TMZ has confirmed TV pitchman Billy Mays was found dead today in his home in Tampa, Florida early this morning.

According to the Tampa PD, the 50-year-old TV pitchman was found unresponsive by his wife Deborah at 7:45 AM.

TMZ has learned Mays' body has already been removed from his home.

Mays had just returned from Philadelphia, where he shot a new OxiClean commercial. He was a passenger aboard a plane that suffered a blown front tire upon landing. He told a local TV station, "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We're told Mays was at his home around 6:00 PM last night, and according to a source Mays was "acting fine and normal ... he was talking business with his father-in-law."

According to cops, there are no signs of forced entry to the residence and no foul play is suspected.

The Medical Examiner's office is expected to complete the autopsy by tomorrow afternoon.

Billy's wife Deborah just released the following statement:

Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.

Story developing ...

Wow...I can't believe it. I won't lie, I always made cracks about him because -- let's face it, his commercials were funny with him always screaming really loudly. But...jeez, I still had respect for the man. I can't believe he's dead.

Yet another famous person dead this week...and here I thought they died in threes. =/

RIP Billy Mays.

Are you serious? Man, this is pretty devastating. I think I'll miss seeing advertisement with him in them.

Really, this...

I just can't believe it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, actually. In both his and MJ's case, it was rather sudden to the media, it happened in their home, and they were both 50.

Wacky ****, man.

WHY? This is the first thing I heard this morning. My brother ran into my room screaming, "BILLY MAYS DIED!" I honestly thought it was just a move to wake me up, given that it's almost 1:00.

This is just ridiculous.

I found this on TMZ

The FAA is already deflecting blame for the death of Billy Mays -- claiming the legendary TV pitchman wasn't wearing a seat belt when he took a shot to the head during a rough landing on a flight he was on yesterday.

Here's what we know -- Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down. After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head -- here's Billy's actual quote:

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, "The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn't."

A spokesperson for US Airways did not want to comment until more information comes to light.

This is truly the saddest day I have ever experienced.

Billy Mays... Why the **** did it have to be him? Why couldn't he have continued pitching until he was 75? 80? 1000?!

But look, the news is covering nothing but Michael Jackson's death. Transformers. The Caylee Anthony stuff. Nothing on Mays, of course!

I hate life.

Man, I can't belive this. Billy Mays was a freaking legend! I'll always remember his trademark blue shirt and immortal charisma. The Hercules Hook, Oxy Clean, Mighty Putty, OrangeGlo, Might Mend-it, and Fix it will always be burned into my mind. Here's the death of another legend.

This is really shaping up to be another Natasha Richardson death.

So, the deaths in the past week have covered acting, modeling, music, and advertising. Video games next?

I really don't get why people are freaking out quite this much. I mean, yes, death sucks, but people die every day. These people just happened to be on TV. I guarantee someone has died in the time it has taken me to write this post, but no one's going to bat an eyelash over that.

2009 is not the first year in which celebrities have died. Let's not get nutty, people.
