Sheik is a great character, and you would learn a lot and have a lot of fun by coming to the tournament. We have a very friendly community and we are all supportive of more people playing Melee. I know that I would definitely take time to teach you some things, and I have no doubt you'll make a lot of friends if you introduce yourself when you're there.

If you need help finding me or getting started, I'll wear a captain america hat :D

Hmm, I'd love to come to this, but not to compete. I'll in NO WAY be ready by the 13th and that'll just be giving money to the pot.

Are we allowed to come to Waba during tourney days to have friendlies? I never asked.

Besides, I'd take money out of my pocket for the upcoming brawl tourney

Many of us going have never won a tournament and probably don't expect to win this one. That shouldn't stop you from entering, however, because you get a lot of valuable experience from tournament matches, experience of a different kind than you get playing friendlies. In tourney matches certain things come into play a lot more than in friendlies, like counterpicking, being able to switch characters between games, more camping / CGing / other assorted "cheap" tactics, and in general a higher level of pressure.

So just go, enter the tourney, but don't beat yourself up if you lose all your pool matches (which you most likely will). Just try to learn from the experience and do a little better next time.

Umm yeah I'll go ahead an back this up. I'm nOOb (seriously, my first major tourney) and I'm still entering (even though I'm broke virtually all the time). Just jump in and enjoy the matches you have, losing is where you learn to improve your skill. Everyone here (I'm assuming) lost their share of first and second rounds in the past if they still don't now, yet they keep it up.

Just sayin'

double posting is crazy and should never be done except by professionals. kids(except ColBol, he's pro, i'm sure) do not try this at home.

@Kyd - some people have a hard time dealing with failure. they are mentally soft. octix seems to be one of these people. get tough, son!

Dumplings are friggin delicious. Oh, and I suppose I'm not important either. It's ok though.


Hmmm, maybe I'll make it out of pools in my first singles tourny if I do enter... or not. Heh.
