Right, so this year in August Alex Strife will host Apex 2, a huge Melee and Brawl tournament on the EC of the US. Since it's in the middle of the holidays and I have plenty of time to get some money earned I consider going there. But Luigi Player HATES flying and he won't come along so I'm asking around if other european Brawlheads are interested. I don't wanna go there alone but if a couple of dutchies / frenchies / germans / spaniards are interested I'll go regardless (I'll need a new teammate though -_-). If you're interested please post here so I can see how many people would like to come along.

(Mods move this if it's the wrong sub-forum)

I'll be working together with Alex so that he has a contact person people from Europe can direct their questions to. So, if you have any questions about APEX, be sure to ask! :)

Armada will be special guest and is possibly getting his flight paid.

Here again the information about the tournament:
Apex 2010

Hello everyone,

After some time to think about it I decided to run Apex once a year. From this point forward all Apex titles will feature the year. This is the Summer tournament everyone is going to remember. Here is the low down.

Date is August 6th – August 8th
Location : Rutgers University

oMyself
oChibosempai
oNeal (pending MLG event)
oJV(pending MLG event)
-Professional Commentating Featuring the likes of
oTwins
oPierce

oEevisu

Special Guests

Obviously one of the things I love to do is to help provide people from everywhere a chance to come to my tournaments and experience a great event. With that in mind I am announcing the following groups of people attending my event based on speaking with them.

-Armada + Most Europeans including possibly Calle W
-The Japanese
-Mexico

All around the world I will be doing my part to spread the word for brawl and melee. Obviously if you know me personally you know that no matter what this will be a great experience.

Travel Plans:

Airport Information
Newark International Airport (Code EWR) is the closest airport to Rutgers University, about a 40-minute train or car ride to New Brunswick, NJ. Philadelphia International Airport (code PHL) is about 1¼ hours from Rutgers, but there is no direct train route to New Brunswick.

Train Information
If coming from New York City or Newark Airport, take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line train and exit at the New Brunswick station. Once there, contact either me or one of the TOs and we will pick you up.

Hotels

As of right now I am in contacts with several hotels for a reduce rate. For now though, please visit http://www.hotwire.com/hotel/results...earchTokenId=2 for a lot of reduced rates there. Most of these are pretty close to Rutgers and should not be an issue.

Media Information :

Ok guys here is where I tell you what I am providing. Check this all out :

-At LEAST 1-2 Livestreams per game ( this INCLUDES BRAWL + )
-AT LEAST 1 Projector for each game
-Interviews Streamed while downtime is occurring for each big match

For this to happen I will provide the following incentives
-$5 off venue fee for each Wii/GC brought

Unless I somehow land the best job in the world (or close) I don't think I'll be able to come =/

Was looking forward to a huge tournament in France/England anyway.

Definetly interested. Hope I can make it ^^

Edit:
I checked for prizes but I've only been able to find mad high ones. Like 800 to 900 euro's and such. Lowest I heard of were about 600 euro's. That's a lot O.o

Did anyone in here have more luck?

Apparently it's with flights different than with other travelling: Last-Minute-flights are a lot cheaper than early booking. Though it's very luck-dependant.

Edit:
Also, if Marcbri and someone from France (Kaos? Achoral?) could translate the contents of the official thread's OP into Spanish respectively French and put it on their regional forums, perhaps with updating the interested-list in here or in a message to me, it'd be REALLY awesome.
As said, I'm sort of Alex's coordination help for European players.

Edit 2:
Alex wants me to tell you that you should try looking at Philadelphia International, and perhaps other airports in New Jersey. Apparently, Philadelphia International is an airport with cheaper flights, and about 1 hour away from Rutgers University. According to him, there's possibilities for going by train, renting a car or he might even be able to have a shuttle service where the people are being picked up from the airport and brought directly to the venue.

1) It is not:
Philadelphia airport: 120km
JFK airport: 80km
Newark airport: 40km
2) NYC is a lot cheaper.

Since Luigi_player most likely won't come I'm also looking for a teammate. I play mainly Snake in teams and I do NOT suck at teams. I'd like to team with a Wario, G&W or MK player if possible. PM me if you are interested.

It's funny, the same day I saw this thread my mom announced that we are going to america this summer. I guess it's my destiny to be there.

I'll definitely do whatever it takes for me to come.

What is exactly that "special guest" thing btw ?

Does it mean we can get some financial help to attend the tourney ?

edit : should have read the last posts~

Just throwing this out there. The biggest tourneys this summer will definitely be APEX and G.A.M.M.E
I really want to see a large European attendance at both. Hopefully we can get Mexico and Japan at these as well as other countries in South America and Asia.

Quick question since I've been having trouble getting a hold of Japan. How did you guys contact japan for ESA2 or did they just randomly come out of the blue? Cj is suppossed to be coming, but we wanted to get word out to tani and other top smashers as well.

Interesting that you, as an American, are posting this here, in the topic about Europeans attending the American tournament of APEX. O_o
You should ask Alex Strife, I don't really know how he got ahold of the Japanese.

CJ used to study in France, and there was a strong bond between him and the French community. Therefore, it was pretty easy for us to get in touch with him, and he I guess it was pretty good at advertising France and the tournament to the other Japanese players. In the end, only him, Masashi and Chô were able to come, but Hiko and Tani were interested too).

Good stuff, guys. I hope the European Brawl community will have a strong presence at this tournament.:)

Pretty much the same people who came to Pound are also interested in this, but flights will be more expensive and some of us already had enough trouble getting the money for Pound, so... I personally have some other plans at this point of my life that don't (really) involve smash, so I'm very unlikely to go.
