Boost Walking
Watch the vid and use the info.
If you find anything new please post here.

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4eTFNYlaV0

There are 3 ways to perform this:

#1 Set one of your back buttons (L, R and Z) to attack. After that set one more to jump. Last, set your c-stick to attack. (You will be missing grab with a GC controller, but shield + A= grab, but I use a classic controller you I win).
Hold attack + hold jump + hold analog in a direction + hit back on the c-stick

#2
If you B-stick set one of your back buttons (L, R and Z) to special. After that set one more to jump. (You will be missing grab with a GC controller, but shield+A= grab, but I use a classic controller you I win).
Hold special + hold jump + hold analog in a direction + hit back on the c-stick

#3 With default controls just hold A + hold analog in a direction + hit upper right/left with the c-stick in reverse direction

This is what's happening:
You are holding buttons to make the c-stick just make you turn around.
That means you gain momentum moving forward by pivoting but you never lose any momentum by hitting back with the analog
The result is a constant momentum gain.

So what is this good for?
Well for starters it lets you approach with anything at almost dashing speeds.
To finish this thing just let go off the buttons and to start it easily just hold them down after performing a move.

Characters that get a large slide are:

:mario2:
:dk2:
:diddy:
:yoshi2:
:link2:
:shiek:
:toonlink:
:zerosuitsamus:
:pit:
:popo:
:metaknight:
:fox:
:falco:
:wolf:
:pikachu2:
:squirtle:
:ivysaur:
:marth:
:gw:
:sonic:

I measured by seeing if the character took 6 or less pivots to cross FD.

Here are the techs that can be performed with this:

Boost Walk canceling (BWC)
There are three ways to properly cancel this.
#1 jumping
#2 holding the pivot
#3 ducking

Jumping allows you to approach with this and pull off an airial really fast.
Holding the pivot is what is important.

Basically you want to begin your pivot to get a boost but hit the analog in the same direction that you just came from. The result is you canceling all of you momentum and facing the direction you just came from.
From here if you want to face around the other way just hit in that direction and attack (it is best to use something like f-tilt, FSmash, grab or along that same line so you don't take up 2 frames of turning lag).

If you cancel it but hit in the direction you were traveling in you will cancel with a small dash. This can be good getting grabs, DACUS, dash attack or a special.

You can also duck to cancel the Boost Walk. Depending on when you perform it you could get a small boost of momentum at the end.

Another form of canceling is shield canceling.
When you first input the pivot to perform Boost walking quickly hit shield.
Depending on your timing you will either be facing in the direction you were traveling too or you will be facing the direction you were traveling from.

Attacking while sliding
There are some attacks that can be performed during the beginning of the Boost Walk.
You will basically slide while performing your attack.

You can also grab while sliding to increase your over all grab range.

Smash Boosting
When you are walking perform the following actions:
(default controls) Hold A> Walk/Boost Walk> hit left/right on the c-stick
What happens is you perform a FSmash. Thing is your momentum from your walk is transferred into your FSmash. YouSo think Hyphen Smash, but with the FSmash.

Luigi can slide 1/8 of FD by using this.

Boosted Pivot Walk

Doop Walk was just Pivot Walking.

Also..explain it better?lol

Also, if I read your settings controller wise correctly... we'll still have a button to grab with if we use GC.

So...it's like an enhanced PW?

And I thought dooping was ridiculous enough.

Pivot walking also desynchs the IC's, I could have told you it would have done that... lol
Well thanks a lot.
Now Sheiks worst match up has become a beast! NOT GOOD!!!!!
Flag my thread and delete it before Lain see's this!

:EDIT:

Doop walking was to hard IMO. A lot of work for an itty bitty boost.
There is a little bit of timing with this but you will be able to perform it 100% of the time with about 2 minutes of practicing.

You should go see the new desynch that they can literally desynch from a walk/dash (I forget which) into any move.

Now again, you didn't discover any of this with IC's. It's been known for more then 8 months now....

Wow, I didn't realize that the IC's had so may approach options.

its not really new, marth walks faster by doing this. my friend paradigm does this all the time. darn twirly to tipper f-smash
Ah yeah, it is new. Marth couldn't cross FD in 4 pivots before.

:EDIT:
They could always do pivot walk desynching though...
I know that now... :/
I should probably edit that out so people don't keep on correcting me.

Pivot Walking (the doop method) wasn't exactly slow..

I await the video.
I thought it was.

ps OMG I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
You can perform it and the cancel it by hitting in the pivoted direction. The effect is real close to a wave dash.

This same thing can be done with regular controls and far easier. Just hold the attack button and while walking push the c-stick slightly in the opposite direction and slightly up (diagonally). I'm not sure if this is the same thing but the effect sounds the same. try it.

You charge your Smash Attack....

well idk if losing c-stick spacing is worth it
What loss? You c-stick is set to attack.

If you do it correctly, you do not charge your smash attack, you pivot.
Just an FYI.

It's at a 45 degree angle upwards. So top right/left, the OPPOSITE direction of the direction you want to go:

EG:
Walk left while holding A, tap C-stick up+right

Oh wow I got it to work that time!
I wouldn't call it easier though.

Thanks SuSa. There was a thread about this long ago and that's how I knew. I do it from time to time when my opponent is respawning just for fun.

@Savior: it is definitely easier that way, plus no weird controls. Sorry.

Going off my old video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sacIYsrRvq0#t=03m15s

Looks like five boosts, so it sounds to be the same speed. Plus setting ONLY R (or L) to attack, and keeping smash is better.

Worst thing that can happen is you fsmash, but with 5 minutes of practice - you shouldn't be doing that.

You just re-found it (for the 3rd time) and listed the funkiest control scheme ever. :x Sorry.

Closer to the wii every day.
It definitely will help out Marth, sheik, and possibly sonic. As for the other characters, it looks like there really isn't enough gain to trade up other options for this. Def. won't help Lucas :p

Your edit was after my post...
But I'm not exactly sure, but that does seem faster than normal pivot walking. Can't wait for Tinks.

Whether intentional or not, the video calls it Poost Pivot Walking. Kinda catchy.

Good job regardless of its pre-discovery.

This goes faster and farther then regular pivot walking, right? I wonder what the frame speeds are for this (in terms of movement comparing this, walking, regular pivot walking, and running)

Marth's look like each 'pivot' has him going a lot further in distance (must be the scheme allowing you a 'straighter' left/right angle on the C stick [kinda like how wavelanding in melee you could go a lot further due to being able to hold a lot further left/right])... BUT I'm not too sure about it being FASTER than the doop walk (distance/time).

Just lol @ the length.

Tinks is pretty big.

Marth has the largest one.

That was a typo, but I like it. Poost= Pivot Boost lol
I should name this thread that and see if it catches!

Sheiks is about as fast as her run.

I personally think every characters is good just because you can practically dash dance with this (like wave dash in melee). It also allows for quick movement. A perfect example is Zelda's. It is not huge, but good for her since it is better than her walk.

:EDIT:
Can you cancel a dash with this?

:059:
No.. but this is about as fast as some people's dash so there's no reason to dash in the first place.

:EDIT:
okay, the find/vid is great. good job! ...but where's the vid of the 'wave dash'?
You misunderstood, I said the effect is real close to wave dash.
Wave Dash= a short burst of left or right movement usually from a dash
Poost walking= just as fast as a dash with some people and can be canceled let or right for a quick movement (watch Marth at one part in the vid)

:EDIT:
^This. MikeHAZE uses this a bunch.
Good, smart man. We need to CATCH up with him.

Finger Eleven ftw.

Thanks for the further analysis of this tech, known or not it never hurts for a deeper look.
