Can I take some of your replies on page 702 for my poll? I'm looking for obscure but loved characters.another fun question to hopefully stir up some new names: what is the absolute most obscure, least known character you can think of that you want in Smash?
Slightly random topic incoming: what stages would you expect to see for your MWs?
I was listening to some Klonoa remixes and... kinda realized choosing a single location to represent that series isn't easy. I've experienced similar doubts about other franchises in the past, like KH, for instance.
I think if we do a star allies stage might end up being hyper zone as it was teased up a lot in star allies, the lor starcutter could also work, as well as the access ark since that's still pretty recent, if BD got in i think he would come with content from Return to Dreamland, Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot and Star Allies.Assuming Bandana Waddle Dee was to be the next Kirby character, I'd think the most logical games to take stages from would be either
1. The most recent mainline Kirby game
2. Kirby Return to Dreamland (The first game that made BWD playable and gave him that "4th party member status")
For the first one, well, if we assume BWD would be added because of a new game we don't know about, then we obviously wouldn't know what stage we could get from it either. The most recent mainline game we got now is Star Allies, and with that game, the alter you fight the squidward-looking mother****er at could make for a good stage, or the ship where you fight the 3 sisters (I haven't played Star Allies in a while if me forgetting names didn't make that obvious...).
For the second possibility, Return to Dreamland. The Lor Cutter could maybe be the stage and work as a traveling stage, traveling to spots within KRtD or maybe even other locales within the Kirby series (It is supposed to be dimensional I think so...)
I think Squeak Squad was the only one to get a remix. That was back in Brawl though.Honestly it's hard not to see the disparity between how Sakurai-era Kirby and post-Sakurai Kirby are represented.
Characters: All three Kirby characters debuted in games Sakurai created. This is the least egregious category, though, because if you had three Kirby characters of course it would be this trio. Of note, Kirby and Dedede pull their Final Smashes from post-Sakurai games.
Stages: Every Kirby stage is based on a Sakurai-era game. Dreamland, Fountain of Dreams, Green Greens, Dreamland GB, Great Cave Offensive, Halberd...
Of note, Epic Yarn was apparently in the plans to get a stage in 4, but lo and behold, as soon as a Yoshi game that hadn't been released yet was revealed with a similar aesthetic, Epic Yarn was mysteriously scrapped in favor of it...wonder why.
Music: Only a small handful of songs from the modern era are present...and none are remixes. Every Kirby remix comes from a game Sakurai made. Air Ride has multiple remixes, and all post-Sakurai Kirby games combined have zero.
Assist Trophies: Knuckle Joe, Nightmare, Chef Kawasaki. All from the Sakurai era, with fan favorites like Susie, Magolor, and Galacta Knight being no-shows.
Spirits and World of Light: Marx is a boss. Gourmet Race got its own sub-area. Bandana Dee doesn't even get a spirit battle due to being an upgrade for normal Waddle Dee.
To me it's pretty telling that most of the already-scarce content from modern Kirby comes from direct music rips and reused Spirit artwork, all of which were pre-existing resources. Meanwhile almost every bit of original content in Smash pulls exclusively from Sakurai-era Kirby games, with the only two things that aren't from those games being the Ultra Sword and Masked Dedede.
We can only hope.X for Smash plz
Speaking of, I'd imagine most likely Central Highway, Sky Lagoon or New-Type Airport. There's a slim chance they'd pick something like Jakob or Noah's Park for Mega Man X. Same for Zero unless its his GBA version.Slightly random topic incoming: what stages would you expect to see for your MWs?

Zavok isn't enough, we need all of the Deadly Six as their own character slotsI remember when someone added Zavok to their roster of hated characters. The tagline was, and I quote:
ZAVOK ZAVOKS INTO BATTLE I FORGOT WHAT HE DOES
H*** YEAH, ANOTHER KATAMARI FAN!!!Prince of All Cosmos: Space Mushroom
I don't know how Smash would translate the central mechanic of Team Snakemouth having a front character, middle character, and back character, but it would be amazing if it could.I’m down for the stage game.
- Team Snakemouth: Snakemouth Den (Yes this entire post only exists to shill Bug Fables)
Zegram Ghart from Rogue Galaxy is one of my favorite video game characters ever. He has a badass design and is voiced by one of my favorite voice actors ever (Steve Blum). Unfortunately, he has basically no chance to make it in seeing as Rogue Galaxy was PlayStation exclusive and he wasn’t even the main character.another fun question to hopefully stir up some new names: what is the absolute most obscure, least known character you can think of that you want in Smash?
I never cared for Dragonite. I loved Dratini and Dragonsir but I couldn’t help but feel hugely disappointed in what they evolved into. No offense to anyone that actually likes it, that’s just my personal opinion.I just want to bring attention to the fact that Dragonite has an unused model in Super Smash Bros Ultimate which was supposed to be used as a Pokeball summon.

If the rest of this DLC is using what got left out, I could see Dragonite as a Fighter and I for one would actually be okay with this.
I'd be dissapointed with Dragonite. I like it as a Pokemon, but it'd just be a dragon. We already have a dragon-esque Pokemon.I just want to bring attention to the fact that Dragonite has an unused model in Super Smash Bros Ultimate which was supposed to be used as a Pokeball summon.

