this is where i repost all those pictures of people laughingThe ending episodes of Air are also incredibly sad (and super awesome) (;
I didn't really think clannad is sad (haven't seen the second season yet). Really, really enjoyed it... but sad? Not really.
the point is that you are judging clannad without having watched after storyThat is where you disqualify yourself in terms of taste
Ah well... de guestibus non est disputandam and all that, i guess![]()
I wouldn't even try to deny that. There's great shows that aren't cute in the slightest, but if something is adorable enough, I don't need much else to enjoy a series.i think you just watch things that are even mildly adorable
SnK manga > SnK anime
I'm not totally sure actually. When I watch the anime, it feels actiony and cool. When I read the manga, it feels conspiracy-y and mysterious. I think it's just a tone thing. I big part of SnK is the whole "Who is the real enemy?" thing and you can't really feel that in the anime nearly as much as you do in the manga. What makes you say that? I'm not agreeing nor disagreeing, just interested. I like the manga more mostly because of the fact that it's just so far ahead of the anime, but do I enjoy how great the fights (and especially the use of 3D maneuver gear) look in the anime.
Have you ever seen Sailor Moon? I'm assuming not, otherwise you'd know that Madoka pretty much copied and pasted the plot, it's an ok show, but definitely not amazing, the only redeeming qualities are the art and the fact that it doesn't have the ridiculous amount of filler that Sailor Moon does. Also rating Basilisk and Elfen Lied higher than Champloo, I don't even...I'm bored, so I'm just going to throw all the anime that I've watched into a tier list. The side notes are very general.
A tier:
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (For anyone who judges this based off of the promo pictures, just watch past the first 3 episodes. I felt so attached to these characters, great plot twist involving one of the girls who I thought was going to end up a cliche. Amazing music. It's just...great. Again, don't judge it based off pictures, it's actually really dark.)
Oh man I'm so with you on that. Even in the latest chapters, I can't pin down the author's style well enough to tell who is who sometimes. In one of the recent chapters, I couldn't tell if a person in a very important scene is Eren or Mikasa. That was a VERY important scene too and I simply couldn't tell until I checked another forum for it.i cant tell who the **** is who in the SnK manga
seriously

You clearly either haven't seen much of Sailor Moon, or are really bad at recognizing underlying themes, Madoka is literally exactly the same plot, just less drawn out, all the characters in Sailor Moon go through all the exact same hardships, and Champloo is so dissimilar from FMA that you can't even really compare the two they aren't even the same genre, but FMA is **** regardless, Brotherhood is good though. Finally, Elfen Lied is probably the most overrated horror anime ever, even Highschool of the Dead is better, and that show is all jiggling **** and panty shots, but at least it has believable character development and decent voice-acting. Some examples of horror anime that are actually good would be Hell Girl, Perfect Blue, Hellsing Ultimate, Paranoia Agent, Higurashi: When They Cry, and Corpse Princess. No, and the difference between Madoka and Sailor Moon is that Madoka is MUCH darker than Sailor moon. And the characters you actually feel for them during their struggles. Unlike Sailor Moon, it shows that being a "magical girl" isn't all that it's cracked up to be and requires a lot of sacrifices. Even Madoka's ending is bittersweet, for even though they destroyed the witches, corrupted magical girl souls, there's still always going to be a form of evil brought on by the human race, this time in the form of greed. It's a neverending cycle of misery actually.
Sailor Moon? I mean, it has a decent theme song. That's it. And Madoka doesn't rely on sexual exploitations like Sailor Moon with cheap miniskirt. Or dumb, predictable romances like Sailor Moon and the Masked Phantom or whatever his name is. The relationship between the boy and Sayuka ends in tragedy, she makes the ultimate sacrifice of her life just to give him happiness.
Sailor Moon has nothing on this show. Sailor Moon is mostly stock.
And Champloo is honestly just a more mediocre version of Full Metal Alchemist. Champloo left too many questions unanswered at the end. Did that girl ever marry Mugen? Or did that other girl marry Jin? What happened to all the previous characters that they met with before?
The only character that is better in Champloo I felt was Fuu>Winry. But that's about it. I'm not saying Champloo is bad by any means, just that I saw about 30 episodes of FMA is saw it as flatout superior.
