Uh are you sure KK?

IIRC "Buss" is only a noun. You can't make it a verb by tossing on -ing. You can say "to kiss" but not "to buss" I think.

To Bus is the act of transporting via bus, and the present continuous form can be both busing and bussing.

I've only ever seen Buss used a handful of times though so I honestly am not sure if you can use it as a verb.

Lol. Irregardless, you can verb any noun by just using it as a verb. Like I just did. It was like Calvin and Hobbes or something. Calvin started verbing nouns. It was funny.

You just knowledged all over my face. Verbing nouns is sort of like icing a cake. It should be icinging the cake, since it's applying icing, not ice.

Oh I get it, you're the type of people who also write canceled as cancelled, huh
*shrug* Might be, but it's grammatically correct still.

Could you perhaps be the type of person who writes backward/forward/toward as backwards/forwards/towards? =P

Now I just wanna say irregardless over and over again.
grarghagrhagrhargl not a word =/

Also just because you can "verb" nouns and we can understand what you mean doesn't mean it's a grammatically sound rule guys lmao

I thought it was [sic]...

Also. It is grammatically sound. Forever and always. Deal with it.

How much chuck could a chuckwood wood if a chuckwood could wood chuck?
This in its non *******ized form is written on the bathroom wall in my workplace's bathroom (I work in a university library).

Replace all the words "chuck" with "*****" though.

You can use [sic] in combination with quotes or parentheses to denote uncommon or archaic words/usage.

Might be able to apply that to denoting non-standard (i.e. technically grammatically incorrect) usage but I really don't know.

Point is the quotes on their own do the job regardless.

And no it's not and I won't just deal with it. =P

English teachers at my school take 2 points off for every "to be" verb they find in a paper, which includes am, is, are, was, and were.

Do you know how hard it is to write a paper without any of the above words? I definitely understand the motive, but sometimes the adjustments I have to make sound sloppier than simply using the "to be" verb.

One of my teachers did it too. Needless to say, I hate papers and am no longer in honors.

They explained it as, constant usage sounds bad. Repetition isn't a good thing, and "to be" is the most common verb, I guess? Plus it makes your paper passive, and passive papers are dumb. Apparently.

Those **** grammar nazi's

I assume though, that it's only the case when you write something like

"It was Meta-Kirby who lynched scum"

which should just be

"Meta-Kirby lynched scum"

you don't get penalised for using the words "is, am, are, was, were" straight up, right?

"Lynching scum was Town's only chance of winning"

How can you get rid of 'was' in that sentence? Without using 'is' or 'were' or some variant?

Yes, we get "-2" written by every single "am, is, are, was, were" in our entire paper. It's awkward to replace but

"Lynching scum was Town's only chance of winning"

becomes:

"Lynching scum remains Town's only chance of winning."

It's absolutely tedious. Yes, I understand the implications; it forces us to use more diverse sentence structure and to explore new ways to convey our point. However, I'm in an AP English IV class, I don't need to learn new ways to write. I know how to write, and write well.

Omfg that is so harsh.

I mean, I got A's all through Senior English at high school, but wow they'd NEVER implement something that harsh at my school.

That's so old school. Like whipping kids who forget to dot their i's and cross their t's.

Yeah, I've never gotten a B as my final grade...

...since Kindergarten.

I'm 2nd in my class lol.

It is brutal. It doesn't help that out of 40-50 kids who take AP English IV (College Level), only 2-3 gets As in it.

Even in my AP English III class, only 4 kids got As in my class of ~35.

*head explodes*

You couldn't even use "to be" verbs in sentences where they are required to convey the point in the most accurate manner possible?

Your teachers are ****ing ******s and I mean that in the most derogatory sense.

That is literally the imposition of a restriction that fundamentally undermines the versatility of language to convey information in the most accurate manner possible. Having to undergo circumlocution like that and think of replacement words that actually make the sentence LESS accurate would almost quite literally drive me insane.

I spend enough time as it is when I write trying to think of the best words to most specifically and accurately convey what I want to say. Having to work backward from that is nothing short of horrifying to me.

I got A's and 5s on the APs of both my AP English classes in HS (Language, Literature) and never had to deal with any of that bull**** thank god. I probably would have literally dropped the class or had a long heated argument with my teacher if they ever tried to impose some crap policy like that.
