how much enjoyment can we remove from this game in making melee as cometitve as possible ? surely there has to be some kind of balance. No one wants smash to end up like street fighter, smash is a different game altogether. Just pretend for a minute that wobbles was a technique that didnt exist and as far as the competitive smash scene has gone it never really did until now, would it really be such a bad thing for this community if the technique was banned ? Im quite sure ice climbers would still be a very competitive character and this game would be more fun to play.

I'm an unknown with this game (heck, EVERY game I play), and I'm pretty sure anyone in here could mop the floor with me, but I do wanna say "congrats" to Wobbles for quite a few things.

1. The obvious (winning the tourney and 700 bones in the process).
2. Furthering the community. Yeah, that's right. What you did will cause the SSBM community to evolve, just as other fighting games have. Those who don't evolve with it will drop, and I could care less, because they had no interest in making the community any better in the first place.
3. Having the sack to defend that you did #1 and #2 above.

And this is coming from someone who tries to main Yoshi (over Peach). Go look up how well he does against ICs. ;P

Also, if anyone has any links to KKK's vids (now or eventually), by all means, link away. I <3 low/bottom tier, and I'd pick Kirby as a secondary if I didn't suck so much at the game.

When I heard the results for Evo South yesterday, I wondered how it happened and/or how good of a turnout it even had. Now, after reading through everything, I can't wait to see what happens at Evo World. Congrats, you guys just made me (and I'm sure a lot of others) even more interested in the game.

As far as wobbling goes, WTF kids if HUSBAND can get out of a Wobble, I'm sure you guys can learn to. Here's what you do: When you're getting blizzarded, rotate the stick as fast as you can and mash buttons, and you'll be out after the blizzard ends.

Huh? What? I would love for the competitive scene to feel more like street fighter in the way we think about the game. You got to understand the gameplay of Smash will never feel like Street Fighter because the engine is so different. The reason I played Smash instead of other games if because I loved the engine so much (especially the traction system and air combat system). I like my competition rough. If someone has something that can destroy me in a tournament, I want them to use it and destroy me. I will get a flame of anger about the techique inside me and I will find ways to beat that person. Just because Smash isnt street fighter doesnt mean we shouldnt let the COMPETITIVE community of smash become as competitive as it can.

I must put in a good word for Wobbles, whom I met at NCT2 and am glad to see is doing even better than he was then.

Listen here. Wobbles did something that most people desire to do but few ever do. He won a tournament with people in it who are considered to be top 15 in the country or so. Yes, it was a single-elimination tourney, but the fact still stands. However, instead of just getting congratulations and perhaps jestful wishes of harm from his opponent's supporters, the guy has to DEFEND HIMSELF for winning! Add to it he has to be spotlighted into this argument every time, I find it ridiculous.

Everyone who's done anything competitive has had to deal with people whining and complaining during and after a match. It's simply no fun at all. I really don't like thinking about someone who's worked hard (and travels to go to tourneys too) have to put up with so much after doing something we all want to achieve.
