While I was planning to keep out until the direct I saw Dustin post about a new 711 display for banjo and noticed no one here has talked about it yet. So hero's went up around the 24th I think and was taken down on the 4th, all while releasing on the 31st. So since banjos is going down on the 15th I think it's now very likely to be coming MUCH sooner than we all expected and very likely will be featured in the main direct.

Rip amiibo theory tho now were totally in the dark.

Because IAmShifty claimed to know who the next DLC character is and claimed to be the one who said Piranha Plant and Marx. Sure they didn't have to comment on him but he could have spread misinformation that would be similar to the Banner Leak. Completely different to YouTube algorithms detecting Nintendo content.

From what I remember of that music video, it was a blue balls joke that played the first notes of the megalovania beat on repeat. If I remember the title of the video it was "[OFFICIAL] Super Smash Bros Ultimate soundtrack - Megalovania". It was nothing more than a joke to trick people into thinking it was real.

It’s likely we’re getting terry at this point, and snk, and the fighting game series he’s from is supposedly really big in South America and China...

So terry is the pick for them, banjo was the pick for the US obviously, and japan got two with joker and hero, which makes sense since sakurai obviously is gonna give his home country a little more...

Are folks seeing where this is going? If we add Bayonetta from four to be Europe’s pick(I believe smash ultimate started very early development/planning right around her being chosen iirc), we’re seeing that sakurai seems to be trying to give every major region their most wanted, or one of their most wanted act least, characters.

This also makes me wonder...what if there’s actually a vague, deeper meaning to the “everyone is here” slogan of ultimate?

In addendum to this hero released a week after it went up, so if banjo follows the same pattern he'll be up on the 9th, that said given how much Nintendo loves 24 hour release notices for smash dlc it might coming as soon as the evening of evening of the direct. Still feels weird to think about but given how complete he was in June this isn't that big a stretch, hopefully if he's in the direct that doesnt mean 4 isn't but given the snk debacle id say thats doubtful.

I really don't think that's the case. This a situation of 'seeing the forest for the trees.'

Everyone keeps saying an SNK pick is niche, but SNK was a titan up there with Capcom for years! People have been clamoring for the return or SNK titles with characters that have fallen into the abyss. People desperately want a "Capcom vs SNK 3" and with the resurgence of SNK it could happen! Also, considering that arcades never died out in Japan and that these games are always more popular for longer overseas, SNK is likely on the daily minds of those in Japan by a large margin even if it isn't that way here.

When you add on that KoF is what caused Smash to even exist in the first place, it really just makes sense.

This is a perfect example of the Smash fanbase being so removed from the FGC that most of you don't even know how big of a deal KoF and SNK are.

Back to SMRPG though, I would like to add to my clip that I think giving Frogfucious the ability to Scan for an enemy's weakness since he's old and wise would be a cool idea as well as apply the Frog debuff where he can have a move that just turns them into a Frog and they can't use anything but weak basic attacks.

Shantae: Probably my favorite indie character, and played all her games. I even backed Half Geno hero enough to design one of the bad guys(I made Slime Gal) Huge fan of Wayforward too and feel they deserve it.

I don't get the SNK hate tbh. Yeah it wasn't a major part of most peoples childhood here, but that is true for most fighting games. I also fail to see how the fact it's the same as the SNK Heroines copyright really disproves it. I think it's likely, but not entirely true (mostly because i don't trust leaks).

I all honesty I'm fine with having another fighting game rep in smash, and SNK is probably the best choice. The other fighting game companies are either more niche (Like ARC Systems), are basically non-existant in Japan (Netherrealm Studios) or make more then just fighting games (Namco). Hell, the term SNK Boss has become used to describe Brutal fighting game bosses in general.

I'm hoping Mr H was right because that'd mean the final character is (most likely) either Rayman, Shantae, or Geno and I'd be content with any of those three.

Anyway, about SNK, I know nothing about its characters. I'm hoping for a female so Milk-Bosaku can be legit but I guess I'd be ok with Terry, though I agree there should be at least one female fighter anyway. Mai would be nice, I think. That way they can bring back the notorious Fan item from Smash Brawl.

This whole SNK rep isn’t completely bad news for Geno supporters. I am a bit thrown off by this choice although SNK does have some deep history with Nintendo. Personally I would say that a SNK rep is just as obscure as Geno(or more so), so it’s not like a character has to be popular or even well known to be added to the roster.

This at least shows that not too many characters are off the table for consideration.

Nah, they're just band-wagoners in an echo chamber, mostly. Someone did a "Most Wanted Newcomer" poll in a tournament bracket style, and Geno came third with about 13000 votes to his name. Then the Grinch Leak came in and suddenly everyone ever wanted all of the seven. After the Grinch Leak the only one with lasting care from r/smashbros was Banjo. Because Hero is in, a lot of people think Geno is impossible and the sub band-wagons on it, which sucks, because I'm sure there are tons of Geno fans there, as the poll showed.

Let's be real - a lot of Smash speculation consists of bandwagoning. Even here, whenever a credible rumour pops up, people head to the support thread for that character to voice their support for them. (either that, or act annoyed because they've never heard of that character before, so clearly they don't deserve to be in Smash) Mind you, I'm guilty of jumping on bandwagons from time to time (either because a character seems much more plausible than I thought, or because I wasn't aware that they had a support thread), so I don't mean that in a negative sense.

Also, I doubt that there's a lot of overlap between the people who voted for Geno and the people who say that Geno's impossible because Hero is in.

Also, another thing worth pointing out, I don't want to brag but I CALLED it. I said Banjo & Kazooie would probably be coming out early to mid-Semptember based off Direct releases and big events.

So, if I can make more predictions, our SNK character, if they're announced at the upcoming Direct, should be out sometime in November with #5 being announced at the VGA. #5 should be released early February.

I'm not calling anyone out about anything that had been said, I'm just excited my prediction was right.
