I have hopes for next week.

My hype will rise when they removed the “new banner” on the smash website.
I don’t think they’ve done that during the DLC period, only during base game. At least, not that I’ve noticed

Just because we have the roster we have right now, doesn't mean there aren't characters who deserve to be on the roster more than the ones we have, it's pretty clear that there are some characters who deserve to be in a crossover of this scale more than others. For example, new nintendo characters like Min Min, Corrin, Pyra/Mythra and Byleth don't deserve it at all.
Pretty sure if these characters were 30 years old no one would say this.
Not the first time I read someone saying "Min Min/Byleth/Pyra & Mythra don't deserve to be in Smash", and to me it always comes off as new = bad. Which is just dumb. Not only because there's no such thing as characters deserving a spot in Smash, but also because Smash needs newer characters as well.

I mean, there are still games being made during the 2010s and the current decade. And a lot of them are very good. There are more games and characters beyond the SNES/N64 days. I always find this like some fans just going against newer Nintendo characters because they seem them like "threats" to their most wanteds, which are usually fan requests with years of support behind.

The best thing to make Nintendo Directs come quicker is to do literally anything other than stare at social media waiting for the announcement.

Play some video games. Go outside. Read a book. Visit some friends. Study for that test you have next week. You'll enjoy yourself much more and the time waiting will thusly go by much more quickly.

Wait, how or why are we expecting a Nintendo Direct announcement so desperately already that it somehow is possible and/or likely that it gets announced in five hours?
We usually get Directs in early September, I don't see that changing so I think we're getting something in the next 2 weeks. That being said, it's inevitable (knock on wood) so I don't feel the need to stress over it's reveal.

Here is a question would Corrin be better if instead of counter down b he switch to a dragon with full moveset instead?
I think more 4 legged fighters would be cool.
This would be a nifty idea is implemented well. I'd likely actually use corrin bc dragons but then ofc charizard so maybe that's why they didn't bother going that extra mile... Or 10.

Ehh, for me it would just be boring if only the "big" and "deserving" series made it in. I like when the smaller, niche stuff gets a chance every now and then.
I think hardcore Smash fans are OK with niche and small stuff getting their chances.

As long as they played those niche and small games as kids and never touched anything else since then.

I think any Nintendo character is fair game as long as they're at least somewhat well known and not completely obscure (i.e they're from some one-off Japan only game or something)

I think the standards are a lot higher for third parties though. Which makes sense, because if you're gonna include non-Nintendo characters in a Nintendo fighting game, they really ought to be a big deal. Whether they be gaming legends like Sonic, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Cloud, Sephiroth, Snake, etc or highly requested characters that are essentially Nintendo reps in all but ownership, like Banjo-Kazooie and Bayonetta. Besides those two, Terry is probably the "smallest" one...but even he is still the mascot of a historic game company that's iconic to Japanese and Latino players.

This probably makes me a bit shallow but as long as the character looks cool and fun to play I don’t really care how deserving they are. I’d rather have an awesome looking character I’ve never heard of than the main protagonist of a game I enjoyed but didn’t really care for the character.

apparently games with any sorts of gambling in them such as Pokémon red, blue and yellow or sonic forces etc will all be rated 18+ now in the uk

in before sonic is our M rated rep.
Hold the phone here - can I have a source for this please?

I haven't seen anything that relates to images of casinos etc. in video games - rather loot boxes and related betting (e-sports betting in particular, which is frequently gray market at best). So that's why I'm asking for a source.

So there's potentially a chance of a direct being announced at 5 today?

Have to wait and see then, otherwise tomorrow or next week it is.

Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. NateDrake said on his podcast that the "Hiyoko" emulator found in the code of NSO is for a Game Boy/Game Boy Colour emulator and said emulator is coming "very soon"

I guess it's good to see Nintendo is doing something to improve NSO and their general offerings of retro titles on the Switch, but it's going to take a lot more than this to course-correct either of those services beyond being a ransom payment for online and a massive step back from the Virtual Console respectively.

This feels like such like the kind of shrugworthy thing Nintendo would do for NSO’s third anniversary that I’m actually inclined to believe it as true.

I can’t wrap my head around such close-minded trains of thought. I just… can’t.
I can give you a pretty easy explanation on how that happens and and how it works.

You see, some people are extremely goal oriented. These kind of people will work through to accomplish whatever objective they have in mind. On paper this doesnt sound so bad until its put on practice. People completely oriented on goals easily forget the big picture (like the reason they wanted to achieve their goal in the first place). These types of people easily end up hurting their own cause while trying to achieve their goal because of this idea that the most important part is achieving what they set to do rather than considering the consequences of their actions (which might hurt their cause) or the original idea behind their actions. Sometimes, this phenomenon is called tunnel vision because in the metaphorical sense, these are people looking for the end of the tunnel and walking towards it while ignoring everything that is surrounding them in this dark cave.

I think I understand. Makes me happy I’m not part of that crowd. I mean, you’ve seen how hard I’ve been pushing my MW, and yet I’m not acting all high and mighty like others are with theirs. I’m just doing it for fun at this point.

Corrin could just abandon the Yato in favor of full-force manakete power. It'd sure confuse the hell out of FE haters, considering the most divisive of the cast would be the first that's not a swordfighter, which is part of the main bulk of complaints directed towards them.

I think that’s the one good thing about me having such unrealistic MWs. If somehow, one makes it in I’ll be really hyped but if none of them do, I won’t be too disappointed since I wasn’t really expecting them to begin with.

It would make zero difference and people would still complain about his arms being swords.

After Smash fans treating Byleth like a Marth clone and calling Joker a swordfighter, I'm pretty sure they just want to hate on evil non-Scrimblo anime people and swords are a convenient excuse.

And now you know why I have no qualms with my MW getting the backlash she would if she were to join.