Basilisk can go either way honestly. I can see why people would not like it over Champloo, but it's a guilty pleasure for me. I love ninjas and deathgames.
As for Elfen Lied, that one song was just so powerful it overthrew Champloo for a higher spot. It's probably the most beautiful song I've ever heard in an anime, and they always apply it at the right moments so make those scenes all the most saddening when needed. And Lucy/Nyu's character is very, very good and easy to relate to her feelings. I mean, I know Champloo was going for that hiphop samurai theme, and the theme song was...cool, but it's not my style. And they don't exactly implement it well. It just comes and goes. Champloo should of have a more consistent storyline, it just has a ton of mini adventures that are fun, but the main plot usually just feels thrown in there just to get it out of the way. No one's overall skills actually increase over the course of the show, they just stay the same. Unlike FMA, Edward gradually gets stronger over his adventure.
So, now you know.
FMA was terrible, imo. I consider every anime that deviates too far from its source material bad and FMA did just that.FMA wasn't terrible. Brotherhood was superior in every way, though. I'll agree with that. The only facets of FMA that I enjoyed over Brotherhood was the lore behind the Homunculi (their creation and their weakness, mainly), and how they were characterized. FMA's Greed, for example, went out in a way that I felt was more fitting to the character. Not to say that Greedling (Greed from Brotherhood) didn't have a great curtain-call, but it just didn't sit well with me.
...
Somebody mentioned Paranoia Agent. I MUST SING TO YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
In all seriousness, Paranoia Agent was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and watch it twice.
Smooth Criminal
I don't really care for the first FMA anime, but that's a terrible reason to dislike something. It's not really a flaw to be different from the source material, it just matters how good the writing is in the new thing.FMA was terrible, imo. Ok you have a good point, but the fact that FMA deviated from the source material and had terrible writing was what made it bad, the whole red water nonsense was like, what? Plus Dante was a far inferior villain to Father and the ending of FMA made absolutely no sense and many of the characters were much less developed in FMA, most notably Scar, Mustang, and Hohenheim. Also from what I've heard, the Trigun anime follows the manga pretty well, but they made another manga Trigun Maximum which continues on past when the anime ended. As for Shin Megami Tensei, that universe is so huge I'm not sure if it's accurate to say that it deviated from the source material because the games are all just a bunch of different stories that are set in the same universe. How the hell did Samurai Champloo lead into Full Metal Alchemist?
I mean, I see where it happened, but I just, what?

At the very least, Trigun turned out fine. :/
Also, not anime, but given what I've heard about the source material, I'm really glad the Shin Megami Tensei series has deviated as far away as it has from the digital devil story novels it was based off of.
I usually get my anime from amazon so, no. But nice Baccano! and Summer Wars are both amazing. I haven't seen them yet, but I've heard generally bad things about the Evangelion remakes though, same for Afro Samurai. On an unrelated note, did anybody get anything during Rightstuf's sale? Here's what I got:![]()
Well Champloo and Bebop are from the same creator so I don't think it's that bad to compare them, Bebop is definitely better, but Champloo is still really good, imo. This is actually partially relevant, but I watched both Champloo and Afro Samurai within a 2-ish month period and I liked Afro Samurai more. Champloo felt like hip-hop retro Bebop and maybe that hurt my opinion of it because I was comparing it to Bebop. Afro Samurai felt so cool. I loved the animation, Samuel L. Jackson did a fantastic job voicing Afro and Ninja Ninja. I love everything about that show. As for the Evangelion Rebuilds... They're good movies, don't be confused. Compared to Neon Genesis Evangelion, these movies should be buried alongside E.T. for the Atari. If you remove the connection and pretend it's an original series, it's definitely worth watching.
The animation's gorgeous too.
I don't know, I was pretty satisfied with it, it's not like it had any filler.I agree that Champloo is good, but I think they could've done it in less episodes. I don't think they answered enough questions to justify the 26 or so episodes.
Well Champloo is a comedy and not an adaptation of any source material, so the way I see it every episode is relevant. The definition of "filler" becomes skewed with episodic shows like Champloo or Bebop. To one person, the plot of that one episode is enough to justify its relevance, but to another person it's just an episode to drag along the show.
True, I guess my point was I didn't really feel like it left much unanswered.Right, so going by that viewpoint filler is essentially impossible and therefore saying there's no filler doesn't actually accomplish anything.
