokemon.
I think it's possible individuals creators who created these models have spent more time then Geno's creators did drawing him and creating the sprite art in the first place. Imagine that.
It says a lot about the impact someone's creation can have on others. It says even more when someone else can take your creation and make it 10x cooler and more exciting than it was when you created it.
Which is, if I may ask?
My big fear is him getting a Premium Mii Costume ala Sans and CupHead. A worse fate then Assist Trophy in my opinion.

Same. The Mallow part was always more significant than the Caco part. If you're (the general "you") wanting both, I wish you luck, but I'm just here for the doll. It won't at all fell hollow to get the only character I really care to get in at this point.
On the other hand, does Bethesda really deserve anything, given what they've done lately in the industry? The main Id-rep is one thing, but an always-Bethesda-rep? Idk how I'd actually feel about that given how they've been lately.

A question: How would you guys feel if Doomguy was added both a Mii Gunner costume and as part of a DOOM Spirit Event, but his Spirit Battle has you fighting a dark green Master Chief with E1M1 as the background music?

Of what, CacoMallow? The TL;DR is that a bunch of modders have tried to replicate it and can't quite nail the detail of the Caco hat along with the clean, smooth, hat placement. There's always a tiny amount of clipping here and there and it's very clear that it wasn't done officially. So, unless this is just the best modder in the world making a fake leak that every other modder can't seem to nail down quite right, the costumes seem to be legitimate and official.
Not to my knowledge, but I did make this a while back which covers a few things regarding it. I'm actually a bit interested in making such a post now.
