mind = blownYou just knowledged all over my face. Verbing nouns is sort of like icing a cake. It should be icinging the cake, since it's applying icing, not ice.
*shrug* Might be, but it's grammatically correct still.Oh I get it, you're the type of people who also write canceled as cancelled, huh![]()
grarghagrhagrhargl not a word =/Now I just wanna say irregardless over and over again.
....Don't make me bulldozer you. Also just because you can "verb" nouns and we can understand what you mean doesn't mean it's a grammatically sound rule guys lmao
Derp, quotes are there for a reason to denote non-standard usage. =PFrozenflame, you just verbed a noun!
Your face denotes non-standard usage!Derp, quotes are there for a reason to denote non-standard usage. =P
This in its non *******ized form is written on the bathroom wall in my workplace's bathroom (I work in a university library). How much chuck could a chuckwood wood if a chuckwood could wood chuck?
You can use [sic] in combination with quotes or parentheses to denote uncommon or archaic words/usage.I thought it was [sic]...
Also. It is grammatically sound. Forever and always. Deal with it.
Those **** grammar nazi'sEnglish teachers at my school take 2 points off for every "to be" verb they find in a paper, which includes am, is, are, was, and were.
Do you know how hard it is to write a paper without any of the above words? I definitely understand the motive, but sometimes the adjustments I have to make sound sloppier than simply using the "to be" verb.
It is Oberon Sexton from the Batman and Robin comics.Pierre, what is your avatar? I keep mistaking it for Grand Admiral Thrawn.
I see my views on the subject have already been stated.*head explodes*
You couldn't even use "to be" verbs in sentences where they are required to convey the point in the most accurate manner possible?
Your teachers are ****ing ******s and I mean that in the most derogatory sense.
That is literally the imposition of a restriction that fundamentally undermines the versatility of language to convey information in the most accurate manner possible. Having to undergo circumlocution like that and think of replacement words that actually make the sentence LESS accurate would almost quite literally drive me insane.
I spend enough time as it is when I write trying to think of the best words to most specifically and accurately convey what I want to say. Having to work backward from that is nothing short of horrifying to me.
I got A's and 5s on the APs of both my AP English classes in HS (Language, Literature) and never had to deal with any of that bull**** thank god. I probably would have literally dropped the class or had a long heated argument with my teacher if they ever tried to impose some crap policy like that.