Bandana Dee - Castle Dedede
Don't know about you but always felt if anything his stage would be the Megaton Punch Championship.Bandana Dee: Waddle Dee Train Tracks
She'd be cool but if a Valve rep is happening I expect Gordon Freeman because Half-Life changed FPS games (and arguably video games as a whole) forever. Plus Valve actually care about Half-Life now that Alyx has released. I don't think Valve care about Portal. How would we feel about Chell in Smash?
Portal is my favorite Valve franchise of all time so I would LOVE to have her on the roster, and she'd bring a very unique gimmick with her portals.
do we really need another Superstar stage?Don't know about you but always felt if anything his stage would be the Megaton Punch Championship.
I don’t really think Megaton Punch as a stage would be that interesting. Even Great Cave Offensive makes more of an effort than that.Don't know about you but always felt if anything his stage would be the Megaton Punch Championship.
I mean it is his most thematic and recognizable stage associated with him.do we really need another Superstar stage?

I like Dragonite, but I definitely understand the misgivings about him. I mean, Dratini and Dragonair were more serpentine, then it evolves into a flying Barney the Dinosaur.I never cared for Dragonite. Hey, I wouldn't mind Chell personally. Could be really interesting not just due to the Portal gimmick, but also how to build around that. How would we feel about Chell in Smash?

Don't give Sakurai ideas. You know he wants to.do we really need another Superstar stage?
Characters don’t get chosen based on how easy it is to fill up spirits, stages and music. It is the other way round with characters getting chosen first, then the rest of the content is decided. Sephiroth would have been in regardless of how much content FF had in the base game just because he’s Sephiroth, especially as FF is still underrepresented for its scope and size in terms of titles and cumulative sales, as only FF7 got love. Nintendo wouldn’t have rejected a character based off these arbitrary and irrelevant reasonings in the pursuit of profits.I still do wonder how are they going to do a Sonic characters challenger pack (either Tails or Eggman). Fighter pass 2 had a lot of franchise who already have some content, but none of them was on the level of Sonic. Arms had no stages and no music and a lot of characters with no spirits, FF7 had only 2 music and no spirits besides Cloud and Xenoblade 2 had only 3 music with no stage and not a lot of spirits. Of course, Sonic has a lot of stage possibility, with many games being not represented in this category. But music and spirits feels relatively complete, of course we could have more, but I wonder if Nintendo and Sakurai will really feel like Sonic really need more. I agree that Tails is a probably a possibility that is being slept on quite a bit, but I have a feeling that they're going to put already represented franchises only if there's a big lack of content, which Sonic doesn't really have.
Besides, I personally still think Puyo puyo have pretty big chances. It's probably not going to be the huge e3 announcement, but let's assume that the e3 announcement is a more western character, maybe the final fighter could please more to Japan, which Puyo puyo would fit.
Master Chief - Halo, especially Installation 04. But 05 and 07 (Zeta Halo which Halo Infinite will take place) can workSlightly random topic incoming: what stages would you expect to see for your MWs?

Personally, I'd go with Primp Town, even if it's technically from the Fever games. It is a recurring location, and I'd argue it's one of the most well-known.What would be a good stage for Arle...?
Other Final Fantasy games who didn't get representation:Sephiroth was a case of everything coming together. Square wanted to push the VII Remake, Nintendo saw profit with his inclusion, Sakurai liked him, and it was a chance to address the lackluster FF7 content in Smash.
Like at the very LEAST I wanted with Sephiroth’s pack music from other FF games if not S-E games as a wholeOther Final Fantasy games who didn't get representation:

Representing something like Kirby with Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Adventure and Super Star leaving out modern representation is like only having Final Fantasy 7 and not the other games.
I’m kind of split on this. On one hand, I would love more Final Fantasy content from different games. Final Fantasy IX and X are my two favorite games in the series with IX possibly being my favorite game of all time. On the other, Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine are my favorite characters in the series with Sephiroth being one of my favorite characters in all of video games so I’m really glad we got him.Other Final Fantasy games who didn't get representation:

Oh come on now, we all know the Pokemon rep is usually(but not always; Pichu(although Pikachu was one at some point as we saw in a Flashback), Jigglypuff(although it followed him around at one point), Ivysaur(although Bulbasaur could still evolve despite stating it didn't want to) and Mewtwo) someone Ash has in his team.I just want to bring attention to the fact that Dragonite has an unused model in Super Smash Bros Ultimate which was supposed to be used as a Pokeball summon. Also to note is that this model is entirely different to the one used in the Kalos Pokemon League stage.

I think the best solution to this specific setup would be to just not give Chell a dunk. Since she's the one who has to set up the portals like that (she who probably wouldn't have a good enough recovery for it to be worth going out of her way to set up), she wouldn't really cause the scenario if she couldn't take advantage of it, and if her opponent could, then she could just move a portal. My only issue with her - as I've wondered quietly about when I've seen Chell movesets - is the risk of people camping near a Portal, waiting to toss the opponent through it. If two Portals are placed at say a Battlefield platform's underside and underneath the ledge, then it'd be possible to secure way-earlier-than-intended kills by Up Smashing / Throwing / whatever into the Portal and then interrupt the opponent's double jump / Up B with the off stage edge guard. Characters with long recoveries like could especially exploit that.
I think Sword and Shield might be old enough at this point that if we get another Pokémon rep, it wouldn’t necessarily be from that game.Oh come on now, we all know the Pokemon rep is usually(but not always; Pichu(although Pikachu was one at some point as we saw in a Flashback), Jigglypuff(although it followed him around at one point), Ivysaur(although Bulbasaur could still evolve despite stating it didn't want to) and Mewtwo) someone Ash has in his team.

(although I'd still prefer Gengar or Sirfetch'd if we go with Ash's current team)
I mean, it's not any older than other Switch games that got a character in this pass. Remember how people were saying that XC2 was irrelevant because of the XCDE and rumors of a XCX port? We all know how that turned out.I think Sword and Shield might be old enough at this point that if we get another Pokémon rep, it wouldn’t necessarily be from that game.
