If Bethesda got a Rep, do you think it’d be for a specific series or represent the whole company like Terry did?
While Doomguy would make a cool fighter and is the frontrunner, I can’t really imagine a good Doom Stage that isn’t covered in gore.
Something like a Skyrim or Fallout or potentially even Quake stage would be easier to imagine.
Commander Keen and Wolfenstein spirits would be cool too.
Thoughts?

I’m pretty sure everyone is going to hate my pass but I’m going by my personal favorites rather than who actually “deserves” to get in.

1) Magus (Chrono Trigger)
2) Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts)
3) Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy)
4) H’aanit (Octopath Traveller)
5) Raziel (Soul Reaver)

Obviously other characters deserve the spot more like Lara Croft, 2B, or Sora and I’d be fine with them but they aren’t my favorites. Other Final Fantasy reps than 7 make a lot more sense but Vincent has always been my favorite playable character (along with Lulu from X but Vincent has more interesting moveset potential).

I remember reading that the translation for that was a bit iffy, and that in japanese he said something different. Similar to how in Sephiroth's presentation Sakurai originally said something like "people thinks we got 2 songs because it's Square's fault, but that's not the case". Or at least that's what I read not long ago.

Honestly thinking about this made me realise that there's hardly any characters left that I actually want. Pyra/Mythra made me pretty much satisfied with the roster as is, so at the moment I'd really just like a Gen 8 Pokemon rep who isn't Cinderace (but mainly any one of those three, and I'm choosing to ignore that Melmetal is technically Gen 7), literally any Xenoblade X music, stage, or fighter representation, and though it's a massive long shot I'd be over the moon for Zagreus.

Jokes aside, that's a pretty solid roster overall. I'd only add Steve and maybe Cloud alongside the combo bird and we're in a good spot.

I felt I couldn't justify including either Cloud or Steve.
Cloud was the last character added in Ultimate's base roster and the content he has now was thanks to Sephiroth, inclusion.
Steve is owned by Microsoft and joined Ultimate through the second wave of DLC.
I don't know if Microsoft will stick around for future Smash titles since Ultimate is a special case.
Sonic is the only Third Party character I felt safe including since he was the only one that was in Brawl and Smash 4.
Falco drew the short end of the stick.
Star Fox is a niche franchise and after the failure of Star Fox Zero (not counting Star Link), the future doesn't look good for the series.
Also didn't help that Falco was a semi-clone of Fox (Wolf is the better semi-clone, bite me.)
I felt I had better justification including Little Mac, King K. Rool, and Jigglypuff than what Falco had.

Mythra, she's busted in her game after all, especially if they give her Bat Within only better in literally every way while it slows you down, give her a frame 2 jab and give her hitboxes bigger than herself, but I don't think they'd do that

Kat from Gravity Rush would probably have a pretty gamebreaking Mechanic since her whole game is about the manipulation of Gravity.

At the same time, the more I look at her game, the more a Gravity Gauge sounds interesting. Instead of refilling on doing/taking damage or over time, I imagine it would refill on the ground and deplete using certain moves.

...Most characters which sound busted are actually pretty interesting imo. Or maybe I'm just a sadist/masochist, who knows.

miHoyo: Where do we start with Genshin Impact?

Personal wants can go wherever, but if we need a starting point, there's two main options: The Traveler and Amber.

The Traveler, as the lack of actual name suggests, is the avatar and main character of the game. They actually do have official names - Aether for the male option and Lumine for the female one - But they're usually just called the Traveler for the sake of simplicity. They're also brother and sister, with the sibling you didn't choose looking to have a role later on in the story (Kinda like Akira from Astral Chain).

Gameplay-wise, they have the obligatory JRPG (CRPG? Genshin's Chinese, so it's not really a Japanese RPG) protagonist sword, alongside the unique trait of being able to use every element in the game. Well, they're going to have all those elements by the end of the game, at least; At the point we're at now, they only have access to Anemo (Wind) and Geo (Earth). From the looks of it, the next chapter's gonna give the Electro (Uh...), so we can throw that in too. If we want to stretch it, I suppose we could give them a composite moveset using various magical skills from other characters, seeing as we haven't reached the point where they have every element yet.

Amber is a more "grounded" choice, I think. She's the first character who joins you/The Traveler, and is front-and-center in the marketing. Really, she's practically a mascot for the game. In combat, she'd be unique in that she solely uses a bow, rather than pulling it out for just the neutral special. If we feel the Traveler can't have a proper moveset because they haven't even reached half of their abilities yet and would feel very outdated as time goes on, Amber's always just Amber and would be future-proofed for any later updates Genshin gets. Granted, by the time Genshin even has a shot, we'll probably have the rest of the elements anyways, so...

To be fair, Corrin and Bayonetta were revealed in the same presentation and released on the same day. I think we can treat those as the last two characters together, with Corrin falling under the "End-of-cycle promotional pick" banner instead, like with Byleth and arguably Incineroar as well.

(For context, Incini was chosen in advance like Byleth and Corrin and was the last base game reveal, but by then SuMo wasn't fresh off the conveyor belt and in prime condition for a promotion. That's why they're a maybe)

Here’s a fun game. Given that most people aren’t expecting Capcom to get any fighters in this pass, I have a question: If Fighters Pass 3 was exclusively Capcom characters, who would you want? Honestly, this was surprisingly tough for me to decide on, but I think I’d go with:

• Arthur - fun NES throwback
• Chun-Li - “the first lady of fighting games”
• Phoenix Wright - popular character with heavy Nintendo association
• Amaterasu - insane moveset potential
• Leon Kennedy - important series that would represent a new genre in Smash
• Dante - crazy popularity and moveset potential

I thought about Monster Hunter, but I’m personally pretty happy with its representation in Smash.

You hit the nail on the head with your choices. I would also be happy with Viewtiful Joe and a Power Stone character but those probably wouldn't happen before the characters you mentioned.

That's fair. I'm also inclined to think it'll be a pretty big pick next to follow up on a Nintendo character (my personal prediction is Dark Souls guy with Lloyd costume next). I just think anyone "certain" about anything is only setting themselves up for disappointment, especially if they narrow it down to picks like Crash Bandicoot and Master Chief.
